A cruiser would just be clumsy. Not to mention that they would never be able to pick up Shepard from Earth that fast.

Actually the SR2 is closer to being a Cruiser then a Frigate almost, given that it's twice the size of the original. If I remember correctly the SR2 isn't suppose to be capable of landing planetside hence the need for the Kodiak Shuttle in the first place. Which makes the scene in ME3 where the Normandy flies in low to pick up Shepard a bit suspect.

I'm really starting to think I should just not read the Codex since nothing seems to adhere to it. (Although to be fair ME1 had inconsistencies too, some pretty glaring scale problems with the description of the Citadel. Actually there's was always a lot of scale problems present. So my nerd is just getting the better of me it seems.)

Anyways...

The SR2 is being heavily remodeled so it'll be close to being a new version of the SR2. I do admit I still miss the original cozy Submarine feel of the original. Felt like a Warship. I dunno what to think about SR2 just that it's overly bright and shiney really. Makes sense in places like the Mess Hall (which is actually rather dimly lit), Med-Bay, and Cargo areas since you want to be to see stuff. But the C.I.C. really shouldn't be overly bright since everyone's going to be looking at screens and stuff, etc.

Ash: What, you cheated on me?!
She: As I recall, you dumped me on Horizon after calling me a traitor, even though I was saving human colonies.
Ash: I can't believe you cheated on me with a bucket head.. (thud, gets pistol whipped by Tali again)
Shep: k, you can quit talking you racist, as you're goin to the brig of MY ship, and Tali, Legion and I are going to kick some Reaper @SS!

Did they paint a girl in a cheesecake pose on the Normandy 2 while I was not looking?

If only. But Miss Vas Normandy refused to pose for it.

SR-2 can land on some planets, just not on higher-gravity ones.

But just because SR-2 can land on planets, it doesn't have to. A shuttle is much more practical. SR-2 requires a landing area four times as large as SR-1, it wastes a huge amount of fuel, it's not very discreet and it's a huge and expensive target.

SR-2 is pretty much a cross between a frigate and a cruiser. It's still small enough to be a frigate, it's fast and obviously stealthy. On the other hand, it has cruiser's firepower and survivability. Capable of both jobs, I'd say.

I rather like the SR2, she was built by Cerberus but is Shepard's ship, independant from either Cerberus or the Alliance. If she got destroyed at the beginning of ME3 and we got a new ship that would just be cheesy as hell.

I hope they at least swept the damn thing for Cerberus surveillance equipment first.

This. I loved this.

I was sad to see the SR2's interior turn out to be a luxury hotel with the bright lights. Probably because Cerberus didn't allow for shore leave like the Alliance does, but still... the Engineering floor could definitely have been done up like the SR1's; dark, comfortable, and sleek.

I love the SR2 especially Shepard's Captains Quarters but I kind of want him to smash his models like Picard in Star Trek First Contact and say "the line must be drawn here!"

I'm more upset its becoming an Alliance vessel. As a civilian ship, we had ability to go "pants optional".

Actually, according to the art book the SR2 was supposed to be very much like the SR1, a copy that was somewhat beat-down.

And they're going to 'retrofit' the Normandy, the interior is probably going to get a gigantic overhaul so it'll be a lot like a new ship.

I wouldn't worry about Shepard being in charge.

Neither Ash nor Kaidan are likely to be that ignorant regardless of how you feel about them, nor do they have the talent to take Shep's command.

On-topic, I liked both.

The Normandy is Shep's ship. The SR-1 and SR-2 are simply stages of evolution of his ship, and I think the refitted SR-2 will be even better.

Gotta disagree. The SR2 is a thing of beauty. A human warship for a human spectre. She's nothing but death and destruction from her powerful engines, to needle prow. And she's damned sexy too.

The SR2 is awesome imo.

The only thing I would change would be the interior lighting (I liked the non-OSHA compliant lighting in the SR1), and I would add WWII style nose art on the hull (with a pinup girl and a silly pun like "Squid Slayer")

I find this discussion odd. Complaining about the SR-1 and SR-2 is like Kirk complaining that the Enterprise 1701-B didn't have "those cool buttons and knobs" that 1701-A and 1701 does

Kaiden tries to claim my ship, he gets promptly air locked........It took me a while to adjust to the new Normandy, but once I did, I like the ship...just get rid of the Cerberus insignia's and I will be more than happy....not so sure about being under anyones control though, be that Cerberus, Alliance, Council, any of them.

LOL, someone's butthurt...

LOL, but it was amusing.  I don't have a strong connection to the sr2 I'd trade it to the alliance for something, not sure what.  But if I have any say ingame I won't just let them take the ship, Sheperd would have to give it to them.

I hope there's an option to erase all those pesky Alliance logos around the ship once I reclaim her. An option to throw VS out of the airlock without speaking a word to them would be nice, too. My Shepard has no patience for the Alliance lackeys after dealing with everything, the trial and the invasion, and the dying civilians.

If the crew is composed of Alliance people, I'd love to get rid of them, too. EDI can handle the entire ship on her own, I don't even know why she needs a pilot. Organics are inferior where space piloting is concerned. Besides, the Alliance crew can't handle my style. I'd rather not find myself in the middle of a mutiny when I need support most.

Granted, I nearly found myself in the middle of a mutiny at the end of ME2, all that with my teammates preaching and chastising me - and that's coming from the criminals and hired killers and cold-blooded murders, none of which gave a damn about the galaxy before I picked them up, and now they suddenly wanted to judge me from some high moral ground, as if they knew what to do better than I did! So I'm guessing handpicking the organics doesn't do much good, at the end. Might as well work with whatever's given to me.

Oh, and I want to know what the hell happened to EDI and Lazarus Cell.

While I actually liked the look the SR1 better, (SR2 looks too much like a plane IMO) it was just given to you for the mission. The Captain's cabin doesn't feel like Shepard's room. The SR2 was built for Shepard's use and it feels that way. And blowing it up again would cheapen it.

I hate the new paintjob though. Why couldn't they just remove the Cerberus logo and call it a day? This chrome finish doesn't look right.
