Personally, I was hoping for Singapore and New Calcutta to be featured in the game.  From the timeline, I got the impression Singapore was one of the most important cities on the planet because of the concentration of biotics there (I think there was some kind of accident at "Singapore International Spaceport").  And apparently New Calcutta is one of the wealthiest regions on Earth.

In any case I hope we see Arcturus Station, since that's the capital of the Systems Alliance.

Sayin' it again... :P

I wouldn't mind seeing Miami, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Moscow, or Shanghai.

lol, seems like most people just don't want it because tis been over done. Hate to say its really the only "big city" that we have. Its just the sheer number of high rises that's why New York gets picked. Sure other cities have them but its not in the same number.

I don't hate the idea, but chances are, its just going to be smoldering rubble because of the Reapers. I don't really care about seeing NYC in video games because I have already seen it a hundred times before.

No offense, but no one is going to come closer to replicating modern NYC than GTA4.

And if NYC is going to be 200+ years in the future, why call it NYC?

New York has to be by far the most overused cities in video games.

Let´s kick some Reaper´s a#$ in the beaches of Rio!!! I´ll be waiting for everyone.

Gigantic waves created by the Reapers, blazing sun, coconut in one hand, riffle in the other. Ah, that´s life in a battle. :)

 Why not? Not that many cities have changed their name over the last two centuries, what makes you think that the next two will suddenly be a massive spait of city name changing, like it's going out of fashion or something?

Anyway, the concern with some people is that New York has been destroyed multiple times in media. It's just so full of delicious, squishy, nougat-filled monuments of world fame. It's like alien crack.

My theory is that it's a city with a lot of skyscrapers, so the destruction is emphasised when they all come crashing down. Cities with less "verticality", to use a recent buzz-word, are obviously flatter, so the effect is somewhat lessened. My response to this would be, what about Dubai? Beijing? Hong Kong? These cities are also tall, and help emphasise the multi-national nature of the Alliance.

Oh well, I guess some developers think we can only sympathise with people whose city is being destroyed if they are whitey. It's called the "Fox News poor-little-white-girl" syndrome.

EDIT: how cool would it be if Buenos Aires was features, or at least mentioned. Little sideways nod to Starship Troopers, there. ;)

OK. So it could be: "Dulce de Leche ice cream in one hand, riffle in the other"... ^_^

New York is loud and dirty. Sick of seeing it in movies don't need to see it in Mass Effect 3.

I, for one, would like to see NYC Mass Effect-ified.

Personally, places like NYC and L.A. have been done to death in games and movies. England, France, Australia, Texas, Arizona, and Illinois would all be welcome additions. However, I still would love to see the destruction of bridges like the Golden Gate in San Francisco just to see how the battlefield changes. Honestly, it doesn't bother me about which major cities are shown, as long as there's believable action.

I`ve had enough of USA in entertainment, it`s nothing special in movies, games etc.

Rio would be cool, with that big statue.
Fighting on/in a very cold country would be fun.
And a place in Europe, like London. Big Ben in 2140(ish)

So, will the Reapers destroy the statue of Jesus?

you may have apoint tho... because if they kill white people its really not that big of a deal. But if you kill an area that has large afircan american/latino. Don't you think the NAACP or other groups would get pissed off and try to sue the company claiming "racist" comments about how they killed virtual people.

the problem is tell me some group wouldn't try it, cause I have seen them do it for less...

NYC is overdone in the media.  So is Los Angeles.

I wouldn't want to see my native Virginia in any fiction, though.  People see a southern state and they automatically stereotype it as everybody having an exaggerated "deep south" accent.

I'm not anti-NYC, but as a location, I've already seen it in Crysis 2 this year, and I hear it's featured in MW3 as well? I just want to see some other city that is not New York atm. Heck, feature my hometown: future Honolulu! :P Actually, I'm rather keen on seeing London in the game, but that may because I'm sort of partial to Doctor Who and Monty Python.

How about Philadelphia? For such a large east coast city, Movies seem to ignore it in favor of New York or D.C. (Although I might be a bit biased)

Well, there's The Philadelphia Story, PHiladelphia (w/Tom Hanks) and The Young Philadelphians! So hey, that's three movies right there - hehe.
