I'm playing my 2nd career, and I'm on the Bring Down the Sky mission. I can't help but think that Kate Bowman is an idiot. She contributes nothing to Shepard. She warns him that batarians are responsible. So what? Shepard finds out soon enough, and the species responsible for the attack is irrelevant - it does not change your objectives. When confronted by Balak, she refuses to name Shepard. It is true that she doesn't know Shepard's name or that Shepard is a SPECTRE, but she does know that it the Systems Alliance. That should have been obvious to the batarians anyway, and it doesn't help them. They know where Shepard will strike - the fusion torches are obvious objectives. Kate should have cooperated, and her brother Aaron would have likely lived as a hostage (they did let Kate live). She also comments on how she will use her engineering skills to eliminate the feedback on the communications, which also stupid. She should have hid or escaped. If she was to do anything, it should be to disable any of the dozens of turrets, or a fusion torch. Admittedly, this is a bit misgynostic, but how like a woman to think that talking qualifies as doing something (just joking).

lol i admit, when playing thru that DLC the first time i was very annoyed with her. nothing she relays to shepard is even remotely useful.

  • " i heard your broadcast, i dont know who you are... but, dami----!"
  • "im reading that the fusion torch is off..... is that you?"
  • "just keep doing what you're doing."
  • "the leader is really pissed off, hes setting charges everywhere, hes going to blow this whole facility."]
it just seemed like every time she said something it was either stating the obvious, or asking questions she already knew the answer to. i cant stand batarians, so sadly kate always ends up getting nuked during that decision lol.

The first time I played through this dlc I kept talking to Balak thinking that the engineers locked in the room with the bomb would somehow figure out how to disarm the bomb or at least change the frequency for the detonator if they realized it can be blown up remotely. Then I could deal with Balak, capture him and parade his ex-prisoners out in front of him while he waiting for an Alliance ship to take him away.

Boy was I wrong.

I mean I don't hate her. I am naturally a Paragon, but she isn't helping. I just wish she would run or hide. If she should focus on anything, it should be disarming the bomb. Some engineer. I mean an Adept or Soldier Shepard can diffuse bombs without breaking a sweat.
