Due to the recent hacking of our legacy NWN servers we have disabled the NWN master server which manages game authentication. We are currently retooling our NWN authentication process and will have a new server up as soon as possible.
We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements to our systems.

Question...why do I receive an email regarding a NWN account that doesn't exist? I'm a bit confused because a) I don't even own NWN and
I changed my EA account password recently anyway because of all the hacking. So...yeah, I'm confused.

Does this mean that everyone is able to login no matter what, or that nobody is able to login no matter what.
IE, how would this affect Multiplayer?

Multiplayer works fine. I created a new account and logged in to someone's test server yesterday.Joshua Hawkeye wrote...

Ok, my friends dont feel safety to play anymore because at any moment their items/gold or chars can just be hijacked by anyone, bioware just abandoned legacy nwn, sad like abandon your dog after 9 years for its too old and tired to play with you...

Well hopefully this will be back soon, I bought it on steam last week with the main purpose of playing co-op with my friend without knowing multiplayer was down.

Again...multiplayer isn't down, kamal said that already. The problem is that the server can't check the authorization of your username, so that step is skipped. Everything else works fine.

So can anyone employed in an official capacity please confirm when the multiplayer authentication servers will be back up again?
I've received no email from Bioware, Obsidian, or D2D, to change my NWN2 login. My old login definitely does not work. But the error doesn't suggest I'm passing a bad password. I wouldn't even know where to go to change it since those links have all been moved too.
Also, rotten timing on Bioware's part for moving the NWN2 forums. I've been surfing cached Google results for weeks now.

Right now I don't care if the server is up and down, I just want to skip the authorization process. The authorization cannot be checked, but we still have to wait while as if it worked.
I don't know if I'm explaining myself well, but it's very annoying. Until (if) everything's solved, the authorization process should be skipped entirely.

Yes, it would be nice to be able to skip the Bioware network login authorization for both NWN1 and NWN2, they are a hassle of waiting a full two minutes until it fails. Makes getting back into the game after a disconnect or something really tedious, go get a cup of coffee while waiting for the Bioware login to fail so you can go to the next step. Since I direct connect to both my NWN1 and NWN2 PWs, I don't really need to enter the Bioware network.
If we don't soon get the actual network back for this verification step, I'll look forward to some clever scripter writing a batch file to skip this.
And as for Bioware deleting/moving their forums, I can't tell you how many hundreds of how-tos and helpful informations that I try to search and connect to are simply gone. There are a million links on the net that went to helpful stuff in the forums that are now defunct and useless, and the valuable information that they contained are not longer accessible. What a shame.

Any word on a percentage of completion would be welcome.

Would be, but I wouldn't count much on that.
Ramana, you still need to be "authorized", even if direct connecting.

One month has passed, and no word from any officials.
Can we at least be given an estimate of how long you think it's going to take before it's all up and running again?
I recently did a fresh install of my Neverwinter Nights 2 + expansions, and sure enough, I can get into the server browser and all, but because it's a fresh install, it hasn't had a chance to verify my CD-keys online, it seems, and refuses to let me join normal servers because of that.
Which is a shame!.. Seeing as I installed it because I wanted to play multiplayer again.

We always were in the same boat. I imagine if we find they are not putting it up we'll have to re-engineer authentication.

I was going to suggest going to the old bioware archived legacy forums and give that a shot, but I cannot get there from here. I have the old links and believe me when I say old (from 2004) and they all redirect to bioware.com, which has a splash page of ME3 and a link to "Communities" but not to any of the old NWN or NWN2 forums -- even as archived. So I must apologize and shake my head.
As a best method consolation, though, I have PMd Aaryn Flynn and asked if we could get an update on this issue. It also seems this ties into the archived legacy forums and we were also assured that they would be available into the foreseeable future. It's only been a year since the switch, I can foresee a lot further than that.
