Just add a visibility toggle for heavy weapons, similar to the helmet toggle feature. Problem solved.

I just imagined  that the wrong way from what you meant.

Whipping out an invisible Cain.

I like Shep's look without weapons too, but it doesn't really bother me that the weapons go on specific places on his/her back, as that's coherent with canon...

Those "blue things" are small mass effect field generators that actually keep the weapons in place when you don't use them, that's why you don't need holsters... :)

Interesting fact. I hadn't known that before. Well in that case I wanna see my damn Mass effect generator.

This is what I had been thinking. I liked how I seen him without it. Perhaps an ability of soilder is to have grenades replace heavy weapon since you will be clutter with other weapons.

I prefer aethetics to practicality, so I actually edit my weapon loadouts in the .ini to remove Heavy weapons from all the classes except the soldier (which I actually never play, heh). Before i got into (however limited) modding though, I always used the Flame Thrower due to it's smallest fit.

While cain explosion was fun once or twice, and arc projector made short work of some encounters, they bothered me. I'd love to have an option to ditch them, or equip them on other squad members who could have expertise with those. Mind you, not on everyone. Can you imagine Miranda with Cain? :P

Miranda with a minical laugh while firing off one at a cerberus ship(assuming she resigned from Cerberus.)

Very much so. I agonized for awhile over whether or not to take a sniper rifle or an assault rifle purely based on which one clipped the least with my Heavy Weapon, and used the flamethrower a lot of the time because it caused the least amount of interference.

Then I just edited the heavy weapon away and gave my vanguard a sniper and assault rifle. Which probably overpowered me a bit, but whatever.

There will be more than just one in ME3, of that you can be sure.

Not gonna make an awesome weapon like the Cain or Arc Projector to just scrap em! :)

!!??
How can you hate Heavy weapons

The Collector beam is great for rough situations and taking out Mechs bosses etc.
Blizzard Cannon is great for husks and mechs.
Arch Projector is phenominal for Vanguard/Sentinel/Adept/Enginner.
Cain is just well yeah.

Most of the heavy weapons are really usefull for dealing with enimies quickly or those that have tons of shiled and armor.

developers said, it's not my idea...

edit: sorry i misunderstand this:
You will have one heavy weapon, like in ME2, but there'll be more variety.
[/list]I just hope I don't have to carry it...

Walk up to Aria and shoot her point blank with a Cain.
"Don't. ****. With Shepard."
"And if you forget, Shepard will remind you personally with a Cain to the face."

I'd prefer heavy weapons not being part of every-day attire to be honest. Heavy weapons are, in general, massive specialty weapons. Other then small grenade launcher stuff they usually stay stored on the back of a vehicle or something till its required and then 1-2 guys carry it somewhere.

That in mind it would be nice if they where specific to certain encounters. But that kind of kills the mass variety there going for with them. Think they said there's going to be even more of em in ME3, I personally think that's a mistake, if you take all of the ones in ME3 and add more its... I dunno, I'd rather see more basic weapons then more heavy ones.

Then I literally almost 'never' use them. I tend to use em if I've died a few times and just want to bypass an encounter so my opinions a bit biased against them already. I usually carry the Arc-thingy, its fits on the back rather small and the other guns 'fit' to it better then most the other ones. Plus if you have to kill groups quick it does a good job.

This /\\

but mostly,

I prefer the look without the heavy weapon.

I definitely don't want to bring all weapons at all times and if I have grenades as a soldier than I would probably leave the heavy weapon behind.

They really need to listen up and give us a  "None" option in some of the weapon slots, as others have mentioned.

I rarely use heavy weapons at all since they're not really necessary so I'd like to be able to just not bring them to begin with.
If I do I think they should be visible on Shep's back though, it would look stupid if he just conjured up a grenade launcher or whatever from thin air.

So best solution imo would be to let us just not bring a heavy weapon, or for that matter other weapon types we might not want to use for whatever reason.

But then those who love a certain heavy weapon can only use said heavy weapon on those missions...
I love my flamethrower, always have. If I can only use my flamethrower on mission A and have to use the missile launcher (I hate this weapon entirely) for Mission B, I will be pissed.

The toggle is the best solution. Those who dislike the heavy weapons do not have to use them. Those that like a certain heavy weapon can continue to use that one weapon. Those that like to switch between different heavy weapons can choose to do so.
