yay this thread again

Indeed, it never takes long to get to the "whos the better voice actor" does it.

Well I will say it again anyway.  B)    Everyone has their own opinion on the VA they prefer and its all individual taste.

Does my avatar and sig sort of hint at who my favourite is? [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

3). The Jennifer Hale cult creeps me out and actively turns me off of wanting to play a Shepard of my own gender.
4). I want to counteract the male bashing that permeates this entire fandom (not just this partticular forum; I mean the entire fandom).

Wow, someone is really burned and bitter.  Where is this cult at, can you provide links?  If the entire FemShep fandom is always "bashing" MaleShep how come every single post on the FemShep thread page isn't showing, "I hate ManShep and he should be removed from the game so FemShep can take his place!"

I noticed a lot of MaleShep fans getting things twisted just because FemShep fans have a preference for their favorite character and their voice actor.  I didn't know that comparing vo's was bashing or saying that FemShep is more of a character than ManShep the avatar?  I've seen quite a lot of "women can't be soldiers, she's not strong enough to be believeable, she sounds/looks butch, and needs to get back in the kitchen" around here but you don't see many of us saying that the entire MaleShep fanbase loves to hate on FemShep.

Most of what I've been seeing is for the lead female character and her voice actor to get some more recognition.  I haven't seen demands, only request threads but the people against this say that we whine and demand .  I guess paying customers aren't allowed to request things unless they are in the majority. :?

or this.

Yep, thanks.

There are classy biotches who could do really fierce voicing for FemShep. Sandra Bernhard, for example. But not Hale

I've been a fan of FemShep ever since ME1. I like the voice acting better and I think she fits better in the game. To see more reasons why people like MaleShep or FemShep see the comments of the poll in my sig. ;)

Fierce, you say?

Hale is already fierce. Make no mistake.

FemShep all the way, girl power!

There's tons of reason why I do play her, so brace yourself:

Jennifer Hale is awesome! And my recognition of her voice work goes all the way back to when I was a kid. (Meer... when was Mass Effect released again?) Jennifer Hale also brings the character to life, moreso to me than her male counterpart who sounds monotonous and bland in comparison.

I always play a female character when given a choice, and I also tend to use nothing but females in my parties.

I may not be a woman myself, but I know what I like to see. So, it's much easier for me to create a face for a female character to look good and have an emotional connection.

I love strong female characters, whether they be physically strong and have muscles or mentally strong. FemShep I feel is all of that, but she could use some musculature. Hell, Jack could use some too. (Take a look at Meryl Silverburgh from Metal Gear Solid 4 to get an idea of what I'm talking about)

I'd rather look at a female's backside than want to throw up because I have to look at some dude's.

Last reason: the male version of Shepard is ugly, though that's not saying much coming from me.

Eh, to each their own.
For example, I think Mark Meer is a fantastic voice actor (Jethann, anyone?), but his Shepard never convinced me. He improved somewhat in ME2, but I think the performance still rather tastes of cardboard.

Oh girlfriend, you will laugh but I think the very same of Hale. She's totally one-sided and unconvincing.

My main Shepard is a woman (I'm one too), I have three sub-shepards: one male, two female for different choices/romance runs. I plan to make one more male shep to explore the other romances.
I always make custom Shepards because if there's character customisation I'm going to use it! I like having a Shepard that is 'mine'.

I don't really have a preference I like both Meer and Hale. I do have more Male Shep than Fem Shep playthroughs, but I still have 9 months till ME3 :P

How can a personal preference about a choice of game character become an argument? Why must everything become an argument? It's bizarre.

Ah. I guess I should avoid trying to go by the saying 'live and let live' then. It's obviously not what happens on the internet :)

That is sounding an awful lot like reason, missus...we don't take too kindly to that around these 'ere parts.

OT: One incentive I have for playing as the male incarnation is that the character creator allowed me to make a MaleShep with the looks of Henry Rollins.

...well, kind of.

I'm a woman and I play female characters. Mass Effect is not an exception. So only FemShep for me :)
