How is that any diffrent then the "perfect" DAO?

As long as it's not another 'insane idiot antagonist who is crazy for no reason,' I have no problem with it. I'm hoping this DLC will allow Hawke to be proactive and permit him to use his wits.

Hawke? Wits? In the same sentence? Man, Kirkwall killed whatever wits Hawke had from his time in Ferelden.

I'm sure he meant "use his swords."

I know Kirkwall killed wits left and right, but I'd really like to see an intelligent and proactive Hawke who is allowed to use his wits to solve some problems, rather than being the Terminator of Thedas.

Hopefully they look menacing and don't move like monkeys or gorillas.

But I shouldn't talk about gorillas because that makes me really want to have a gorilla companion in a Dragon Age game and equip him with Silverite Chainmail. Seriously, imagine this:

Image IPB

on this....

Image IPB

and tell me you don't want it to happen. Because I really do. I really do want a gorilla as a companion. He could be a berserker and he and Oghren could grunt at each other!

Oh I'm a Hawke fan too. I did enjoy DA2, but I just felt the story could've been so much better and that some of the side quests should've affected Hawke's Rise to Power. I would never stoop to the level of "DA2 sucks and anyone who likes it is an idiot!"

I like it for what it is, but wish that the potential it had pre-release was there on release.

I would too, but sadly that probably won't change too much for people because he'll only be proactive once in his time in Kirkwall.

Certain things Hawke did are proactive in the game, like siding with the Mages or Templars, but those moments of proactiveness are offset by Orsino going Harvestino for no reason to a pro-mage Hawke.

Clearly, Hawke will be doing some killing, given the Achievements for defeating the darkspawn, but I'd like to see Hawke given the opportunity to use his wits to solve some problems. I'd like to see the player given more agency over Hawke's reasons for doing things, I'd like to see some flexibility in the narrative where Hawke is presented with some meaningful choices to make. Being a brutal Champion of Kirkwall who can slaughter his way through every problem and hardly ever has to use his mind doesn't interest me as much as an intelligent and capable Hawke who can solve a dilemma with his wits as effectively as he can defeat his foes on the battlefield.

Crazy yes. But it's awesome Image IPB.

And it needs to happen. If Bioware made it a DLC for DA3 I'd buy it. I'd probably be the only one who would buy it (which means it wouldn't be worth making for them), but I'd buy it nevertheless.

Just joking.

Although I suspect there won't be much of that kind of thing in this DLC. It looks a fair bit like a dungeon crawl going on those achievements alone, albeit a story-driven and hopefully high quality one, I'm just not sure there'll be the kind of complex, choice-driven narrative you're after. We'll see.

If Hawke can make a proactive decision like the Warden could do in Warden's Keep with Avernus, it'll be worth it.

Upon further consideration of the monkey companion...

Sten + Monkey =
Image IPB

Right? That's called precedent to me. I mean he's effectively a gorilla.

(So far off-topic it's shameful, sorry thread)

I lol'd heartily.

But you don't combine Sten with the gorilla, you combine the silverite chainmail Sten's wearing with the gorilla. Image IPBImage IPB

Eh...unless they've adjusted the look of the darkspawn, I'd imagine they might look similar to how the genlocks look in the facebook game..like gorillas with spikey hats:

I think that picture speaks more truth about the state of BioWare now than any public relations speech we've seen so far.

Which is curious given that BioWare have barely anything to do with the actual development of Legends.

Not to mention I've seen plenty of people on both sides of the 'divide' who don't mind the games artstyle, given it's a flash game and all. The Facebook version has gotten some criticism (because, it's a Facebook game) but the earlier game using a similar style by the same team and the spin off side scroller both seemed quite popular.

Unless your point was that the state of BioWare is that it has grown influential enough for what some (sadly) seem to consider the secondary of their two current IPs to be getting spin off games, proven new media marketing techniques and resources, tv/web series, comics etc.

Here's to hoping for a continuation of the Velanna and Seranni storyline, perhaps with a little bit of Architect/Messenger if you let them live.

Edit: Although then it would indead seem that all roads lead to Kirkwall...

I thought Gunderic was talking about how Bioware seems to shoot themselves in the foot, especially with the latest comment made by devs where they said that some fans didn't like Dragon Age 2 because of its "innovations."

Will we see Oghren? Im curious,

The ending of DA 2 makes room for SO MUCH DLC so much more possibilities.
DA 3. 4. 5. 6.? I hope theyll be coming!

For now i hope we can still visit every place in kirkwall an free marches, andhave some new locations in the DLC.

Atleast a city where we can shop, explore etc....

And the wardens should give answers to Hawke about what they doing what they want, and wtf is going on with the warden :P

I loved justice more than those 2 :P now hes in Anders, ( curious where he went in? Anus? mouth? :P ) kiddin.
Oghren would be nice to see again, a loyal Warden companion!
The one i hated in DA O whas Zevran, never connected with him
Same in DA 2 for Aveline, she just doesnt interest me that Redhead Shemale.

Anders I like,
Fenris, I like to **** him up :P
Behtany and Carver! LOVE THEM!
Merril Shes cute and lil bit naieve.
Sebastion nahhh to much religion fanatic
Issabella, hmmm dont know....Shes hot, nice ass ******.
Dog, Yarrrrrrrr says enough nice option!
Varric (L)! him no complaints, he feels real! Nice to talk to.

My Hawke 2 handed sword warrior With Fenris AND
Merril and Bethany! = Killing Force

say like hhh Arnold Chuck Norris, Rambo, And Steven Seagal.

I can't shake the feeling that I recognize the guy in the conductor achievement icon from somewhere in DA2... It's really bugging me. Don't suppose anyone else sees it?

"Gorilla dwarf asian man"? Don't you recognize a former Bioware companion when you see one? Unfortunately, I don't think there's a precedent for armoured gorillas in Bioware games, hairy gorilla-sten was the best I could do.

Seems like sequel material rather than DLC, expansion at very least.

Has there been any news as to why the achievements have appeared without any announcement like for example someones been lazy on the job etc..

Also I have noticed not everyone has the new achievements on their gamers list.

Eh this happens all the time. Achivements are often put up (too?) early. They have already announced the new DLC (Legacy) and it's set for a big reveal at SDCC I believe, this is just a common case of buttons being pressed too soon or needing to be pressed early etc.
