Scott Mitchell, Lead Animator for Mass Effect3, reveals details and a behind the scenes look at the new Cerberus Atlas mech that you will have to face in Mass Effect 3. While they are among the stronger enemies you will face, if you are skilled, you may be able to "remove" the driver and take over the Atlas for yourself.

Watch Episode 7 of BioWare TV and keep your fingers on the Pulse.

I was wondering how that would work. I get to find out now. xD

EDIT: Never got to see him really pilot it. Sad.

I REALLY hope they heavily rework the walking animations... the YMIR mech moved much more realistically than the Atlas, which basically rotates in mid-air and has poorly-articulated legs. Just my opinion though, I'm sure it will be improved...

Shep looks nice as a pilot inside Atlas. Can't wait to get into that thing and wipe out anything on my path.

Looks pretty sick.

I'll agree with LGTX, though; the animations aren't quite as fluid yet as the YMIR's were. Still, 8 1/2 months is plenty of time to get everything working smoothly. It looks pretty damn awesome already. :D

Did Casey say in a Geth Vehicle shooting the Reaper? Interesting...

The Atlas Mech sounds interesting for the series to. Im getting the impression it will play a lot like the Mech you pilot in fear2 and im guessing it will have that same feel of power. Makes a change to the combat environments which is always interesting and generally a lot of fun.

While this mix up in combat and vehicle usage is welcomed I hope it hasn't paved the way for the removal of our planetary craft. I would much prefer to see the return of our old vehicles (Mako/Hammerhead) then have them removed completely because of these new vehicle features.

Quite the shame we didn't saw it how it works with Shepard's hands.

Great episode, I like seeing the behind the scene development. Also nice choice in music when showing off the Atlas, it got me in the mood to play some ME2 lol. :)

Keep your finger on the pulse...

Maybe it's just me, but that sounds kinda cheesy.

Anyway, the Atlas looks interesting.

Nice! Very cool to see how animators do their thang. The atlas has a nice mix of lumber and limber. Should be nuts seeing those running around. Nice peak at Shepard in the driver's seat too.

I need to know... does Silverman practice the fingertip pyramid thing? Will this animation make it into ME3?

It's like BioWare is taking something from every one of my favorite Sci-Fi franchise and blending them together.

Here's hoping they're like the real Atlas Mech. Preferably with PPCs- the scream and impact of a PPC shot is the only thing that sounds better than a Widow headshot under time dilation.

Pretty good episode. It was nice seeing the animation work, both as a gamer and as a game dev in-training
