Ive googled, i searchd this forum. Cant find anyone else having this problem. So Ive installed it (ages ago), and reinstalled many times now tonigh...and when I go to zorya its like the map loads up wrong, its just open space like a grey area, with a couple satellite looking things, a mountain, and some trees. THe only thing I can do is shoot. If I press escape I go to the menu and when I leave it everything is black. Same thing if I hit shift to bring up the command menu.

My guess would be the dlc isnt installing correctly (and yet I checked during the install and it seems to be loaidng all the files, even ran it as administrator a few times), or not displaying right or something. Its really aggrivating either way. ive reloaded many times, used the "restart mission" save...used a save from further back to let it reload the galaxy map (i know, just a crazy idea) and nothing is working. It always looks the same too, like ive fallen down into the map or something. Or like there's supposed to be something loaded in front of me that never showed up, so Im just stuck. Also, I played this before and I thought it started with a cutscene of some sort.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hardware:

nvidia 465, 4 gigs memory, windows 7 64, p5ke motherboard (yes its 1.1 pci so my video card is bottlenecked a bit by it, but it still runs me2 flawlessly)

More information is required before we can start to help.

CPU type and speed?
Game patch version?
Game type? (Disk, Steam, EADM)
Video driver version (actual nvidia driver release, not the generic 8.xxx number given out by dx diag)
Have you modded it?
Audio device and drivers.

CPU is a quad core 2.4ghz
Patch is 2.02, which i believe installed with one of the DLCs,
Installed from disk
Driver is 270.61
audio device is a creative audigy with latest drivers
i messed with the coalesced a bit, but nothing that I would think would do this. And that was the first thing I thought of, so I switched to the backup I made before editing it and it didnt fix anything.
Ive used gibbed's save file editor because I lost my saves a while ago and I imported some from masseffectsaves that I wanted to make sure used the ME1 choices I actually made. Only things I used the save editor to change were the character's sex, class and the me1 choices, then did the thing where you say it was a completed game so you can load it up as a second playtrhough and actually have the choices take effect. I'm a couple missions away from the collector ship at this point, with no issues until this.

And an update from when I posted: i went to another mission from the original game (jacob's loyalty) and its working fine. Before I did zaeed, I did kasumi's mission which also went off without a hitch.

And this might be extra info, but things I edited with coalesced: storm stamina, unlocked everone's alt. armors that you normally have to wait until after the loyalty missions to have, and made some key bindings for different things, also made it so the command menu (left shift) is a toggle instead of having to be held down. But like I said, I removed that coalesced and reinstituted the backup of the original, didnt fix.

Edit: nvidia released a new video driver but im doubtin it will fix my problem, I think I was just one update behind, meanin my driverscame out long after me2 did.

Definately sounds like a rendering fault. Either there are corrupt files in the DLC, or your video driver is too new to be backwards compatible with ME2.
If you have already reinstalled the DLC a couple of times like you inferred in your first post, that tleaves the video driver. Newer drivers (especially Nvidia) often incorporate tweaks which are designed to streamline newer games, but can often leave faults in older games such as ME2. I would suggest stripping those drivers out,and trying older ones.

It could also be a corruption in your save game. A quick way to test it would be to fire up a new game, get Zaeed on Omega, and immediately go to Zoyra to test it out.

Looks like it was the save, had a male soldy all set up for a paragon playtrhough 2 and its able to do the mission fine and there IS a cutscene at the beginning so something is happening where the cutscene isnt starting on the other save, WEAK.

Went back to the renegade char and loaded up a savefrom earlier in the game back on omega, got zaeed went and tried the mission - it worked.... that's kind of annoying because at that point id done all my save editing, so the game screwed it up somewhere.

EDIT : Looks ike it was pretty simple - the problem was using zaeed's alternative armor

Thanks for the help, cant believe it ended up being that of all things.

3 hours wasted!

Dont kick yourself too much, even the best of us make mistakes like that.
I used Gibbeds to enable Legion in my squad to check out his lines in all recruitment/loyalty missions, and then wondered why the derelivct reaper mission kept crashing on me. I was derping hard that day.

This is a link to a save editor that allows you to change your CURRENT play without having to do the ng + marker to get the changes. So far no issues except to be careful of not saving in wrong format ie don't put a xbox format save in the folder doesn't allow loads to work......learned hard way.

Ahh, so it's because zaeed's wearing the alternate outfit, huh? I guess I'll give it a go.
Thanks a lot. Can't believe I quit playing coz of this problem.

Well, since it's all solved and all I'm just gonna provide the screenshot of what it looks like for everyone to see:

The 8400 GS was listed as inadequate by Bioware when the game was released. It has such slow feedback that is is unable to allow its owner to interact correctly with the game environment.

PC MINIMUM System Requirements
OS = Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor = 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
Memory = 1 GB RAM for Windows XP / 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Hard Drive = 15 GB
DVD ROM = 1x Speed
Sound Card = DirectX 9.0c compatible
Direct X = DirectX 9.0c August 2008 (included)

Please note that NVIDIA GeForce G.205, G.210, 310, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9100, 9200, and 9300, also (probably) GT 520; ATI Radeon X1300, X1550, HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, 4550, and (probably) HD 5450 are below minimum system requirements. It's actually allright Gorath. I'm playing at superlow settings at
800x600. Plus, I even edit the \\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect
2\\BIOGame\\Config\\GamerSettings.ini file to add a couple of lines with
DepthOfField=False. It looks worse than bad, but it's enough for me.

This manages the lighting to be less resourceful eliminating the dark areas
of the screen. It also gets rid of the blur effect during cutscenes
which takes a lot of graphic memory processes. In the end, having that
single line in the .ini file makes you able to see more objects clearly
without blur, brighter environment, improved FPS, and "interact
correctly with the environment" [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

I just wish that for future games, Bioware would allow more graphic customisation to the players. I'm not saying to stop making better graphic games.. Please do.. But also please think about players that's using legacy systems such as myself. Things like: dust particles, smoke, depth of field, blur, dynamic shadows, fog, particle effects such as light refraction caused by heat or flame. I don't doubt these things makes the game more enjoyable, but that's only on high-end graphics card. On old graphic cards, these little things actually the main contributor to FPS lag, and not being able to turn it off annoys people.

In short, just make games with a never ending maximum graphic threshold, but keep the minimum to a very very low-end minimum. It makes people with high-end graphics happier with improving graphics, and keep us low-ends happy as well. More players, more revenue for Bioware.

Thanks for the info though, and the solutions.
