You'll always get same answers.

It's either preference or "I don't like VA of X and Y is superior" or some troll/sexist.

I ment for everyone to talk about why you like male/female shepard, not to argue about others preferance. I wanted to know if playing as male or female feel deferant before I start a femshep play through and I think the answer is yes.

Mark is cool, expressive and funny. Jennifer sounds bored and monotonous. Of course there's a difference. But you won't enjoy the emptiness and dryness of her lacklustre voicing.

I actualy found it to be the other way around, to the point of having serious trouble with playing a consumate professional of a femshep, becasue Hale sounds so emotional.

IMO, Mark Meer does great renegade, he fumbles with romance dialogue and his paragon is fine, Hale sometimes deepens her voice a bit too much, but her paragon is very compassionate and her renegade is a mixed bag - sometimes awesome, and sometimes unintentionaly funny.  I prefer playing femshep because I can relate to female avatars more then male, but I play both.  to me they do feel different, but it goes beyond VO.

P.S.  I decided not to let some of the femshep bashing maleshep players color my opinion on playing male shepard.  its not character's fault that some of its fans are ....questionable

Meer underacts, Hale overacts, but they both have their moments of awesome. (The above picture in the above post is awesome btw.)

Fans of both have their few really crappy fans that bash the other side, making all the fans look bad. You don't have to choose to be one of these types of people, however, just to defend your preference.

Shepard is basically the same character either way, just with a different gender and voice. Prefer what you will prefer and don't judge others for their choices.

I prefer Hale's VA over Meers but that's me... there's absolutely nothing wrong with prefering the VA of Meer over Hale's. We're all different and like different things and that's great! They both do a great job making Shepard as awesome as possible

Both Hale and Meer does a good job voiceacting.
I play both femSheps and maleSheps and find them all fun to play for different but similar reasons.
I mostly play Sheps of my own gender but that doesn't mean I have anything against FemShep.

I never did a complete playthrough for femshep, but I like both their voice acting. Sure they both have some flaws but thats nothing major to be concerned about.

Oh by the way some people might think this is a stupid thread to start with because it seems to be a big topic for debate. Sorry about that. I am quite new to the threads and I didn't know about what happened to similar threads untill now.

Why should I?
Everyone is entitled to play and enjoy the game as they see fit.
Internet strangers views shouldn't change that.
If they don't agree, fine.
I don't know them and i'll play the game the way i want to.

That's because I said "crappy" and not "creepy," but I do agree with you.

Both the VA are great. Everyone should remember that they take their cues from a voice director when recording. They also do several takes of a line (with varrying levels of emotion) which Bioware chooses as the one they want. So Meer's underacting and Hale's overacting is a result of Bioware choosing different lines for male shep and female shep. Don't blame the voice actors...blame Bioware.

But also, for me, personally, as a female, I *love* looking at my female player character's behind while playing video games.  LOVE IT.

DudeShep a bit more because Meer kinda fits the whole image of an "Alliance Soldier and Spectre". You know, a soldier! Not an opera actor.

Still I like them both equally, really.. it's just some idiotic pretentious fans who have to belittle the other gender and mainly the voice actor to make their point. That makes me ****ing sick and tired.
