you know what? skip the US entirely. Been done to death. paris and london as well. Get some other famous cities that hasn't been exploited to the point of becoming tedious already already.
This post is part of the reason that I'm glad BioWare doesn't really listen to us. Yeah, let's show the Pacific Islands, or Bermuda. Hey! How about the tribal parts of Africa? That would make a really interesting cutscene...
Right, because there's nothing more important than the US. You do realise there are plenty other important cities/countries in the world? Europe alone offers so much choice. Take Britain or Germany. Both of them have significant influence. Or France. Being invaded is a French tradition. Kinda.
The last sentence in your post is funny. I was commenting on the fact that tobynator89 wants BioWare to skip not only the US, but also Paris and London as well. What else does that leave exactly?
Nevermind that everyone important from Earth in Mass Effect has a North American accent.
Ok lets go over some of the many MANY cities available here.
Vienna, copenhagen, stockholm, madrid, barcelona, Rome, Berlin, Frankfurt, warzaw, Amsterdam, krakow, st. petersburg. athens, Dubai, Beijing, marseille, hong kong, singapore, Sydney, brasilia, sao polo etc, etc,
Let's tackle this in sections:
Rome- definitely. Extraordinarily important city in the world.
St. Petersburg- Pass. Make it Moscow instead.
Marseille- pass. Make it Paris instead. Much more recognizible.
Warsaw- Why?
Amersterdam- Not enough iconic landmarks, just my opinion.
Dubai- definitely.
Beijing- pass for Hong Kong.
Tokyo should have been on the list
Sao Paulo- pass for Rio. More recognizible.
Sydney- definitely.
Athens- only a passing shot of Parthenon being destroyed. That's sufficient.

Need somewhere with Iconic monuments. NYC has these, but have been done to death. London, Paris, Sydney, other US cities would be suitable. Personally i would like to see somewhere like singapore or Dubai get reaperfied

I'm opposed because it's a dumb lazy cliche.
There's no way NYC will be the major city of the world (in the way it is now) in 21XX, so having it be in ME3 seems lazy, bad sci-fi thinking, something the ME series has largely escaped.

is the present day center of the universe.
This is precisely why NOT to do this.

I am very excited for the amount of locations ME3 has so far though which suggests if we're doing a completionist playthrough we'll potentially get more hours out of it then ME2 [here's hoping haha]

The reapers can't go to NYC because they would be caught by the glamour and thus unable to reap it.
You mean that New York is UNREAPABLE, even for the REAPERS whose very purpose is to REAP and has REAPED the entirety of REAPABLE SPACE!?
notice that reap is one of those words that tends to loose meaning the more you say them?

And is a star trek 4 reference so I approve as well. Oddly I don't want it in New York or San Francisco the two cities I have lived in the most because I am sick and tired of seeing my landmarks get destroyed. How many times do I need to see the Golden Gate Bridge get wiped out after all?

While I don't mind the idea of seeing New York, I think the reason is because it's in many, many games, and people want something different.
For example Rome.. you can see Italy in the "spotlight" in one of the Wallpapers, right next to Shepard, with 3 Reapers going towards it

1)It's American and done by American .
2)NYC represent the epitome of american society . Capitalist and freedom .
3)Because it's populated .
4)Because everyone have heard about New York City
No one care about Saint-Sauveur QC Canada

No, I got the Humpback Whale reference. Just wasn't very... funny, I think the word is.

because it's a canadian game? i think i've never seen Vancouver in a movie or game
So, since it's a Canadian game, London shouldn't be in it either?
Sorry, but many people may not recognize landmarks of Vancouver or Toronto like they would New York, London, or Paris. Cities will be international.
