ME2: nope.
ME1: Yep, I can't stand Ashley so she had to die on Virmire.

No.

I don't hate anyone on my crew that much.

I couldn't choose who I wanted to have on my team initially. At least I was able to towards the middle of the game. Didn't like Miranda. Too much sex appeal and not enough substance. Too much woe is me because I'm so made to be perfect. Reminds of the protagonist in the Twilight series that I couldn't help but feel like I should put her out of her misery. Her slogan being: I'm so useless, but I have to help despite the fact that I force everyone to put their lives at risk for me...every damn time." Plot armor didn't work for ya at the end did it? :D

Jacob, the only other black person in the ME series apart from my Shepard and Anderson...you know you done wrong. Goodbye.

I would have let the Cerberus crew go too if it weren't for Chakwas and Kelly. Although, I really find Chakwas' reasons for joining Cerberus to be ridiculous in how she stated them.

I did every mission because I had to in order to reach max level, and I made every paragon decision possible because I had to in order to continue making paragon decisions.

I get teary eyed any time one of the team dies.

Even Miranda?

Yes, even Miranda.  She cared about her sister.  I never had a sister.:(   I tear up.

My sarcasm detector is twitching...

No, I don't think it's sarcasm. It's probably leftover sarcasm from the other posts. I don't think it's silly to actually care about the characters in the game. Most of them are very well done. It just gets dumb when people start accusing others of being [whatever] for killing off squadmates.

Yeah, my sarcasm detector could be damaged. Bad leadership on my part... I'm pathetic.. sorry, sorry, what was I say? Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't think it's silly to care about characters either. It was the "I never had a sister" bit that caused a twitch.

But yeah, even Miranda is human.
A human **** who DESERVES TO DIE. Of course, I always do everything in my power to ensure that she lives. Everything. Always.

It's just slightly damaged, the twitch was not undeserved.  :)  Miranda isn't my 1st choice in a friendly lunch and shopping excursion, but I don't hate her so there might not have been a tear, just a remote feeling of oh that's too bad.

Oh yeah, I forgot about ME1.
But although I wasn't very fond of Kaiden, I wasn't out to actively kill him.
It was simple logistics, I needed a hardline soldier to partner with Wrex, so Ashley got to live.
I needed her more then Kaiden, so I made sure to keep her alive.

As for James Vega, well, that depends on one factor that hasn't been addressed yet (as far as I know).
I will always insist on having a Krogan on my team, it's my Mass Effect tradition.
And if there isn't a permanent Krogan Soldier (I'm hoping for Grunt!) squadmate available at some point (preferably as soon as possible!), I'm going to resent James Vega for taking over the role that the Krogan would have been playing.
And that's when I replace him with the next squadmate I can recruit (it'll most likely be an Ashley and Garrus game if I have no Krogan), sending him to sit on the bench for the whole of the game.

So, it's a case of:
no Krogan, resent Vega's presence.
Krogan, happy he's along for the ride.

I'm also concerned about the fact he's designed to be an "exposition machine", to familiarize new players to the world of ME3 with the events of the past two games.
If he keeps on summing up everything I did in the last two games without saying anything I didn't already know, I'm going to stop going to see him.
And then I'm going to have Ashley gag him so he can't talk ever again!

As for the fish, Kelly is still alive and feeding them for me, so they didn't die!
And the first thing I do whenever I'm on the Normandy SR2 is push the "feed the fish" button.

Heck no. Saved them all. With the way Mass Effect keeps changing, at least keeping the characters alive gives me some since of continuity between the games.

I have two serious careers. One where everyone lived, and then one where Miranda, Jacob and the crew all died because that Shepard is a cold and calculating type that wanted to cripple Cerberus.

People who do that are bad and should feel bad.

What the hell kind of commander would kill his own subordinates because he dislikes them? Who do you think you are, a Power Rangers villain?

??? you do know this is just a video game right?  My actions in a video game do not reflect my personality in real life.  I play a lot of GTA IV and I got out of my way to run over people... Does not mean in any way shape and form that I want to do that in real life.

As for the question I don't actively kill anyone but the Virmire survivor survives because i flip a coin mostly because I just cannot bring myself to care about Ashley or Kaiden.

