We should go somewhere we've never been before, like... like... Mombasa for example.

Would that be old Mombasa or New Mombasa? B)

Nobody want to see NYC in Mass Effect because it's getting old.

I love to see my city in games >.>

And Crysis 2 wasn't like 2 centuries in the future it was a decade and barely anything changed.

We should let them come to Amsterdam. Give 'em some weed. talk it over. I'm sure it was all a big misunderstanding.
Would love to hear Harbinger say. "Hey Shepard, ASSUMI~ WHAZZAAAAA!!!"

^I don't care if it's 2 000 years in future, NO MORE NEW YORK!

We have too many alien invasion movies and games that are set in New York.

I'd like them to get abit more original and show us a city thats become significant in the few hundread years between now and then that isnt currently considered to be very important.

I'm liking the idea of the Seattle-Vancouver super city.

you know what? skip the US entirely. Been done to death. paris and london as well. Get some other famous cities that hasn't been exploited to the point of becoming tedious already already.

I don't want to see NYC or LA both are over used to the point of being cliche.

Any USA city, town, or rural setting would be a billion times better.

Why do people not want NYC in a ME game? Simple because Europeans suffer from a massive inferiority complex. The massive phallic symbol that is the Empire State building makes them want to slit their wrists.

*Runs away*

*Comes back*

All terrible jokes aside, New York has been done to death for a reason. It's fun to see the landmarks that American's grew up with wrecked. One of the largest, and most culturally important cities in the history of the world needs to be shown at least in a passing shot. Doesn't have to be more than a cutscene.

This post is part of the reason that I'm glad BioWare doesn't really listen to us.  Yeah, let's show the Pacific Islands, or Bermuda.  Hey! How about the tribal parts of Africa?  That would make a really interesting cutscene...

Those would be located in orbit. Can't build dreadnoughts in gravity.

you can build frigates and cruiser though i'm sure. besides they have to have large military bases somewhere on the ground.

And why would the reapers be worried about them? what exactly are any ground based forces going to do against them? they're here to exterminate and/or capture people. any opposition would simply be regarded with a meh... vaporize, and back to work.

it would just make sense, any kind of opposition is still opposition. which does in fact make your job harder, even when you are three killometers high. besides it would look cool to see ships getting blown out of the air oor trampled by the reapers.

Right, because there's nothing more important than the US. You do realise there are plenty other important cities/countries in the world? Europe alone offers so much choice. Take Britain or Germany. Both of them have significant influence. Or France. Being invaded is a French tradition. Kinda.

The last sentence in your post is funny.  I was commenting on the fact that tobynator89 wants BioWare to skip not only the US, but also Paris and London as well.  What else does that leave exactly? Posted Image

Nevermind that everyone important from Earth in Mass Effect has a North American accent.

And that justifies having NYC or the US in the game...how? Just because they didn't go through the trouble of having VAs with an accent? Do you really believe everybody speaks with an American accent in the future? I didn't know the US were after world dominance again...

Also, I said nothing about London or Paris. Only Britain and France. And it doesn't matter anyway, because BioWare made it's choice anyway.

Impossible. If Shepard were Canadian he'd look like this:

That being said, I think if Canada were destroyed it would be...humorous. "A terrible day for Canada...and therefore, the world."

I was under the impression that Shepard is Canadian (by heritage, if you're not an earthling). Let's see them in Vancouver, Montreal or Toronto!

Or in Europe. Rome? Berlin? Hell, Stockholm.

Edit: Looks like I was severely ninja'ed.

You're right. It doesn't matter, but avoiding the US (the main source of a BioWare games revenue) in the game would be a very... stupid decision.  Who cares about NYC really?  There are lots of other major cities in the US that could be shown:  Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Las Vegas, New Orleans- any of which would provide a great backdrop for destruction for us in the US (again, the main source of revenue for this game).  Not saying that the few scenes should be US-centric because let's face it, seeing Taj Mahal, or New Dehli being destroyed would be fantastic.  Just saying that the US shouldn't be ignored, especially because of a few European- xenophobes, or psuedo-intellectuals on this site say it should.
