I always thought the ME games were missing a good way to program squadmate behavior.  I.e., the targeting of certain enemies (going after protected enemies first, or vice versa), or there general movement patterns (stay as far the enemy as possible, get right in their faces, stay close to shep, etc).

If anyone has played Tales of Symphonia, you'll know the kind of mode I'm talking about.

Anyone else interested in something like this?

Be more aggressive, stay in cover, move around a lot, and things like that?

I'd like if that's more depending on the character.

Though, I wouldn't really like if one of them charges towards certain death in every fight, so it'd have to be carefully designed.

I remember in KotOR you could assign some AI things to your squadmates...
Like Grenadier, Support and stuff...

I would prefer more AI, but I would prefer as much of it to be handled by the computer as possible. Mass Effect has developed itself as a fast paced Shooter-RPG-DatingSim thing; I don't want the game to get too bogged down in having to command every little aspect of my squad. I would, however, like them to act more intelligently.

I would like to be able to set my squadmates to go into cover and stay there when shields drop untill regenerated, but that would probably make game to trivial.

For example, I would like my squad to break commands I've given them if their position is no longer advantageous. A lot of encounters have me moving to the end of the room, only for entrance of the room to have enemies attempting to flank me. If I left my squad in a position of cover they will just get shot in the back to death while making no attempt to do something simple like jump over the small ledge they're leaning against to be on the non-bullet-hole side.

They have something similar in Dragon Age, but I don't think it would transfer over to the way they have tried to design Mass Effect. I would prefer to have them fix the AI from ME2 so its not standing on boxes or doing something else equally suicidal.
