im just past the 2nd mission and about to head to the citadel, but i wanna go talk to miranda first (romance :P ) but obviously you gotta take the elevator. ALL my other loading screens load just fine in good times, but EVERY TIME i go in the normandy elevator, its literally stuck at the loading screen. like, i let it go on, went to the store, and it STILL was loading. but then when i look at my task manager, it says its "not responding"

any ideas??? thank you!

specs of your machine.

possible issue with multi-core processors, in which you need to set the affinity to a single core, there is a program called massaffinity that Bogs knows that will do this automatically.

Possible corruption with your game files.

Specs will tell us more so ck the sticky thread listed below and post'em

This new member appears to be allergic to providing a standard problem report, per prior posts.

Ski, if my sarcasm didn't stir you, it's this way in here -- you participate in the process of diagnosing your symptoms because this is a Self-Help forum. We are gamers here, asking for advice from other gamers. In summers, there are rather few readers compared to the number of newest members wanting to ask for help, so anything you can do to improve your odds of an answer is in your favor.

The basics of game playing problem reports are common across forums for PC games, although some places, the DxDiag reports are popular (I've never enjoyed trying to read any of those). Pacifien went to a lot of trouble including images and helps in her very long guide to reporting.

If you aren't interested enough in an answer to do your own part in the fact- reporting process, you'll get no useful assistance.

The main reason why I haven't played Mass Effect 2 more often is because of the incredibly LONG load times. I just found a way to shorten my load times from nearly two minutes to less then ten seconds.
(NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS WITH DUAL-CORE PROCESSORS)
Start the game and and when it gets to the main menu press alt,tab to go back to the desktop. Press ctrl, alt, del to open the task manager and find MassEffect2.exe in the processes tab. Left click on it and select "Set Affinity...", when the box comes simply deselect one of the processors and press Okay. Then reopen that box and select it again so it is again running on 2 processors. It sounds simple, but the change is dramatic.

Mcsupersport suggested that fix a month ago in this very thread.

Even if you use the affinity fix there is one issue that everyone has and that is that load times are longer than they should be because some loading animations have to be played at least once before gameplay starts. The fix was to simply replace all loading video files with one very short one that you copy and rename. I have the rar on my PC but can't find where I roginally found it.

Edit: I found a link: www.2shared.com/file/Uclyp8Gd/Movies.html

Simply drag these to your Mass Effect 2 movie folder and replace all the original files. Note that this isn't a fix of the OP's problem but a fix for other load time problems.

I already knew about this fix, but I was wondering is there any other way to do this, it's kind annoying to do this every time I start the game? Can't windows do it for me every time?

Mcsupersport already referred to the program MassAffinity.
