I think it would be weird if Hannah called her child "Shepard". I get that they're both Alliance soldiers, but if the world is ending are you going to stand on protocol with your own child?

That's the problem with getting to choose a PCs first name, its doomed never to be used except maybe in text form. It made me giggle that Liara calls Shepard "Commander" in the pre-Ilos scene.
Shepard's mam will probably just use a nickname, I vote for lamb chop.

lol that wouldbe embarassing for Shep wouldn't it? But anyway if that were the case Spacers only. Otherwise Shep's mum along with his/her dad are both dead. (unknown if Earthborn).

English... Coming from the term England.

I think it's safe to assume that English (United Kingdom) come before English (USA) therefore the correct term is actually Mum and the natives of the US, modified it to suit their "accent" if you wish.

Easy misconception seen as the Aussies, use English (UK) ;) That's the way forwards. Lawl.

Oxford Dictionary for the win. :bandit:

I was hoping that in ME3, Hannah Shepherd be killed at the beginning of the game, similar to the boy died, but personally effecting Shepherd since he lost his mother.

Meeting Hanna doesn't mean that they can't make something for each background. We could get a mission on Mindior or in the Slums of New York easily enough. It all depends on which worlds have missions. Clearing out a Reaper incursion on Mindior and passing your farm or during one of the Earth scenes your old gang could show up.

Personally I would like to meet her.

I have nothing against the other backgrounds ie earthborn or colonist but for me at least I have always seen either shepard male or female that they were and always a navy brat and always lived on one of the starships either with mother or father.

Now for me at least this would be awesome scene - sometime after leaving earth shepard and normandy exit the slingshot that a previous mass relay did. As soon as the normandy returns to normal the alarms go off as reaper comes out of nowhere and the normandy is fighting, well a loosing fight and then out of nowhere the alarms go off saying that several ships are coming through. The first thought that comes through everybodies mind is that is more reapers but instead its a task force that was in the area lead by the dreadnought SSV Kilamonjaro, and the task force immediately opens up all guns and removes the reaper with the normandy's help and after that Hannah Shepard boards the normandy to greet her son and to have an update on what has happened and have a family reunion.

And the UK version is still right if updated while the Ameicans stick to an out-of-date version (e.g. pronounciation of "herb").  Of course, most differences were because Webster decided that Americans were incpable of spelling and simplified things for them...

The Email from Captain Hannah Shepard in it's entirety:

From: Mom

So I have to find out my child is alive third-hand from the Alliance brass? Where the hell have you been?

I figure whatever you're doing is classified, likely part of your Spectre Operations. Just stay safe out there, and keep doing your mom proud. And sneak something through a secure channel next time.

Love,
Your mother, Captain Hannah

Note: If Spacer Shep in ME 1, After doing one Mission Planet (Therum, Noveria, or Feros), return to the Citadel and take the Wards Access. You will find a drunk. Talk to him, then go to the Normandy Comm Room and talk to Hannah. Talk to the Drunk again, and this will happen if the save is ported. Sorry that PS3 doesn't get the chance for it.

Probably just a war resource for galaxy of war, like if your spacer you get her ship as a recourses or your gang if you were earthborn etc.
