Hannah Shepard is the one person i want to interact with because she is ofcourse the spacers shepard mum and would be shamful if you do not see her before the end of the universe...

If she is already dead by the reapers then it is a defo COP out of not actually making he character...

I believe you, but I have also heard that the entire Alliance fleet had been destroyed after gathering to oppose the Reapers. If true, that would mean that Mother Shepard is gone. Particularly since she is in command of a dreadnaught. I really do hope that she survived, but I won't hold my breath. With everything that is going on with the invasion, most humans have lost someone close.

As many people have already stated, they would really like to see mom before the end of the series, but I seriously doubt that BioWare will go that far for the spacers, or any other class of players because they are trying to make an epic game and experience for us. But maybe if we are lucky, BW has a lot of extra time and money on their hands, and they get around to it, they will give us a pleasant surprise. Otherwise, we may find ourselves in Tali's position when she found her father.

I think what's disappointing is that some gamer's unreasonable expectations of technology cripple storytelling.

I didn't even play a Spacer - but I think it would be a great story to allow those Shepard's to meet their moms even if you can't put her in a gene sequencer and come out with a SIMs level genetic match.

No, facial structure impacted the dad's appearance too, along with skin tone (beyond the race preset) and eye color.

Not that big an issue. Certainly wasn't one in DA2 or the Cousland Origin in DAO.

I think she calls Shepard "honey" and "dear" in Mass Effect 1.

All I ask for is for her to have a "Mama Bear" (got to TV Tropes if you don't know what I'm talking about) moment. Maybe not see her, maybe not even interacting with her at all, but if ships ever fly out against the reapers (which, let's face it, they'll inevitably will at one point or another), it would be cool to see her ship (name escapes me right now) giving the new Normandy some cover fire while screaming "Don't you dare touching my son/daughter!"

Just my two cents. That alone would make my day.

That means we also need the Tenth Street Reds to fly in on a hijacked Turian dreadnaught and vape a Reaper that's got Shepard on the ropes. Or Talitha needs to free a group of captured humans that are about to be melted down into Reaper goo and then storm a Reaper and kill it from the inside.

Hmmm... Didn't I hear from Hackett in one of the E3 videos? The one with Legion stating "We have aquired transportation."  IIRC, Shepard called for an Orbital Strike, and Hackett replied.

If the Flagship of the 5th Fleet is the Orizaba, and Hackett is also on it, then I guess it means that Hannah is also aboard.  AND survived the initial attack....

Perhaps a quick meeting/call at the end of that mission? Video Conference maybe?

What would ALSO be nice is a reference or two to Spacer Shepard's Father. Maybe it could come from Hannah (She'd know about her husband, wouldn't she?)

Well, although that last one is a bit exagerated and quite incredible, who knows? Would be nice to have something out of every background. I was just mentioning what I had on my head about Hannah.

Well there was a quest on the citidel in the first mass effect for spacer shep to help out a friend of your mothers, which leads to you chatting with your mom on the Normandy via radio.

Ooooh... this would be awesome... of course, this would be a bit tricky to pull off since, and, in case your LI was an alien race (besides asari, that is), I don't think they have really explain how the whole "thing" would work, if it even works to begin with. Then again, maybe I just haven't thought about that all that much...

Not that I mind, though. Like I said, that dialogue by itself is a wesome.

What is this obsession with background related content, specifically Mama Shepard? We've already had little interesting background-specific quests in ME1 and emails in ME2. BW can't stretch this too far because your background isn't supposed to have a significant impact on the outcome of the game, or add too much side flavor to the game.

Even having Mama Shepard comment about your LI is enough to swing favor towards that particular background. Which is a little ironic because LI-obsessed players probably don't even show half that concern to their real mothers (disclaimer: if alive). And yet love their virtual characters' mother so much more.

If Mama Shepard is going to comment about Shepard's LI, then its only fair that the other backgrounds get something similar. Nothing less than the following:

Sole Survivor: The Thresher Maw on Akuze emails you its regards on finally getting laid.
Earth-Born: Massive posters hanging on the side of buildings in all cities saying "Glory to Mankind: Shepard banged LI".

Do it!

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that the different backgrounds will have some impact on the story. I don't know exactly where i read it but they definitely talked about it in an interview or twitter.

well it can't be a very big impact, maybe a cameo or message by some characters from certain backgrounds

Actually not beeing an orphan is what I love about the spacer background. The orphaned hero is so cliché.

Doubt it... well, not directly anyway. It's been said by someone important (can't remember who) that ME3 will tie up all the character background stories as well, so no doubt she'll make some form of appearance.

I just hope that if you go Colonist/Ruthless, then the batarians automatically get wiped. That'll save me the trouble of doing it myself.

If you're referring to the Arrival expansion, it's not a choice. They die no matter what dialog option you choose. =)

It's not the entire Batarian race as well, it's just a star system. 

Just incase that is what you was referring too.
