I do have high expectations of Bioware! Why should I not? All in all, I can only point to a few things about ME2 that I really did not enjoy - that is to say, out of everything in the game only a handful of things annoyed me.

Aside from a retarded human reaper and terminator knockoff, aside from endless planetary scanning (I have almost 50 full playthroughs saved) I have little to complain about. I think that given the scope of the game, the level of detail that Bioware provided - all in all my complaints are minimal. They have provided a quality product - and I expect that ME3 will be just as good of a product.

Given the quality of their ME series products, I can lend them some faith that ME3 will be a lot of fun.

While DA2 was a weaker product than I expected or wanted, I think the hate against it is grossly exaggerated - some people treat it like the worst RPG ever. It's probably the worst that Bioware has made to date, but speaking objectively, there are many - many - worse RPGs out there. It's mediocre, but I had a decent time with it.

Even if it was as bad as some people like to pretend, I think it's incredibly silly and premature to start sounding the warning bells and declaring Bioware a dub company. Even if you ignore the fact that DA2 and ME3 are being made by different teams - and boy, do certain people love ignoring that fact - one flop from a company doesn't mean that future products are going to be devoid of quality. You'll be hard pressed to find a gaming company that's been around for a while and never delivered a game that wasn't below their usual standards. Missteps happen. Things go wrong. It's no reason to completely drop things. It's like with sports - any fan that abandons their team just because they lose a game or two isn't really a fan.

Actually, scratch that - they are a fan, but the worst kind. Fairweather fans.

So, yeah, I have faith in Bioware. If I didn't think ME3 was going to be good, I certainly wouldn't come here to endlessly moan about it. Like some people..

Well Littlezack, some of those Fairweather fans also like being the source of discordance..... they actually ENJOY harping on things and being negative.... oddly, some people feed on negativity and it makes them fell better.

*shrug* I dont get it either. but whatever helps them sleep at night, I dont let it effect me in the least. Because it doesnt stop my enjoyment of something.

Zeel is right ME3 will be ****, Bioware don't want to hear any suggestions and we're all a bunch of ****s. This thread has truly opened my eyes.

ITT: People who can't accept the truth.

OP hit the nail on the head, I don't know what else to say. You guys call people trolls for disagreeing with the popular opinion on these forums, it's cancerous to say the least.

Well, I think it depends on the kind of expectations we're talking here, honestly. Do I expect them to hit EVERY SINGLE THING from the first two games and tie EVERY SINGLE LOOSE END up? No, that's unreasonable. Do I expect them to deliver a quality game that satisfactorily concludes the trilogy I've put so many hours in to? Absolutely.

Sidebar: Not flame baiting here, but I've been AWOL from the ME community more or less since ME2 actually came out. What has Bioware done to drive so many fans into this cynical attitude? Is it just general unhappiness with ME2 or what?

Dragon Age II and its departure from Origins' gameplay and story seems to be the culprit here.  Why take a nearly perfect game and then change everything for the sequel?  Like I said though, at least Shepard is still the main character.

I see. Glad I missed that whole debacle then. I never was a Dragon Age fan, so I didn't play the second one. Some of these statements I've read make a little more sense, now. Not sure I agree with them, but I get it. Thanks for the info!

Okay, now let's be fair here - I could use a lot of words to describe DA:O, but 'nearly perfect' wouldn't be one of them. It had its fair share of problems.

Agreed with littlezack.

And by the bolded, I hope you're not implying that the Warden should have remained the main character?

Meh, you can't really compare Mass Effect to Dragon Age. Both games were made by Bioware, true, but different internal departents worked on them. Declining quality in DA isn't going to transfer over to ME.

As to Mass Effect 3, I have high hopes for it. Looks like they're going for a story structure similar to ME1, with Me2's gameplay. I ain't gonna complain about that, no siree. ME3 is going to be amazing.

yes, this is all a big elaborate troll involving real points and logical thinking. Thanks, take your replies elsewhere if you consider this a troll. I know "serious discussions" are uncommon here. I guess I should make this a BIOWARE SUPPORT THREAD. maybe then I wouldn't be considered a troll.

Good grief.

Whose the one trolling now?  The Op brings up a good point.  but because he may have trolled in the past anything he says is null?  Give me a break your more of a troll than he is.

Awakening felt more like a sequel than DA II.  The most fun part of the first game was, in fact, the origin stories.

Funny, considering the majority of your posts are usually trolling in a Tali thread.

Not one of my posts have been in a Tali thread. I stay away from threads that I don't like. hint, hint.

Man, imagine if theres' a chance both GARRUS and TALI can die?

hubba-hubba, I think I'm in love.

King Zeel wrote...

The fact that Tali not permanent means her involvement in the game is minimal.

And all I have to say to that is: Suck it fanboys, ME3 is shaping up quite nicely.

Romances are new? I distinctly remember sticking it to Aerie, who is pretty much a D&D version of Tali.

Ugh. I'm so tired of these statements. THIS CHARACTER IS LIKE SO AND SO AND SO AND SO AND SO AND SO.

Look whose talking.. I find it funny that all these quotes you pulled from him was not a Tali thread.
The guy is brutally honest about his opinion and being attacked for it.
"OMG HE HAS A DIFFERENT OPINION ON THE GAME THAN ME!!! HE IS SO OBVIOUSLY A TROLL"
that is what I'm seeing here.

Why worry about what anyone else's expectations are for the game. They are entirely internal. Voicing of the opinion has no effect unless you choose to let it bother you.

That's all well and good, but what does this have to do with the Warden starring in DA2? The sheer number of choices/combinations makes the idea utterly impossible to implement.

The Warden's story was finished. There are a million different potential plot points DA2 could explore, and the Warden need not be utilized for any of them.

I don't just have high expectations for Bioware, I have unrealistic expectations for Bioware.

Ever since Jade Empire, I have been waiting for Bioware to reach their previous levels of excellence. KOTOR and JE were the best stories Bioware has told IMO, I am waiting for them to exceed that precedent.

And yet you act as if the entire romance mechanic is something new or below BioWare's "standard".

Jaheira was in BG1, and I'm willing to bet a little fanservice was involved to get her romancable in BG2. Does that shatter your misguided worldview?

Jaheira, Viconia and Aerie were all excellent written romances without the corny sex scene and more about plot development. They don't compare to the romance crap we have now.

Zeel's basic thought process "OMG BIOWARE HAS MADE ADJUSTMENTS OVER THE YEARS!! ALL GAMING ROMANCES SINCE BG2 SUCK, AND ALIEUNZ IZ BAD!!!"

Still trolls like you are rather amusing. So keep on trucking Zeel.

I'm assuming you haven't played or finished BG2?

If you did, you would be singing a different tune.

I have played it and finished it.
It was okay.

No you haven't. Leave my topic.

Ok you are an obvious troll.. yeah anyone who doesn't think Baldures Gate isn't gods gift to gaming obviously never played it.  I feel stupid for defending you.
