If you want to skip the super-delay of waiting for the authorization server to tell you it's down, there's an easy fix for that.
Open up C:\\Windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc
Open up "hosts" (not "hosts.msn" or anything else) in Notepad
Add the following lines to the bottom of the page:
0.0.0.0 nw2master.bioware.com
0.0.0.0 nwn2.master.gamespy.com
The box will still show up for authorization, but it will immediately mark the connection as a failure, allowing you to continue; authorization is NOT required to play online, so this does not hamper anything. It may be a good idea to back up your "hosts" file with a copy for when the authorization servers DO come back online, if ever.

We are looking into what it's going to take to get things going again.
By the way, this also includes the old legacy forums and CD Key storage of the old Bioware Forums, so this is really more important than just getting the authentication server up and running.
I will let you know more when I know more -- that is, if Chris Priestly doesn't sucker punch me and post first.

Hi Arkalezth,
Thank you so much for this ... this delay (even when it works) is so hampering when testing multiplayer code.
I will do this immediatly!
Many thanks for tehheads up.
Lance.

A. Host file edits to sabotage it, setting the ip to 0.0.0.0 removes the delay. Look up instructions on how to edit the hosts files in windows.
B. Never launcher has a button that automates the hosts file edit.
C. The latest client extension by skywing changes the client so it never delays more than one second, thus sidestepping the issue.
Still it would be nice to actually be authenticated. Some other games actually set up their own authentication servers.

I have my install disks still but not the instruction booklet which had my cd key attached. I never thought it was an issue because it was stored online under my Bioware account and I could get it any time that way.
That seems to no longer be the case.
Is there some way of getting my CD key back from Bioware, or is it gone for good?

Yep same. Had my key stored under Bioware account and now can't find the manual. Have the install CD. Are these really as poor at customer support as they appear?

It's gone. You can buy a new copy of the game from Good Old Games (gog.com) for less than $10. Remember to request a multiplayer key if you intend to play multiplayer.Gray the Grayte wrote...
