Well...at least I'm not alone. Another thing that really annoyed me in Origins is that no matter how far from the enemy you moved, if they where locked on you, you still got hit when they attacked. It still did this in DA2 but it wasn't nearly as often. The only time that it happened was that slash attack that the Arishok does when you fight him.
Am I the only person who liked DA 2 more than Origins?

I too enjoy most of DAII more than DAO. But I do love both games and wouldn't want to be without either of them.

Let's see:
Been playing RPGs since the 80ties. Including Larps & P&P.
Finished DAO about 20 times.
Still prefer DAII.
SHOCKING, right?
Yeesh, personal attacks like that are bloody uncalled for!

I thought about posting one but doubt it would fit in a post. Not to mention looking at my laundry lists of do not like would make it look like I hate DA2...
I will say I do believe I'm the only one who didn't care about re-used maps. Oh well.

For future reference, you are never alone in anything, there's always someone who will think the same.
And while I would still personally rank DAO a bit ahead of DA2, I sure did love DA2 a lot.

That would put me in the "bought" category.
But I'll do one and put it in the Review thread. (The one where you may post spoilers)

DAO was fantastic at what it wanted to be. DA2 is just OK at being somewhere inbetween DAO and a flat-out action game.
Sure, some people prefer action games to DAO's combat, and so would prefer DA2's combat, but why not just go play an action game instead?

i can't really compare them, though, they're not even in the same genre; one is a high fantasy, and one is a low fantasy. guess which i vastly prefer in a narrative.

I must admit, it's been hard for me to play DA:O lately. I love the story, and think it's for the most part astounding (though there are a few things that could've made it better, but by no means are they things that because of their absence detract from the quality of the game).
But the combat, the Fade, the design of the elves and Qunari in Origins save for Sten, and lack of a voiced protagonist really makes it hard to get back into the game again.
That said, DA2 is easier to replay for me because of a voiced protagonist, the combat, and most importantly Varric and Merrill. But I do find the the story to be..... not what it could've been. It also doesn't help that one character I immediately respected upon meeting him was killed eventually for poor storytelling reasons on one side of the spectrum.
But I understand that people have varying opinions, and I usually try not to turn into a jerk and say "You like this piece of crap?!". Because I'm mature (sad really that a 19 year old is more mature then some of the other people on here) and because I do like DA2 for its merits so I would be a hypocrite I think for saying I didn't like it. People like different things. Are they wrong? No not really, unless they like something along the lines of murdering people for fun. Then they're wrong. But for a game? Nope.
People are not simple --- Sten
And hopefully whenever I finish my Warden fanfic I can start on my Hawke fanfic about his real Rise to Power. Also, I'm looking forward to Legacy. It does seem like it will be amazing.

Not to mention the other things that Bio does really well, such as party-based gameplay, pause & play combat, characters, storytelling - as well as already being invested in the Dragon Age world through Origins and possibly the novels. As much as I like Batman, playing Arkham Asylum doesn't really do much for a Dragon Age craving ...
One thing I really don't miss about Origins is the combat slow-dance, that's for sure. I do miss that sense of vastness and exploration which Origins had more of, though still not as much as I would have liked.

I guess ME or ME2 should be better than our belove DA & DA2 if we want to experience some "action". DA + DA2 is different from ME+ME2 about the story, the settings, and also the combat. We want to experience the different kind of combats with more elements of teamwork than shooting all the time.

Origins had major flaws. It had some neat concepts that didn't live up to their full potential. DA2 had more neat concepts that could have stood more development. I hope that for DA3 they settle on a concept and polish it, but I can understand why they made some of the changes they did.

You're telling me Varric is a "shallow" character compared to, say, OGHREN?!
If you want to do a one-to-one comparison, here's what I'd say:
Aveline > Wynne
Leliana = Merril
Isabela > Zevran
Varric > Oghren
Sten > Fenris
Morrigan > Anders
Shale > Sebastian
Alistair > Bethany/Carver, but this is largely because Bethany and Carver are temp characters.
Dog = Dog
Comes out about even.
Arishok > Loghain (Yes, even with Simon Templeman's voice.)
Seamus > Cailan (Poor kid.)
Petrice > Bhelen (Bhelen made me roll my eyes. Petrice made me want to scratch her eyes out.)
Keeper Marithari > Zathrien (Although the Lady is far cooler than anything Marithari was involved in, so this one's probably a wash.)
Greagoir > Meredith
Irving > Orsino (if you play a mage, if not, Orsino probably beats Irving apart from the collosal stupidity at the end)
Duncan > um, geez, who fills a plot role similar to Duncan, oh, wait, FLEMETH. Or maybe (urrrgh) BARTRAND.
The main problem is that we got the sub-par major NPC's at the BEGINNING and the END and the REALLY SWEET ones in the MIDDLE, whereas in Origins there were a couple good ones at the beginning, a *ton* of forgettable pointless ones in the middle, then several good ones again at the end.
