Characters I can't take seriously.

Of course I had my favourites, but that was only because some characters were simply exceptional.

The only other character I don't care for is Thane's son. He's basically pre-MGS4 (same voice acter too) Raiden, with even less skill and experience. The fact he's only seen in two scenes; the first for a dozen seconds, the second for five minutes at the most makes me happy.
But yeah. I'm done semi-ranting.

I can agree with your analysis.
I would add Jack to that list. Did they just invent a character that fits almost every stereotype? Angst is a wonderful thing. The only thing that surprised me about Jack was that she appeared to be heterosexual.
I think you missed a conversation with Jack somewhere along the line.
Even though she's oddly enough not a romance option for FemShep, she will tell a Shep of either gender that she had threeways with two other pirates that were a couple. (one half of that couple was female)

I loathe Ashley. Ever since i found out her feelings towards other species, everything else she said was sort of like this: www.youtube.com/watch
and she's religious which adds its own layer of stigma over her racism.

Extrospection FAIL.

Point of the character isn't his skill and experience as an assassin. He emphasizes Thane's detachment issues and adds to his background as the estranged son.
I can't take Grunt seriously either. eh rages constantly and doesnt afraid of anything. Facepalmed at how Miranda handled Niket.

Jacob ... well, Jacob is just boring overall, and that has been said to death, so nothing new.
I actually like Thane ... yeah he's a mix of a few cliche's, but I tend to like those cliches, or at least some of them, and feel they where put together fairly well in him. I also liked the fact that he was actually religious, which is a nice change in a sci-fi game where they try to pretend the future is all about atheism.
I also liked EDI, despite being cliched again ... this time because EDI is a fun sci-fi cliche; artificial intelligences are just something we expect to see in the future and if you're going to have one, it better be amusing.
Legion ... I don't know ... he could have been cool, but my Shep hates Geth and so never did anything with him aside from his loyalty mission. (which was interesting, I admit)
Jack seemed like an over cliched, (oh let's face it, all the characters are cliches or mixes of a few cliches) tough girl and really never appealed to me on a deeper level.
Miranda is, technically, nothing special - but I liked her character, her competence and her attitude - so I always keep her close to me.
Tali is, for me, one of the most interesting people on the ship - more so because my Shep had a crush on her in the first game - and I find quite a bit about her and her race attractive. (and I'm not just talking physically ... though, she does have some damned nice hips)
And I loved Mordin ... he was just a fun character all around. (And if I'd had any doubts, they all went away during his song solo)

Miranda, she has no personality just DAT ASS. And she is either boasting about her perfection or moaning about it.
I like Zaeed, but I fail to take him seriously. At all. There's just something about him, he comes across more like Grandpa Simpson than a grizzled veteran.

I like Thane a lot (he's actually one of my favorite characters), but I think the mysterious terminal illness pushed him into cliche territory even more than the 'religious assassin' angle did. I know the writers wanted to use it as an impetus for him wanting to atone, but I didn't think it was necessary. I was also really surprised he had biotic capabilities and thought it was a little tacked on. I figured he was going to be a tech/gunner sort of like Shep's infiltrator class.
I agree with this so, so, so much.
Grunt: Nothing you wouldn't expect out of an adolescent krogan. They are an agressive race, and he's young and excitable. But Grunt is hyper to the point where he practically wants to be broken in half. Tresher Maw? OMG not enough!!!! Aww crap, I got killed leading 2nd fireteam? OMG this is better than sex!!!!
This, to me, is what makes Grunt so damn likeable. He's so brutishly enthusiastic about violence. It's over-the-top, just like a child's behavior. 'OMG a Claymore Shotgun! It's awesome!! I WANT ONE! Did you just see that?! It blew a hole through the neighbor's wall!!' It's almost impossible not to grin when he pounds his fists together looking like he's getting ready for a fight. Predictable, sure, but doesn't make him any less real or fun.

Nerds in Shep's team. I know that they are nice persons and have good personalities. But, hey, they've just killed twenty mercs and now in their room they are extremely shy and naive. Come on.
And I agree about EDI. I know, Bioware tried to make ME2 not so serious and that's good, but those EDI-Joker banter sometime went too much into "Are you AI or just typical cold [only outside of course] woman engineer?".
You might be surprised but I think Jacob is most believable character in ME2 team. Believable story, normal reactions, a bit racist and not much an erudite. He may be boring, but he looks real. Well, except SM, people who are ready to die don't stand in heroic pose and claim with badass voice "I'm volunteer!".

I've met plenty of people with DAT ASS and no personality. Trust me both of them are very, very real.

Garrus- Their js a reason I didn't recruit you in ME1 noiw I'm forced to recruit you in ME2 and why does Bioware assume we're buddy-buddy I am very racist towards Turians and Batarians.
Liara- Everything good happens to her its sickening. She's like a spoiled child that gets everything handed to her
Samara- Self-righteous douchebag. Don't lecture me you hypocrite
