Fridgerator Brilliance? Huh?

So I for the first time, I found myself paging through www.tvtropes.org and happening upon the Mass Effect entries inside Fridgerator Brilliance, I found myself mind blown at a couple of things I hadn't noticed in ME1 and ME2 and which makes me even more appreciate the level of detail in design that went into these games.

One such one for me was

I know it's kind of a stretch, but "metaphorically", if you would like,
it seems like Joker was, indeed, born to fly. Think about it: hollow
bones. Like a bird's...

  • This troper (*THWACK* on the head) absolutly loves this idea.
  • Seconded!
  • That's not a stretch at all! That is freaking BRILLIANT!

Have you encountered any FB over ME1 and ME2, and what do you think might make FB or hope will become FB with ME3?

It's a little thing, but the moment I realized Garrus' facial markings were the color of Turian blood was the moment I decided I was going to bed with him for being such a badass.

Do you see what the Vatican teaches little boys?

And I'M CATHOLIC.

lol jk

But in all seriousness, there's a bunch of little bugger things like that. Can't think of them right now.

His.. scars aren't blue, actually.

That comment about Joker really makes me think of Wash from Firefly though..

Most of these little bugger things are people going out of there way to create them. Though i did check the trope page, mass effect is quite multi-layered.

But yes, these little bugger things are mainly things created in the minds of the fans.

Hell, Joker's bones and him flying can just be a coincidence.

All the same, things like this make me feel like most of it is intentional.

A minor Fridge Brilliance
for this troper, but I noticed when scanning the planet Jacob's loyalty
mission is on that there's a massive deposit of element zero right at
the location of the crashed ship. At first I thought this unusual, since
element zero is usually found only on the "post-garden" planets, but
then I realized: it was coming from the ship! The scanner was picking up
the ship's element zero core (or the eezo that was in it).

That totally sounds like its grasping at straws, lol.

I'm not entirely sure what this thread is about, but I'm posting in it.

Eh skimmed through most of these as they are fairly obvious (well to me) or really grasping at straws. Although admittedly some things require an additional playthrough to understand (like that Manuel isn't actually insane). This one was pretty good though:

In Mass Effect 2 Wrex is uniting all of the krogan tribes under his rule. Which takes on a new meaning when you remember 'Rex' is Latin for king.

I'm not sure if this is listed (perhaps too obvious?), but in each game there is a mysterious "task species" no one knows much about.

ME1 - The "Keepers"
ME2 - The "Collectors"
ME3 - The ?

Of course there's the "Reapers" themselves. What do you want to bet there will be another new task related species in ME3 though? (Might be more Reaper servants or something else entirely...)

Also it's worth noting that both the Keepers and Collectors are insectoids of sorts. Also the Reapers tried to use the Rachni (insectoids) first when taking control of the Citadel. The Reapers seems to have a liking for insects, which makes me heavily suspect the Reapers originated from an insectoid race. Many say the Reapers look like squids, but they actually have a lot of insect like features. The idea also that each Reaper is a shell to the original species is analogous to the fact that most insects also have shells/exoskeletons.

Its old knowledge that because Wrex is what he is, a krogan, which is inspired by reptiles that his name is a play on T-Rex, so that "revelation" on that trope is rather moot.

my favorite so far is the Element Zero littering the galaxy. That it was placed by the Reapers to test viability of species to create new reapers. Species compatible with biotics are more likely compatible to become reapers.

It's painfully obvious that most of these "correlationships" are manufactured. LoL at comparing Joker's brittle bone disease to a bird's bones. Joker's bones aren't "hollow", they simply lack enough collagen...VERY different than being hollow lol.
