I know there have been a million and a half threads about how folks want there ME3 to end, but I felt I needed to drag it out again because I just thought of mine.

Mood music.

The Reapers have destroyed nearly everything.  The galaxy is a smoldering ruin, with a population of trillions knocked down to a few dozen billion, perhaps even less.  The survivors, out of options, banded together, the remains of their civilizations finally setting aside their differences out of desperation, and launched a last ditch, all-or-nothing offensive that hinged on an insane plan and a massive amount of luck.

The two forces smashed together, and in that instant every living, conscious organism seemed to hold its breath...

The smoke clears.  At first, it isn't certain if the plan succeeded or not, but slowly the crew of the Normandy opens their eyes, shocked to discover they are still alive.  Contact is re-established with other ships, and it is revealed that the plan had, in fact, worked--the Reapers have been beaten back.

We won.  We lost nearly everything, but we won.

There may be little but rubble left of our cities, nothing but a few worn-out cruisers left of our fleets, but we will rebuild.

We will start over.  Different.  Better.  Things will be hell at first, with most of the relays nonfunctional and communications with survivors cut off, but after fighting against gods, our next task will seem easy.

Finally, we are no longer under the power of cold, heartless gods.  We are free, free to determine our own future.  Free to choose what we are and what we will become.

Shepard and company look over the ruins, bloodied and worn out, their faces grim with so much loss still fresh in their memories, but an optimistic glow is seen in the commander's eyes.

Despite all odds, despite every setback, every dead end, every defeat, we made it.

We won.  We are free.  And we will rebuild.

I do not want unity ending.

Well except for Quarian and Geth.

I want the mass relay system to be destroyed thus isloating the various pockets of the galaxy. Some new technology would have to be opened up but I want starship travel, and in particular communications, to be much harder.

Standing on the Citadel, bent, bowed, but not broken, with my team- squaddies and ship crew- and survivors of the onslaught. And any people close to my squad/crew that survived- Kolyat, Oriana, etc- at hand.

No theatrics, no meta, no slow clap or cheers. Just the realisation that we've walked barefoot through hell and back, and lived.

And the citadel is destroyed, as that is the final boss (fingers crossed).

One ending i would love to see is what i call the Illusive Shepard ending, By the end of the game Shepard has become the new illusive man and is seen have a drink and a cigarette while talking to one of the squadmembers (your squad will have joined to be top agents of Cerberus (which depending on your choices may have been reformed to be less xenophobic and won't do evil experiments)) and they will discuss what to do next now that the reaper threat is gone

From years ago... (old ME1 forums)

GodWood wrote...

Shepard, standing with his LI, holding her hand, both looking up into a blood red sky, where we see multiple explosions off in the distance with a legion of Reapers flying overhead, darkening the sky, the scene then quickly cuts to flashing images of Reapers attacking each species planets, with the sounds of bombs, gunfire, screaming etc.
Scene cuts back to Shepard, he collapses to his knees, his LI rests her hand on his shoulder and the screen then fades to black.

Eventually the screen fades in and we see a new alien species looking at some kind of holigram, the hologram speaks of a species of sentient machines that is coming to destroy all organic life in the galaxy, the hologram is then revealed and we see that it is Shepard...

The war against the Reapers was lost. We see the Normandy flying through space by itself. Most of the Normandy crew is dead. Only Shepard, Garrus, Joker, Miranda, Dr. Chakwas, Kelly and a few others live. Everyone looks super depressed. Shepard goes up to his cabin, sits on his couch, takes out a pistol and aims it at his head. He starts screaming violently and his eyes turn all red and slightly teary. He then takes a deep breath, closes his eyes and tries to relax. The screen goes black and we hear a gunshot.

Late night goofiness? Why not.

=========================

Liara finds a lead that takes Shepard to a Prothean beacon which gives him a vision. Liara melds with Shepard to make sense of it. It's murky at first, but then she and Shepard see a vision of a Reaper. The vision clarifies, and enhances, and zooms into until they see...

THE REAPER'S VOOLNERABLES!