HOW DARE YOU PLAY MASS EFFECT THE WAY YOU WANT!!1 EVERYONE IS SUPPOSE TO LIVE SO YOU CAN HAVE AN UNWANTED CAMEO IN THE NEXT GAME!!!!!11!!!!1!

/sarcasm

Don't forget, it's pathetic when you play the game the way you want to play it. <_< Nevermind if you genuinely don't want the content. Just wait until the "omgz i r psych major, i r analyze u!" kiddies roll in.

Oh I so wanted to say something about this.  guy says "no offense but your pathetic for playing your way"  No offense yourself but anyone who calls anyone pathetic for not playing A VIDEO GAME your way is pathetic!
Its crazy just how many people are so caught up in a VIDEO GAME that they think the way someone is playing makes them a bad person or something.

I purposely killed off Miranda at the final stand cuz FemShep hates her guts. Also Jack and Thane ate it when attacking the Collector ship since Thane's going to kick the bucket anyways and Jack needs to put a shirt on. Also Jacob was carried away by seekers because he's so lame.

The opposite. I detest Miranda but she is still alive as I'm not a murderer unless you try to kill me first.

In my 7 playthroughs I eventually got really sick of Jack, so I killed her... a few times. Her loyalty mission made me want to puke every time. I think everyone lived for 3-4 of my playthroughs.

Also, if you do her loyalty mission, is there any way to kill Miranda and survive yourself? You can't put her in the vents, if you make her the shield, someone else gets taken, and as either fire team leader she prevails. The only way I can think of killing her is going no loyalty into final boss fight.

I'm all for people being allowed to game the system to kill a bunch of squad members, but shouldn't that also reflect on Shep? By now we all know that the choices of how to use squad members was sort of obvious tech experts do this, biotics do that, leaders lead.

If a person managed to screw up all those fairly obvious choices, perhaps that Shep save should get a demotion or some other punishment that reflect that his superiors realize that every single personel decision he made under pressure was wrong.

I kill of Jack because being forced to recruit her in the first place was OOC for my Shepard.

Other than her everyone survives.

I enjoyed killing Morinth.

She's still *technically* a squadmate.

There's a much funner way to kill Morinth (No, not Death-By-Samara)...

I was hard-pressed to let any characters die because I wanted to see them in ME3, but my pure renegade playthrough, I let Tali die. Seriously, I hate that quarian.

I wish I could have dumped Miranda, but I didn't want to lose my other crewmates. I just find her so annoying..

Just pick Jack over her during the fight and then take her to the HR battle. She'll die and you don't have to lose anyone else.

Kill anyone because I hate them?

Nah, personally I like/love all the characters..

Kill them to see the variables in ME3 and for potential RP reasons?

OH HELL YEAH!

16 playthroughs with only 2 having a full complement of squaddies going into ME3.

Pretty much most of the other ones I've had RP reasons why one or more (depending on the playthrough) of the squad ended up dead.

Well...

Apart from the playthrough where I only got an unloyal Zaeed and Kasumi as surviving squadmates. That purely was done for the variable of an attempted 'most frelled up' import. But again that wasn't because I hate the characters.

Edit: @Kileyan Actually one of my Shepard's DOES think she isn't cut out for doing the task. Despite being pro-Alien she is doing a fine job of messing things up and has a all humans survive-only squad going into ME3 and she really felt bad about the mess of a Suicide Mission she scraped through. Specially as she lost her new love Garrus (that was one of the reasons things fell apart as she sent him into the vents thinking he could do it).

Of course! We need variety you know. One of my more interesting playthroughs has only Shepard, Zaeed, and Garrus surviving.

I did hate a lot of characters but I did not let them die just because of that. Too bad you can't just kick them out of the party like in Dragon Age: Origins. I wish I could and I hope they will allow us in Mass Effect 3. In the end beside Liara I only liked Garrus lol, other m8s looked immature or/and stupid to me.

I liked Ash before she shot Wrex in the back of the head.  Otherwise leaving Carth Onasi to die would have been my choice.  Every other time Ashe lived, figured she had a family that needed her alive.
