I don't understand how you guys can be satisfied with that ending. Personally I would find it a waste of time if I spent all that time on a game and just died in the end.

Also no flame wars or fighting of any kind, these are opinions, nothing more.

I think it should be a possible ending. There are huge odds against you, and they aren't just gunning against organic life, they've got a vendetta against you personally. Those are some pretty tough odds to survive. Possible, sure, but not inevitable. I would like a Shepard wins all ending, but I can understand if he dies for some people.

If I get bad closure in ME3. I''ll reply the whole game and pick that ending.

I don't see a problem with it, and I definitely don't see how it's a "waste of time". Shepard's primary goal is to stop the Reapers. Shepard's primary goal is not to survive. If there's a possible ending where Shepard dies, but defeats the Reapers, I'd be fine with it.

Now, I think there going to make it to where you get to continue playing after the game, so I doubt this will happen. Instead of a Shepard dying ending, there will probably be an ending where victory is achieved at a high cost.

I dont think many people want that ending. But theres no doubt that it will be an ending if you make enough incorrect decisions.

Im assuming it will be more likely in ME3.  For ME2 you actually had to work at killing Shepard.

I don't mind the option of dying, I'd just feel let down if I died. My Shepards invincible.

yea it should be a possible ending, and should be easier to get than in me2, because in me2 you really needed to do bad in that to die in the end, but i want a good ending where shepard and his crew live, udina is dead or a burn victim, the turian council member has to **** there while shepard does the told you so dance and song, going AH YES REAPERS,
large numbers from every race has been wiped out but in the end life goes one, and everybody loves shepard, and the next time he is yelling to people about ancient machine race coming to kill everyone they will listen

There must be conditions for that ending to happen....Mind on a love interest or something. Thats the only thing I can think of.

I understand if you worked hard throughout your campaign and you get that at the end though.

I seriously doubt that there would be two ancient machine races bent on killing everyone.........

OH sh*t there's Necrons too isn't there?

I would love the whole Reaper rogue AI ending, where they tell you they're doing it for your own good, because there's something worse out there... End the Shepard story and begin the Private. Wilson story (Fan fiction I'm working on in my head(yes I'm a bit of a nut job (I enjoy talking to myself and puting brackets in brackets(like Inception).).)

What's more epic than a well-written heroic sacrifice?

I'd rather have my Sheps survive (most of them anyway), but I can definitely see why people would be intrigued by having the Commander sacrifice her/himself to stop the Reapers.

*spoiler for inFamous 2 *

I recently just finished inFamous 2 with the good karma ending. Cole dies, so do all the monsters and conduits like him. But his fat stupid traitorous sidekick gets all better and so do the rest of the normal humans. And the twist at the end basically just turned the whole game into a damned if you do damned if you don't pile of dog crap. And it was effectively (would take too long) impossible at the end to actually change the direction for your choice.

It was stupid and unsatisfying. I swear to god if I get railroaded into a Shepard dies ending because of all the "shepard needs to die for the story to be meaningful" idiots on this board I'm going to be royally pissed off.

I think we should ALL get to have the ending we want for our Shepards' stories, like Bioware has been touting the whole time. If you want the reapers to win, fine. Shepard and LI and squad live happily ever after, fine. And any place on the spectrum in between, within the capabilities of the game.

I think, if it's handled well, then I wouldn't have a problem. Something like *Spoiler* Fallout 3's original good ending where you sacrifice yourself to save everyone would be okay, however, if they then made it out that his sacrifice was in vain, that would anger me. I'm still hoping for a paragon ending where Shepard survives though.

did you not know? it is now the "cool" thing to do, the "mature and adult" way to go

either the hero succeedes and dies or he succeedes after a great personal loss

yeah

no thanks

Did you play the fisrt one? The good ending has a similar feel in that one too. In fact the entire theme of the Good side is that Cole is willing to sacrifice his own well-being/happiness for the good of others

I don't think we'll have a Shepard dies ending.

It'll be more "The Reapers kicked your ass".

As long as I go out like the Warden, I don't see Shepard dying as a problem.

I think the large majority of players would be pissed with that ending but some people like the dark "everyone dies" endings.

I can see it as a possible ending, as in ME2, but not a likely one.

Though it is a sad ending, it's the most realistic. It took so much to kill just one with basically everyone fighting, and now there's an army. How could it possibly go any better? Though it was a freak accident shepard almost died fighting the first reaper too ya know. The only possible outcome of people living is if bioware comes up with some super abstract star trek make-everything-better plot device that seemingly comes out of nowhere. Like a newfound weakness or a bigass gun. That just doesn't seem real to me.

I don't think I'd like Shepard dying for most of my playthroughs, it wouldn't feel right in the context of the story.  I wouldn't mind if there's a possibility for it to happen but I'm not sure how they'd implement it without implying that certain choices are "right" or "wrong" (probably tied to morality) or making it as easy to avoid as the Suicide Mission (thus being more of a fun extra for those that make the effort).

I suppose it might work if they wrote it particularly well but it's hard to imagine preferring it to an ending where Shepard lives.

I would prefer an ending where you destroy the reapers at the cost of the universe (perhaps, space, time, existence as we know it) itself.