Hope is kindled! Shepard immediately has Mordin modify his Cain to fire Reaper Voolnerable-Seeking Dark Energy Missiles. If Shepard is a Paragon then Mordin will say he studied a chunk of metal that fell off one of the damaged Reapers and has concluded that Reapers don't suffer or feel pain, even when hit in the voolnerables.

Shepard heads to Earth and lands on the ground with Garrus. Garrus doesn't fire Reaper Voolnerable-Seeking Dark Energy Missiles, but Shepard likes to know how impressive his shots are.

Shepard storms his way from city to city leaving a trail of incapacitated Reapers in his wake. His shots are very impressive.

Earth saved, Shepard meets with the Council aboard the Destiny Ascension to discuss the next step. The Council suggest that the incapacitated reapers be arrested and tried for Reaping Without A License. Shepard leaves.

Back on the Normandy, Shepard meets Legion who has been in contact with the rest of the Geth and has learned that their Dyson Sphere is complete. Except it's not really a Dyson Sphere! It's actually a massive transmitter that allows the Geth to broadcast a galaxy-wide signal that can indoctrinate incapacitated Reapers!

Shepard asks if they've turned it on yet. Legion says they haven't, because they've not reached consensus. Legion explains that Shepard must go to the heart of Geth's central consciousness supercomputer before the Reapers recover and pass a Charm/Intimidate test to convince the Geth to indoctrinate the Reapers.

Shepard sets off towards the Veil, knowing this is the last step to defeating the reapers. Garrus ninjamances him in his quarters.

Shaken but still determined, Shepard enters the Geth megastructure and takes the Charm/Intimidate test. The screen fades to black...

...

Epilogue
======

Shepard: You want another drink, honey?
Liara: Oh, go on then.
Shepard: Harby!
Harby: YES, SHEPARD?
Shepard: Two more, and put some ice in mine would you?
Harby: YES, SHEPARD.

I doubt the Reapers will go away. They'll probably struggle on hiding in dark places, defeated, but always on the lookout to strike again someday. I also get the feeling the Reapers are sort of like Locusts of the Universe. There will always be another swarm that appears from somewhere to do the same thing.

Hmm so many biblical undertones, I suspect Shepard will open the Red Sea in ME3.

Personally I don't care how it ends exactly so long as I get to fire a few proton torpedo's down Harbinger's thermal exhaust port. Personally I expect like 90% of everyone to be dead, but the remaining 10% will live on for furture Mass Effect games. If TOR doesn't flop I suspect Bioware will make another MMO where you can actually play as Geth, Quarian, Turian, Krogan, or whatever 2000 years after the events of ME3. Shepard will be this lost in time Hero who nobody really remembers. Then surprise a million Reapers come from some other part of the Universe!

Hmm I think I'd like one where my LI died about 2/3 of the way through, and everyone else died at the conclusion of the game stopping the reapers...

Organic life would be able to redevelop 50,000 years, never knowing who you were, or what you did, but without the threat of the Reapers looming over them.

I think it would be... I'm not sure how to describe it, but it has a really beautiful sense of finality to it?

Or maybe I'm just weird :P

great, but i don't think they'll "re-set" the entire galaxy, as that would spoil sequel potential somewhat... :P

Fair enough! But maybe they'll just consider it non-canon? Like Shepard dying in ME2 was? That would be fair enough, its like saying 'well if you want that ending, it ends, and no sequel exists, while if you want to play the sequel, pick a different one!'

I guess I'd need two saves :P

Shepard and LI get married/civil partnership, with pictures of people from Shepards squad who died during the three games (like in Armageddon). Then fast forward to Shepard as an old man with his LI in the mountains somewhere, only to see Reapers appear through the atmosphere once more.

Shepard drops to the ground, curls up into a ball and rocks back and forth muttering "Its over. We've won." constantly.
Or he gets crowned First Galactic Emperor, and proceeds to turn the Citadel into a Golden Throne, from which he will rule his Imperium.....wait, wrong franchise.

Godwood's suggestion wouldnt be too bad either.

For a somewhat bleak ending but not necessarily as emotional.

