I tried getting Legion as renegade by choosing "cerberus gets the geth" and they really did... no Legion. Then I tried again and got 22 paragon pts by selecting the option on top.

Is there a way to get Legion as renegade?

Take the points, it's not really possible to get 0 points in the other bar anyway (you get some of each side for free) and that small change shouldn't have a big impact on persuasion if you're otherwise purely Renegade.

I hate the way that they made this a Paragon/Renegade decision. If I'm playing a pure renegade, and I pick the bottom option, I miss out on a squadmate. So if you keep the geth, you get 20 paragon points. Same with the Samara/Morinth fight. Apparently the renegade choice is to pick the psychopathic murderer who just tried to kill you over the justicar who swore an oath of loyalty to you. That's not renegade, that's just plain stupid, and I hate that the game gives me another 20 paragon points for a decision that shouldn't involve morality.

Sure, you get 20 Paragon points for waking Legion but you get 30 Renegade points for blowing up the Heretic base.

Morinth as a squadmate was extremely half-assed. The game gives no compelling reason to pick her besides the novelty of it("I gots Morinth lulz!").

So you want to be a renegade, but get all the rewards of a paragon?
Your choices actually do have consequences. Either deal with the fact you get some paragon points, or deal with the fact you lose your robot buddy.

The same could be said about the paragons the took renegade points helping Liara on Illium.

You get 5 points compared to 20. It can mess up the renegade scarring.
