i feel silly doing all the love stuff, it sounds cheesy to me and i can't be serious about it without making a inappropriate comments. I can not be serious when i have to be serious.

if it sounds cheesy, it probably is.

lots of people go through long periods or even their whole lives without getting into "serious" or committed relationships. many of my friends, both female and male, just want to continue having fun and "hooking up" with no strings attached.

personally, I broke up with my g.f. a couple months ago and when I got home from a long business trip it was awesome and relaxing to be home again and totally alone in my own house for once.  no roommates, no girlfriend.

maybe I'll end up married or living with a gf again at some point, but right now I have absolutely zero interest in any monogamous relationship.

It's a lot more complex than that. When a woman likes a guy enough, sometimes her infatuation with him will blind her from seeing his major flaws.

Guys are the same way. I've seen guys with absolute b*tches for girlfriends. They're completely blinded by whatever positive qualities that their girlfriends have, that they completely overlook the negatives.

No man likes to date a b*tch and no woman likes to date a jerk, but like I said, sometimes there's something about the person that makes you overlook that.

This. Also I find it funny how people keep bringing this certain "girls like jerks" topic up but very rarely do you see people making "why do guys go for the complete and utter ****es" threads. They just turn it upside down and blame it all on women being ****es in general. Ummmm no, it's those over superficial, self-centered, raging ****es you keep picking up at bars cos' they look hot. Duh.

Maybe it's because in western society, the tradition is for the man to take the first step. Thus, after a certain ammount of rejection, some of them want to rant their frustration and find a culprit.

It is somehow tougher to be rejected than to never get attention.

As a rule of thumb, most of the time, women lie to themselves and others when they say they want a "nice guy".

Women are attracted to a-holes because they exude confidence. Women love confidence.

Again, not saying it applies to everyone. Some women are genuine and dislike the "jerks".

(If you do find where I posted in my other thread, please link it)This is like someone bringing up an old topic, that I exaimed in detail in another thread. Personally I think the person is just ripping off my ideas but whatever.

One of my friends put it this way:

"My boyfriend is a complete ass to other people, and I don't necessarilay like that. But he is sweet, romantic and respectful to me. So long as it stays that way, I'll stay with him. Plus, he knows I'll kick his ass if he should ever try anything."

I think the reason why girls like jerks is due to our primitive instincts - our "inner cave woman" still tells us what to do and what to seek out in a good mate. The men who are jerks now were the best hunters and leaders wayyyy back when the cavemen reigned; they are the ones who survived, and survival was the biggest priority. Whatever assured our survival, and the strength of the next generation, the woman had to choose the best "jerk". At least that's my theory.
