Whaaaatt? But we are already on the road to federalisation with the EU. Seeming as some of the achievments of space travel are attributed to the EU, not a country within the EU, I thought perhaps it has become a true country in the ME universe.

The EU as a country would be an economic powerhouse. 

I think it may happen like in this game.

They unify for stability.

The UK didn't join it though. It joined Ireland to become the New Commonwealth.

Considering some of the extreme economic issues some of the memberstates are having right now, I can't see how you can make such a bold claim.

I don't see it as being any more likely than unlikely to happen, tbh.

The UK isn't part of the European Federation in that game. I know we **** and moan about the EU in the UK, but I can't imagine we would ever leave it. Our economy is completely intertwined with the mainland. Not to mention that our army is on the first steps to becoming intertwined with France's given recent pact's.

Just gotta wait till the game comes out then, I guess  

Somehow I never can help but think of random jokes being hurled all around between "colleageues" when french and british soldiers are together. Given the rich story they got together...

Commander Shepard is a Canadian (Both voice actor; Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, are Canadian. They both speak with a Canadian accent.

A Canadian voice actor doesn't necessarily mean the character is Canadian.

In fact in two of the origins Shep is not even from the Earth. In one he was born in a colony world, and in the other he was either born on a space station or on a ship. The colonist and spacer Sheps may not even have had parents who were the same nationality.

That, and many American people in certain Canadian border regions sound just like Mark Meer or Jennifer Hale.

In short, Shep's nationality/background is vaguely North-American but I think the individual player decides where he or she is from. Hell, you can even make him a Londoner if you wish. Captain Anderson is from London but doesn't have a British accent.

The entire middle east right now is too unstable to predict. By the time of ME, the entire region could be unified, they could remain fragmented, they may have been glassed by nuclear fire, or they may have collapsed economically due to loss of demand for petroleum and reverted back to the iron age (or progressed to, depending on the country). It is extremely difficult to make any reasonable guess how that region will turn out in 150+ years.

I doubt the individual nations can do much. Earth is separate from the Alliance. (Or to be more precise, The alliance rules over all of humanity including Earth when it comes to space governance.)

I am sure the nations have their own armies, but I doubt they have anything that can effectively fight reapers.
