Am I the only person who liked DA 2 more than Origins?

I'm kind of new here (I've been registered, but haven't really posted anything.) but I need to ask this question. Am I the only one? First off let me say, I'm not really a big fan of the RPG style of gameplay that Origins had. And that was the big part that I didn't like about that game. That and the part where you're stuck inside the Fade with no way out. I hated that part, and I'm glad there was nothing in DA2 like that. Other than that, I think DAO was a better made game. I liked the characters, the lore (even though I liked the story in DA2 more because it deals with society and different points of views on numerous things.) all of it better in DAO, but the gameplay bugged me to no end. I like the fast pacedness of DA2 as opposed to the slow crawl of Origins.

People complain that DA2 only has a few enviroments, but they where varied enough to keep me interested. I've beaten DA2 4 times, with a lot of games I haven't finnished yet. And I've only beaten DAO once, and it's hard for me to come back to it. And every time I play DA2 I find numerous new missions that I didn't find the last time I played it. In other words, everything I didin't like in DAO was fixed in DA2. But everything I did like about DAO was broken in DA2.

Really,  the change of gameplay style is the reason I like DA2 better.

You aren't the only person, but most of the other ones get chased off.Posted Image

I perferred DA2 more (still loved DAO just fine) but probably not for the precise reasons you did. I connected with Hawke and his companions more. And loved how they fully interracted with each other and felt like real friends and rivals, rather than a group that just seemed to travel with each other.

Gameplaywise...parts I liked more and other parts I liked less. But never had a problem with DAO's gameplay.

I didn't like much about DA2's endgame, but I can say the same thing about certain post-landsmeet moments of DAO too.

Nope you're not alone. Although comparing the 2 is apples and oranges in many respects.

I liked DAO better, because of Story, Characters, EPIC scenes, Locations, Tactical Combat, Art Style, etc and so on.

There are people who like DA2 better.  Why not?  Some people like Liver and Onions, but I do not.  I don't understand them, and I will not understand people that like DA2.  That's just the way it is and life has to go on.

I agree, going back to da:o now it looks stiff and old already.

Sad about the reusing of areas though, thats my main concern with da2, along with i coudl have more content, like double amount of areas and quests :-)

I love DAO and I like DA2.

LeBurns you don't like Onions.. you are wierd! Onions make the food more tasty.. wierd do you only eat food with salt? I wonder.

Oh and every spice bottle has Onions on them, don't get fool!

DA2 companions are very well done here is what could happen when you have Aveline, Isabela and fenris:

Isabela: So, Donnic was in the Rose.
Aveline: He was not!
Isabela: Easy, big girl. He wasn't shopping for himself. You're lucky to have a man who wants to please you.
Isabela: But, maybe you could indulge him more. Are there areas of intimacy you haven't explored?
Aveline: Why? Why do you give me these doubts!
Isabela: Aveline. If you shove your thumb up his ass, I win.
Fenris: Laugh.

lol!

Love Onions, just don't like 'Liver and Onions' together.  I'm american so 90% of my diet has too much salt in it.

I understand, not liking Liver myself but onions are just.. great :P

hehe!

Any way DA2 could get better if Bioware has the time, and I hope they do get the time for future DA games.

Nah, you aren't alone. I also liked DA2 more overall, despite feeling sometimes as though the game was really trying to get me to loathe it. But then, I'm also partial to liver & onions, so what do I know? :P

There are things about DA2 that I like more than DAO (combat, companion personalities), and things I dislike about DA2 (overly-repeated areas). I think both games had their strong points and weak points.

To me, it would be like having to choose a favorite child. How could you possibly do that? I don't have kids, but if I had to choose between my pets, I would be hard-pressed to do so.

And P.S. I love onions. Liver creeps me out, and it smells like Ferelden.

Heh, I think it's cos I'm old and most of my tastebuds have given up and died. Though whether that accounts for the liver & onions thing or DA2, I'm just not sure =]

Well, buddy, you get a lot of allies around this forum. Nevertheless the number of gamers who like DA2 > DA:O seems to not so much. I myself in the group of DA:O > DA2, but in deed, they are just slightly different :P

There are certianly good parts to take from DA2, no doubt of that. Its just lack of time and polish that lets it down.

You're not the only one to like DA 2 more, but I would be hard-pressed to think that you're not in the minority overall.

For me, the I things that were most improved in DA 2 was combat and graphics (I play these games on PC). When I threw a fireball as a mage, I felt like I bloody well threw a fireball! Being a mage in DA 2 was great, and a much better experience than Origins by a long shot. The thing that stayed the same and remained well done was the music and party banter/voice acting.

Unfortunately that's where the "good" list stops for me with DA 2. I'm not going to belabor the bad points, I think there are enough threads on that. But the amount of play throughs I have on Origins vs. DA 2 really tells the story. The Origins graphics may be dated and the combat slightly clunkier, but it's fun on each play and sometimes I run into something new that somehow I missed even after so many plays. I can't say the same for DA 2. I'm waiting on worthy DLCs for it, because frankly that's the only thing that will get me to replay it anymore.

P.S. Liver and onions are nasty.

You're not alone, but I'd wager that you're in the minority. At least, the vocal minority that hangs around internet forums :P Who knows, perhaps a vast amount of people loved DA2 over DAO and just don't care to talk about it.

Yes, you're the only one. The people who say otherwise are just troll accounts you made years ago for the specific purpose of agreeing with you on this thread.

I'm onto you, troll.

You're not alone but likely in the minority.

The drop in quality in number 2 was a shame as it could have been a truly epic game. I think alot of people are worried about what they will do to number 3 already.

I didn't like it more then DAO but I definately thought it was a good game. Not nearly as bad as what people are saying, if they want an example of what a truly bad game is then look at games like Darkest of Days or Damnation. Those games sucked!

I thought DA2's battle system was more fun (although it really does suffer from the lack of a tactical view), and that's doubly true now that I've started playing DAO again to finish off my last started playthrough. I also liked DA2's characters a bit more, whereas I preferred DAO's increased communicability with your companions compared to, say, clicking Fenris for a dismissive, "We should move on."  May as well tell me to wait a bit because you're in the middle of some calibrations on your lyrium tattoos...

I didn't enjoy DA2's player agency (or lack thereof), emotional impact, or the story more than DAO's, though. The emotional impact was a big factor, actually, since I found myself more emotionally involved in some of DAO's side quests than I was with certain occurrences concerning Hawke's family. The story pacing in DA2 was a lot better, even with the somewhat haphazard third act, and even if I wasn't so enamored with the overarching story as I was with DAO.

I'd put both games on an equal standing, honestly, even though they're quite different from one another.

DA2 was in general a good game and the story was pretty good also not really worse then DAO. What I really think that would make it better is if they either don't reuse the same maps or they actually have more cities available. Also the inventory system was just bad. I really do need to smack Bioware for that one. Other than that it was a good game and really don't see much of the hate for it. Dislike I can understand but some think DA2 raped there puppies.

Well...at least I'm not alone. Another thing that really annoyed me in Origins is that no matter how far from the enemy you moved, if they where locked on you, you still got hit when they attacked. It still did this in DA2 but it wasn't nearly as often. The only time that it happened was that slash attack that the Arishok does when you fight him.
