NYC is overdone in the media.  So is Los Angeles.

I wouldn't want to see my native Virginia in any fiction, though.  People see a southern state and they automatically stereotype it as everybody having an exaggerated "deep south" accent.

And don't forget racist.<_<

How
about Philadelphia? For such a large east coast city, Movies seem to
ignore it in favor of New York or D.C. (Although I might be a bit
biased)

Well, there's The Philadelphia Story,
PHiladelphia (w/Tom Hanks) and The Young Philadelphians! So hey, that's
three movies right there - hehe.

Yeah, but it never gets destroyed like NYC and D.C. do.

You forgot "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

Because I am tired of any part of America being the be all and end all of the entire universe.

There are cities that are far more interesting, culturally diverse, architecturally beautiful and have higher populationsetc etc than New York...and indeed many of the cities that are commonly portrayed in popular fiction.

The argument that they are easily identifiable is only really valid because of the reluctance to use any other location.

The constant overuse of America is a tired cliche that has run its course. Move on. There is much more to see.

Maybe the Second City is an alternative?

I'm sorry. I don't know what you mean.

And stupid. *cough*familyguy*cough*

I'd actually be interested in seeing future Tokyo, but they might not speak English... and seeing it get destroyed would be considered "too soon", considering the natural disasters in Japan recently.

I'd love to see Taiyuan (the capital of Shanxi province) in ME3. Don't see it happening, but still it'd be nice to see the old town burn.

But as for New York. I wonder how many people will be comparing it's destruction to all the other times they've watched it destroyed in various media over the years? But I don't mind over much, I just hope to visit somewhere else during the game, at least for a while.

Well, I would like to Athens mass effect-style. Mainly because I live there...
But I think it is highly unlikely. Just name one movie featuring Athens.

Well maybe not featuring Athens but Greece and it's islands have been in several movies, though they do mention Athens in Bourne Identity.  No major scenes set in Athens though that I can recall...maybe some of For Your Eyes Only - Bond (Roger Moore).

New York is too ghetto.
We need other cities in other countries.

What about Los Angeles? Imagine Shepard touching down in Compton, watching gangsters and police alike trying to fight off the Reapers. That would be awesome.

And then stealing a hover cab and gaining 2 stars right?
This isn't Mass theft effect, we don't need any of that thanks -_-

Simple answer to that; there hasn't been any lol.

I'm guessing they picked locations that the general public would immediately recognise but there may be others included, Bioware haven't given us an itinerary of locations used yet, or have they?

You know, I've never considered this state southern.  And I've lived here all my life.

I'd want to see Japan, New York and LA I agree that they've been done to death.

And I'm not talking about destruction of the city.

Well's it's not like we would see the Statue of Liberty destroyed. If Kasumi's LM is any indication, it already is >.>

Please no New York, there are already way too many books, movies and games that use it as a cliche destruction place.

The Reapers won't destroy Chicago, they want the infastructure to remain intact to that human husks can make them enough deep dish pizzas to freeze for a take out order back to the outer rim of the galaxy. It gets boring out there and there's never a good pizza place that far out. It likely would be a couple of millions years before another organic race emerges and invents good pizza.

New York is very much overdone, and it is also the other great pizza capitol. Maybe we can get the Reapers to start a war amongst themselves over Deepdish vs. New York style pies. Image IPB
