When I am playing Mass Effect 2 sometimes I hit the hotkeys to use an ability and it doesn't work so I have to click on the spells or re drag the spell over the hotkey and replace it then it works sometimes also when I fiddle around with my spells drag them to the hotkeys that I want them to be my game just crashes it is really annoying is there a way to fix this? Thank you so much any help/suggestions will be highly appreciated

We can't do anything. Read the description. This is a Self-Help forum; gamers come here to seek suggestions for help with technical problems. We don't "fix" anything at all. You have been around the forums enough to know that. Maybe you have forgotten already, but if / when you do want assistance from fellow gamers, you should complete a proper problem report just as described by Pacifien in her pinned sticky message near the top.

If you want the bug to be fixed, go to EA support and lodge a support ticket with them. Once they get a sufficient number of complaints, then they will look at putting resources towards fixing the problem.
If you want a workaround, thats what we can provide you with here. The workaround is simple. Do not change the hotkeys setup after you have used a power that is listed on it. Set up your hotkeys right at the very start of each mission, and do not try to change them halfway through. If you do need to change them, savem exit to main menu, load thath save, change the hotkeys, and continue on that mission.

Hey mate I understand what you are saying thank you for your reply but the weird thing is for example when I do set up my hotkeys and click the required hotkey to use them for example tech armor is my 2 button on my keyboard it wont work when I press it so I have to click it or remove it from the bar and the re add it then it works but if I do that I have a high chance of my game crashing it is really annoying but yes I guess I am going to have to deal with it until someone knows a frix to this problem thank you.

I havent heard of this particular bug before, where the button functionality is lost until you reset the hotkey. I can only assume it has something to do with keyboard maopping, or you have smoe form of keylogging program installed on your computer which is causing the problem to occur.
Its possible someone in EA support has heard of this, and dealt with it before. You could try contacting them, as they provide official tech support for the game.