The galaxy united doesn't win really, They only push the reapers away and dooms another galaxy to the fate of continual annihilation.

Oh, not my personal preference. Just an alternative that I just thought of.

I don't want a "galaxy reset" ending where almost everything is destroyed.

Any endings I'd be able to call "favorites" would *require* the following elements:
(1) Reaper technology is on its way to being deciphered rather than indiscriminately destroyed
(2) Prohibitions on AI research and genetic engineering are mostly lifted
(3) Miranda has found / can be expected to find a way to pass on her gifts

Otherwise I'd find the following elements interesting, not necessarily in the same game:
(1) Humanity has saved the day, but Earth is destroyed. In spite of that and the decimated population, a technological lead acquired during the war makes humanity one of the most influential factions of the galaxy.
(2) The mass relay network has been completely destroyed. After-the-Reapers civilizations must rebuild them, use regular FTL to travel between the stars or find something completely different.

Godwood's scenario is also interesting, though it wouldn't be my favorite ending.

My Mood Music for the ending....
Shepard looks around him. Surrounded by dirt, rubble, dust and smoke flying through the air. The sky turning Orange with a hint of grey from the clouds. The sun rising it all its beautiful glory with the sparkling Abyss below.  Citizens stare at it in awe. The meaning behind it spreading it's warmth around, comforting them. It was over, they had won.. A tiring, long journey, sacrifices, deaths, all over.
Shepard walks up to a raised piece of rubble and stands starting at the rising sun. He feels kind of emotional, exausted. Relief floods his body making him smile. Those that died, who sacrificed their lives will never be forgotton. They will stay in everyones hearts and minds.
Miranda walks up next to Shepard and places her arm on his shoulder. They look at each other with love and admiration. He takes her hand from his shoulder and wraps it around his neck. They embrace as they stare off into the sunset.
Today was a new beginning. The start of a new life for everyone.

So yeah, this is my kind of ending.... Posted Image

The old order is cast down completely and from its ashes rises a new one, lead by humanity. We solidify our grip on the Citadel and through it the galaxy. Reaper technology is mastered and proliferated throughout mankind, transforming our entire species and then the entire galaxy into something new. Technological singularity.

Shepard unites the galaxy, all the races stand united against the reapers and epically kill them off with the power of orchestra. Shepard (and love interest), EDI and Joker sacrifices themselves in the final battle, ramming the Normandy, their very own living spaceship, into Harbinger, Keith Szarabajka's living spaceship. The end.

I sort of see the ending being that we beat back the Reapers but it is a stalemate. The trouble is the Reapers are actually the protectors of the Galaxy and since we have weakened them so much they are unable to defend an invasion by something far worse.

Something akin to the Epilogue of Alistair Reynolds book http://en.wikipedia..../Absolution_Gap

Epic battle at the end
an epic space battle with shepard and his allies facing what is left of the reaper fleet
ill call shepard and co allies and call the reapers just reapers
the battle commences and the allies are taking huge casulties.
cutscene with a decision:rachni fleets fly in taking reapers by surprise
battle continues reapers start to lose but after the initial surprise attack reapers start taking advantage over battle once again
cutscene possibly krogan reniforcemnets led by urdnot wrex with vast numbers of krogan if geneophage gets cured
reapers cant handle the losses and slowly get overwhelmed and begin to fall back
cutscene reaper reinforcments come led by harbinger shepard does one of those things such as that wasn't the main reaper army it was just a scout team - yes i no it was a bit crap
battle commences allies begin to lose and decide to issue a full retreat
allies leave

reapers take out each star system one by one ....

I really dont know how allies will kill reapers but it would be pretty cool if mega prothean fleet come and just kick the reapers butt.

Mass effect 4 set up them Protheans want to remake thier empire and start killing allies

I like this part. Though I think the fact that the effects of a technological singularity are intrinsically unknowable will prevent this from being featured in the games. Too vague. I think it's possible, though, that we end up on the way to a technological singularity triggered by Reaper tech instead of being there at once. That would leave some room for concrete events to happen to species and characers before it all goes off into the unknown.
