Why are people so opposed to seeing New York in ME3?

As a native New Yorker I too would like to see someplace different. Central America is being developed, how about showing it being destroyed. I bet that would ruin those real estate investors day. I'm part tree hugger.
I would like to also see cities we've never seen before, along with the classics.
When was the last time you saw Moscow getting destroyed?
Cairo?
New Delhi?

Heh, an unintenitonal one apparently. Yeah ST4 a Alein Race attacks earth while sending out communication signals, people determine they mimik the exticnt species the Humback Whale calls. They find out that the Humback whale is rather smart and has been in communication with this alien race for millenia and now that they went extinct the race came to investigate. Kirk and crew go back in time to bring some humbacks into the future.
Hillarious hijinks in the city of San Franciosco ensue. This being during the height of the cold war my favorite is when checkov is walking around town and with a thick russian accent is asking actual random people on the street where we keep our nucular vessels. But that may be one of the you have to be old enough to have been there to get it jokes.

Who says NYC has to be destroyed? From what we know, Reapers have only attacked Europe. We could go there for a mission before it's destroyed. Can someone tell me which game lets you navigate/explore the streets of futuristic NYC (a la Los Angeles from Blade Runner) Citadel/Illium style?
The trailer shows San Francisco at the end, and when the German girl is on it says huge explosions in Adelaide, Australia and Fort Worth, UNAS.

1. Bioware is actually a Canadian company (Long Live The Maple Leaf!)
2. It'd make sense to move the focus to someplace that has a bit more grandeur (and present-day Vancouver/Seattle definitely have potential for that). Plus, in the ME world it's the Alliance's headquarters on Earth (iirc; it's not NY, in any case).
3. So is Vancouver/Seattle
4. I Heart NYC, but this relationship is starting to get old tbh.

Personally, I was hoping for Singapore and New Calcutta to be featured in the game. From the timeline, I got the impression Singapore was one of the most important cities on the planet because of the concentration of biotics there (I think there was some kind of accident at "Singapore International Spaceport"). And apparently New Calcutta is one of the wealthiest regions on Earth.
In any case I hope we see Arcturus Station, since that's the capital of the Systems Alliance.
