LOL no just to use where appropriate. That said one of my sheps is going to take on harbinger wearing bright pink, because he's just that hard and doesn't give a single ****. :P

Having Light/Medium Armour is a must! I purely play an Engineer, and running around in full plate armour is just a bit silly. When I first played ME2 I thought that "Type" would change between Light/Medium/Heavy, not whole suits.

More colouring options would be good too, with more patterns, and control thereof. For example, I'd love to set my armour to a black/grey camoflage setup, but I couldn't keep the stripe down Shepards arm red. Having small controls like that would make a huge difference.

The ability to change what symbols show on your armour would be great too, N7, Spectre, Paragon, Renegade, Cerberus, etc.

The other thing is lighting colour. Changing what colours the lights on your armour are,and visor colours would be awesome. As a techy player I'd like to be able to change my Drone and Omnitool colours too.

I want much of what was said in this thread except class based armor. Don't need a return to that.

What I want most of all is real armor customization. I don't want customization to mean color swaps and a couple of patterns. I want to, with EDI's help and/or whoever else (Tali because her skills helped her upgrade her shields in ME), decide how effective my armor is. This would be similar to how it was done in KOTOR. It will be done on the ship because doing those kinds of alterations on the fly when you're wearing it is impractical.

I can't repeat it enough:

Light and medium armor as seen in ME1 - no need for it to be class-specific, though I do think lighter armor should sacrifice armor/health/shields for power duration/cooldown/damage.

*WANT* Asari Commando combat suit.

Can I jump on the asari commando armor bandwagon? I use that armor in ME2 constantly, though it's a pain the behind to stream in that .pcc file before each mission. It looks great.

Also, I'm all for lighter armor styles. class restricted, or just visual customization, as long as there is an option to use it without jumping through gazillion hoops to mod it on...

Like this, for example.  It's a retexture of a medium N7 mesh that's in ME2, but isn't available for use without messing with the .ini file.

THIS. Who cares if you can make your armour flamingo pink, so long as it stops you getting dead?

Also, armour for female companions that looks like it could stand up to a gunshot. As opposed to Miranda's skintight latex... thing and Jack's nipple-strap. I don't want to pay money for alternate appearance packs just so I can look at my companions without cringing.

Of course, some people might prefer more revealing armour, so maybe just the choice ;)

See? This is *exactly* what I mean. And how come I haven't figured this out yet myself in ME2? <_<

I want more armor along these lines. Bold and crisp. More personality.

I'd love to see Bioware take some inspiration from the Iron Man films when it comes to some sort of animation for armour functions. Seeing a glimpse of the internals of ME's armour would be SWEET. (for example: )

Just to be clear, I'm not thinking about the jetboot-hand-laser-badass mode; that would not be very Mass Effect.
What would be nice to see is some sort of function in the armour. For example, when your shields break it's be cool if a couple of cooling vents opened up on the back to dump excess heat from the suit before recharging happens. Perhaps if your leg armour boosted running speed, you'd see a bit of the armour actually working to speed you up. This sort of thing.

After all, it's the future! I'd be a big fan of seeing the armour coming 'alive' in some capacity.

I personally loved the Blood Dragon Armor; it looks light and agile, and that plus the bonuses made it perfect for my Adept... but the helmet... :| thank god there's helmet toggle in ME3.

but yeah, lighter armors á la Asari Commando are a must have. everyone else gets a damn catsuit, so why can't my Shep wear one?

As others have been mentioning lighter armours are a must really for me.

Maybe not to the level of the catsuit styles on display. But something suitable for an adept who just sits back and doesn't need the heavy armour plates of a vanguard.

It's all about customization.... the more the better!

I agree with the guy who said... no more squadmate bs like in ME2 and DA2.

As long as playing a non-combat class doesn't restrict me to lighter armor like in ME1, I'm all for more choices. I hated being restricted to light armor as an engineer or adept.

That said, companion armor is far more important. No more catsuits, please.

I'd like this. An animated power suit in the context of a third person shooter. If ME3 does take some cues from Vanquish with futuristic armor that is alive in its own right, I'd be all over that. Fully retractable, automated helmet. Collapsible, automated weapons. Enhancements to storm speed, defenses, whatever, all reflected aesthetically.

I want my Tech Armor in brilliant blue. It would be like a blinding flashbang when it explodes.

I gotta agree with the "no weapon" option. If there's going to be a big pile of guns on Shepard's back, then I should be able to pick what to bring. I want to see my armor. An alternative is highly collapsible, compact guns. Visible, but more elegant.

Option to use armours that actually look like armours for squad mates. Helmets instead of masks for squad mates to be used in vacuum and other hostile environments.

Cerberus goon. I like this a lot. Borrows from EVA Unit 02. I hope Shepard gets armor more along these lines.

Though that armor does look nice, I still find it on the heavy side. It'd work great for an infiltrator, less for an adept imo.

Blood Dragon Armor FTW.

Am I the only one who's planing on keeping the helmet on at all times?
I'm really hoping that any DLC or pre-order armour will be both multi-part and fully customisable.
Also hoping that light/heavy armour will be a simple toggle, rather than a gameplay choice, as I want to be stuck with a style I don't like because of which class I want to play.

As I've said in a previous, but similar, thread.

I want the armour to be customizable, by which I mean being able to swap out different parts of the armour a la ME2 but I don't want these armour parts to be just bells and whistles.

I want them to each have their own practicle use like expanding space available for heat sinks, or making a significant increase in shield performance while perhaps having a detrimental effect on agility.

Something similar to how halo reach handled their armour customization, it was done really well and made sense. It would also be a natural progression for the ME2 armour system instead of falling back to ME1 just for fan service.

Recently i finished ME1 again, and I must say, that aside from all the horror the inventory system in ME1 is, there was some kind of joy, when I finally found some good Krogan/Quarian armor and Tali or Wrex changed their appearance. I think quite a lot of people is for the return of companion armors. Really, I think its quite a pain that all your companions looked exactly the same in every mission.

Let the squaddies wear casual outfits while aboard the Normandy (like Ashley and Kaidan) and armors when out on the mission.

And no more catsuits please.

Also, since I prefer playing as a female Shepard, I want armor looking like an armor, not like a steel bra.

I agree with having seperate casual wear and armour for squadmates (get to pick both). I'd also like the option to set in and out of atsmosphere helmets separately. For example, I always wear the Visor, and it defaults to the standard N7 when I need a full helmet, I'd to be able change the default to maybe the Death Mask, or Recon Hood.

Also, if I could get one armour back for ME3, it would Light Onyx from ME1. It's still one of my favourites, despite it's simplicity.

I just hope there will be class specific armors that really shows what class you are:

- Soldier: Bulkier heavier armor that for example benefits weapon damage and armor strength. The armor should make Shepard look more muscled

- Infiltrator: tight and light armor that benifits headshot damage and run speed. The armor should make Shepard look skinnier and more agile

- Engineer: Slim/medium armor with some lights that benefits Tech Damage and shields. The armor should make Shepard look skinnier and more agile

- Vanguard: Very heavy armor that benefits health and Armor. The armor should make Shepard look more muscled

- Sentinel: Medium armor with some lights on it. The Armor should give Shepard a Normal build

- Adept: Slim/Medium Armor that looks comfortable for movement (biotics). The Armor should give Shepard a Normal build
