I'm gonna be pissed if the only people I can use consistently are Liara, VS, and the new guys.

I think that not having companions/old friends/ME2 dirty dozen confined to Normandy/Shepard is intriguing. A lot had their own story arc going, and have some kind of connection to the universe at large other than being Shepard's team.

I think some would make a more meaningful impact on the trilogy resolution as characters in their own right/on their own mission/path that at times crosses with Shepard's instead of being 'just' that guy/girl/alien who went everywhere with the Commander.

A concentrated/communicated effort carried by multiple protagonists towards whatever ME3's agenda could be interesting if done right.

I seriously doubt that there are no permanent squad-members.
Especially since an alternative appearance pack for the VS,Liara and Vega has already been announced. And such a DLC is even more pointless if the characters are leaving half way through the game.

That better not mean we're stuck with Ashley/Kaidan and Liara the entire game. *grumbles*

I am pretty sure that the core team of VS, Vega, Liara, unannounced soldier/engineer (depending on Vega´s actual class) and maybe one or two more will be permanent and then some others can join you for specific missions. Like maybe Tali when you try to throw the reapers of the Quarian homeworld and try to settle the Quarian/Geth conflict.

Indoctrinated squadmates is just lol-worthy. come on now, how many behavior-180s are gonna get justified by "indoctrination"?

As long as I get lots of dialogue and a proper romantic conclusion with a certain Quarian, I'll be...satisfied.

Still hoping we get them for the majority of the game, though.

Alternative appearance pack for Ash/Kaidan was confirmed?

It had better be more than one mission.

"Tali will be able to join your team" doesn't sound like one mission.

I still think it's more than one mission and less than all of them.

Yep. It's in the collector edition features:

Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack – New appearances for squad members Ashley, Kaiden, James and Liara.

I'm thinking those will always be on the Normandy while the rest will join for various segments of the game now. But this doesn't really makes much sense in Liara's case. Shouldn't Shadow Broker have more important things to do than dog Shepard's every step all the time, considering that the characters who hold much less influence over the galaxy won't be doing that?

(Not bashing Liara! I like her just fine. Just voicing my puzzlement).

Then again. Availability of alternate outfits doesn't nesseseraly guarantee 'permanent' status :P.

Thanks Rheia! Where was this detailed list posted? I'm was looking at the description of the CE edition at masseffect.com and it only said "for your favourite squad members"

On topic: I kinda think this confirmed VS/Liara/Vega will be the perma squad people and everyone else temprorary to a bigger (like 2/3) or smaller (one mission) degree. Or just cameos :/

I will not discuss Tali anymore.

my point was though, since she's removeable, the story just got more multi-layered. that was all.

Okay, jokes aside. if this rumor is true there is NO WAY TALI can have a large involvment in the game and be some quasi-squademate. she wasn't going to have a large role to begin with anyways, her plight with her people is a bit different from what Shepard is going through with EARTH, We can see why Ashley, Kaidan and Liara will have a large impact but I-no-see-connection-Tali.

Considering she could die in ME2, obviously her role was never going to be TOO essential anyways, since she could be dead before the game even starts. :P

Uh oh, Casey just can't stop tweeting:

@CaseyDHudson Can you elaborate on what you mean by this, without spoiling too much of the story? Can there be a happy ending with Tali?

@CaseyDHudson So would I be wrong to say playing ME3 will be like playing the Suicide Mission in ME2. Your choices could get S.M. killed?

@kainryckarr @A_Keezie Can't comment on possible endings without spoiling the story, but #ME3 will involve lots of life & death decisions.

I would hope that some of our favorite characters can become permanent eventually, like in the last act or something at least :/. Don't want to face off the end of the game with characters I don't want.

I think story-wise its excellent choice to know that, any squadmates can die which is logical to me.

Since anyone can die in ME2s ending it is pretty diverse already.

Meh... Weirdly enough I prefer movies to be bleak and with dark endings. Games on the other hand should have happy endings. Doesn't make any sense really but thats how I feel. Image IPB

Hmmm. I'd be quite happy if all the squaddies were temporary. Obviously, I want to be able to talk to my favourite characters, but I don't need them on my team the whole time. And a rotating squad would probably open up more opportunities for banter, since there would be fewer squad pairs available for any mission.

This, so much.

Add Vega to that too. Honestly, the guy doesn't have a chance to impress me now if he ends up pulling a Jacob and popping up after missions to voice his unwanted opinion while the characters we've already grown to know and love are nowhere to be seen.
