What are they supposed to do, exactly?
They are supposed to WORK, in much of Mass Effect 2 the scroll wheel and double click mechanism is absent. I remember when I first fired up ME 2 and I was trying to scroll through the codex text with my mouse wheel and it didn't work. I actually thought my mouse was broken, that seemed a more logical explanation to me than "oh the developers didn't bother to implement the SCROLL wheel to SCROLL through text".
Having said that this topic has been covered enough, I imagine Bioware has got the message by now. Hell I even sent Jesse Houston a tweet or two about the over sights with regard to the control interface on the PC version. We have done all we can and now we just have to wait and see if Bioware takes our feedback onboard or ignores it.

Oh, right right. Yeah, it seems like with every subesquent game that they hate we PC players more and more and more. DAII was an even worse offender in this than ME2. And to think, so many of us go to the trouble of actually buying and registering their games when we really don't need to.charmingcharlie wrote...

First, I'm glad that this topic is covered a lot but it's really never enough before they release it with the full functionality! =)
And The One, I have no idea of what you've said but even DA2 has it working fine. Origins it was just perfect though. I don't remember at this moment if right-click can equip/unequip items in DA2 like it did in Origins, for instance, but I didn't feel DA2 totally forgot about how much faster and practical can mouse buttons and wheel be to select stuff, for instance, like ME2 did.

That transition from DA:O to DAII saw a lot of loss in the area of PC controls functionality. Not that DAII was horrible, but that it took away things that didn't need to be taken away.RageGT wrote...

It does, I don't use it but that is besides the point. All the OP is referring to is the Codex.Hathur wrote...
I'll admit... it's pretty stupid not to include mouse wheel functionality in the PC version... it should at least allow us to cycle weapons at a bare minimum.

Codex, save/load, select weapons, distribute level up points plus stuff like that. Oh, I forgot to mention keyboard hotkeys to access menus, journal, squad status, stc. I mean, come on! It isn't that hard to do is it? Every BW game used to have them, since BG. Even ME1 has it!

I think this is probably hyperbole. But I agree with the premise. It's extremely disappointing to see them not bother to link up mouse and hotkey controls to things that function on a game pad.onelifecrisis wrote...
It's not a big deal to me, but it does smack of extremely lazy porting. I mean really, how much work would it be to add this to the GUIs? 5 minutes? 10 tops.

Which bit did you think was hyperbole?

As stated you can select weapons with the wheel (although it really does need hotkeys for this), I never have enough saves for that to be an issue for me, distributing level points with the mouse wheel is a pretty silly idea IMO. You do have some points but you are making a complete mountain out of a molehill plus adding some silly ideas in that makes your overall argument weaker.RageGT wrote...

In the Armory/Locker no, you cannot. I didn't mean select weapon during combat. And I did meant mouse left click. Same for Skill points distribution. I can't just click/double click the skill I want. It's weird. Mouse wheel is for navigation on menus, codex, etc. WTF did you think I would want mouse wheel to distribute level points? Yes, it is silly. Don't rush assuming I want silly things! =)

How embarassing.. I've logged hundreds of hours into ME2 and just found this out now

Scrolling through the various powers to level them up is what I believe is meant.

I don't care much about the double click, but I do about the mouse wheel.

Argh... Also please kill Windows Key... hate going to desktop in the middle of combat by accident!
Use autohotkey.
Google it.
Install it.
In the help file there's an example script for disabling the windows key.
And if you spend some time learning how to use it properly you can make it do all sorts of cool gaming stuff.

It's ported. In house.

Eh, porting suggests that the content is designed for a different platform first.onelifecrisis wrote...
It's ported. In house.
Which doesn't apply for ME2/3, the content for the games are developed and implemented in all three versions at the same time, hence them having the same release date.
