Sure the SR-2 is a bigger, (and after a lot of upgrades) badder ship, but it never won my heart. It wasn't my ship, it was Cerberus' and it was full of spies, and not just the electronic type.
I think it would have been awesome if we'd gotten a new ship, possibly of alien make depending on how we played the previous games. Anything from a Geth to a Rachni ship or a human Cruiser.

In fact I wish one of the endgame goals would be to assemble a fleet that we would personally lead.
Maybe that's divergent from the type of game ME3 is turning out to be, maybe I'm a simulation nerd, what do you think?

I sorta agree with you... I never felt close to the SR2 the way I did about the SR1 (I cried when SR1 was destroyed :crying: ).. namely because it's tainted by TIM and Cerberus... The SR1 was special and unique.. and it was built as a combined effort by humans and turians - a noble step to bring the two species closer together.

Shep said it best early in ME2. "It's not the same Joker, there's nothing here that was even part of the real Normandy."

About the only saving grace of the SR2 is EDI... but she could be transplanted to another ship, but my fondness for her has nothing to do with her being the brain of the ship, but her as an entity... she could be the brain a garbage scow ship and I'd still like her.

I'm hoping though in ME3 that the SR2 once again is made to feel like the SR1 did, what with all the alliance techs having given it a makeover.... maybe the stench of Cerberus will be lifted from it finally.

I wasnt a fan of the interior for the SR-2.  Its squeeky clean hospital finish never felt right.   But to have yet a another new ship...   Its not really needed.   It will be nice to have some stability and a familiar setting.

I think Bioware will make some great improvements on the SR-2. There is a lot of space to take advantage of and it sounds like there will be a lot of polish and upgrades based on feedback.

A cruiser would just be clumsy. Not to mention that they would never be able to pick up Shepard from Earth that fast.

Nah, I like the SR2. Once you get past the Cerberus logo spam and that awful orange tint, she's an excellent ship.

And she has leather seats!

SR-1 was Anderson's ship. SR-2 was built for Shepard.

Whilst I didn't like the Cerberus side to it, I preferred the SR2 over the SR1, by the looks of things the SR2 has been given an Alliance overhall in ME3 (logo and all) which I personally don't like, but don't get me wrong I would like an overhall (logo and all) for the post-Cerberus SR2, just not one done by the Alliance; I'm a bit nervous about what they've done to it, the crew, and EDI.

So that's why I always felt uneasy on those SR2 bathrooms........

hmmm, I would only want be on another ship if it was some badA@@ dreadnought, but that would ruin the whole point of the Normandy being the only ship that can cloak from others. Also if it was a Human ships it could not be called the Normandy because only frigates can be called by famous battles, dreadnoughts are all named after mountains. Though it would be cool to ride around on the FUJI.

That or the Qwib Qwib, for lolz

Truth be told the new paint and markings and refit was probably just so the alliance could hand the ship over to the VS Spectre like they handed the original Normandy over to Shepard. The only reasonable reason for the VS to be on the ship when it picks up Shep in the demo to begin with. And, if I'm right about that, I'll be really torqued at the Alliance for trying to steal my ship.

I'd hate it if thats the reason why they've done it, or something along those lines, but if it is I hope we can shove the VS into the nearest airlock. Then again if the ship is stolen and given to the VS, Shepard might not even be in charge of the Normandy.

Yeah, it kinda annoys me that the alliance took it upon themselves to confiscate a privately owned ship and do stuff to it, before the owner has even been to trial. Is the future Earth in the grip of a dictatorship? I mean, I turned myself in! And they STOLE MY SHIP!?

Not only did the thing cost Cerberus a lot of money before I rescued it from them, but how much money did I pour into it in terms of resources? It has state of the art EVERYTHING! You can't just go on eBay and buy one of these things!

All the wasted space on the SR2 annoyed me - like the random recess in MIranda's quarters; that could easily have been an en-suite bathroom. That random room between the lab and the bridge, what's that about? There was enough room for full crew quarters just sitting there around engineering; wall it off, get some stairs from the deck above and BAMN! No more pods for MY crew. And what is Grunt's room for? Zaeed's is obvious, but Grunt's seems to be a small cargo area... right next to the GIANT CARGO AREA. if they make good use of the space I'll forgive them for stealing my ship.

Maybe.

If the changes are awesome.

And Kaidan apologises for being an donkey the last time we met.

Oh, Shepard will be in charge. I don't think either VS has what it takes to try to stand up to a pissed-off Shep.

Yeah now that I think about it... how DOES the alliance just confiscate a privately owned ship? It does seem a bit strange to me after all the original normandy WAS blown up and this was a bigger replica... I find it strange they took it upon themselves to confiscate it and re-fit it.

If they touched my Prothean table decoration heads will roll you hear me! Roll!

i hope theres an actual weapons bay/armory area this time so that we dont just have garrus stood around in a strange room claiming he's working on cannons and such even though theres barely any controls around for such things, also access to the shuttle bay area would be good since other than looking out the window we dont actually see how people get to that area(im guessing its via grunts room but not 100% sure)

Well jacob was in the armory. Garrus was in the "Forward Batteries" Which is where i'm assuming the control assemblies for the Main Gun was. Which is why he's always standing around "Calibrating".
THe shuttle bay i'm assuming was accessed by the Elevator, we just weren't able to access it normally *shrugs*

It would be nice however, if Squadmates could move around the ship int he final game... even if its just restricted to the same floor, seeing them in different positions and locations would lend a lot to making the ship feel alive.

Also more crew banter too. I liked that from 2

This is how it probably gong to go down if the Alliance DARES give my fully upgraded, awesome Normandy, to Ashley:
Ash: So, since your new aboard, I'd like to show you around my ship...
Shep: You mean my ship!
Ash: Well actually, the Alliance gave this ship to me as a gift for being a specter, so things have changed a bit here.
Shep: Well, as I recall, I was the one who invested million f credits into this thing, took it to the collector base, and destroyed yet another reaper, and stopped the abduction of colonists that you people in the alliance were to useless to stop!
Ash: Well I' sorry but... (thud, she is pistol whipped)
Shep: Well, I am sorry that you have to keep on being such a ****, as that was I really good pistol Tali just cracked on your skull.
As: What?! How did Tali get in here? We imprisoned your crew when you were on trial!
Shep: Well luckily for Tali, she is really good at climbing through air ducts, honed i the collector base, while you were strutting around calling me a traitor. That, and having sex with me.
Ash: What, you cheated on me?!
She: As I recall, you dumped me on Horizon after calling me a traitor, even though I was saving human colonies.
Ash: I can't believe you cheated on me with a bucket head.. (thud, gets pistol whipped by Tali again)
Shep: k, you can quit talking you racist, as you're goin to the brig of MY ship, and Tali, Legion and I are going to kick some Reaper @SS!
