And no, a soundtrack/multiplayer/level editor/what-the-hell-ever disk does not count as >2.
ME2 IIRC used just about every block on two DVD's. (For the XBOX version at least, have not checked my PC disks). ME be like heroin-we need ever increasing dosages for out fix.

Even if I don't have any problem with disk swapping.

One function that would be great would be if I can install all disks and then just use the first one.

I second this, just have the second dics for installment only, this way you can play with one dics and not worry about swaps/:ph34r:

You install it the same way as you would any other Xbox 360 game (My Xbox disc, press Y and select install) you still need to change discs though.Son of Illusive Man wrote...
Wait, is there a way to install ME2 on your hard drive? I have never tried, but I assumed it might not be possible with two disks.
Castlevainia: Lords of Shadow used a system where you could just have a specific disc inserted and have the other disc installed and play without changing discs though.

the only reason you needed the second disk was basicly for illium. they just threw the rest on there so you wouldn't have to switch disks as often they didnt NEED all of the second disk.
I was not aware of that-I stand corrected. If they have near a whole 2nd disk to work with-then that is good thing.

It is possible to install both discs onto the Xbox (both ME1 and 2) are permananetly on mine. Press Y for game info and there should be the option there. Cuts down on the annoying disc spin noise and makes laod times faster.
Still have to swap discs though which is annoying.
To be honest I'm not bothered about the game being split over as many discs as needed - it wasn't a problem with all those Final Fantasy ps1 games and others. If it means more content then as many as necessary.
Even though i also have a ps3 and will have a gaming rig in next few weeks I'll stick to Xbox for ME3 since that's where I started with the first game.
(...although depending how I get to grips with pc play i might switch, dunno yet ^^)
(Edited for shpeelings and plus D'oh! Paul beat me to install instructions:ph34r:)

Apparently the new disk format should be able to fit it onto 1 disk. That's what I'm hoping.
I can not find the post, but I believe a Bioware employee posted that ME3 will probably not be using the new disk format for some reason. I can't remember the specifics though.

illium isn't the only thing on disk 2 that isnot on disk 1 but a lot of the info on disk 1 is doubled onto disk 2 so that you don't have to switch disks as often. like I think they have all side quest/uncharted world missions on both disks citadel on both and a load of other things but I know that illium is only on disk one and omega 4 is only on disk 1.

The new disk format is still a DVD, just with an extra gig or so, which still would be nowhere near fitting ME2 on one disc. It is unlikely that the new disk format will have that great of an effect on ME3 had they chosen it.

I couldn't care less if ME3 comes on 3-4 discs and requires 3-4 changes throughout the game. Just don't over compress stuff just to cut the number of discs down please. That's what LA:N did on 360 to get it down to 3 discs, and the audio quality suffered.
I agree. LA Noire was three disks to avoid those problems though, so I am pretty sure the audio is rather good and they did three so they wouldn't have to compress too much. The 360 version is the same size as the PS3 one.

Disc 2 also has all of the recuitement missions after Horizon and all loyalty missions and a few locations like Tuchanka which are not on disc 1 which take up at least half the disc contentvader da slayer wrote...

Not quite. The xbox version was SIX discs for a long time. they had to do some sick compression to fit it all on 3. I read an interview with the project lead who said that he couldnt believe that they actually got it down to 3.. The audio suffered in comparison to the PS3 release.

Yep for some reason people are under the impression that it is a new disc format (like Blu-Ray or HD-DVD) whereas it is just a new disc layout (all they have done is remove the video which plays when you put the disc into the wrong drive and re-did the copyright protection stuff which frees up ~1Gb). The only thing the update does it tells the Xbox that the new format is correct.

I heard about that, but it was early on and wasn't official. The guy who said it was referring to how there was tons of content and they expected that it "could have been four, five, or six." He wasn't talking about just 360 or DVDs either, they thought it could be more than one blu ray too, but both versions ended up at around 23GB which took the 3 DVDs and a single layer blu ray. They are both equally compressed, though not identical and not always in the same spots. Overall, both versions came out great.
Honestly though, I don't mind if ME3 is on four or 5 disks. I want them to push as much into this as possible and to not have such terribly compressed pre rendered scenes of the Normandy and arriving at planets and such.

""It took a lot of effort to get down to three discs - I think we were on four or five or six at one point - and to get it onto one Blu-ray [for the PS3 version]. We're pretty pleased that we got it down to that in the end."
- is the only real quote I can find but I guess 6 discs aint so hard to believe when you think that the completely cut the bunco and burglary desks, both had at least 3 cases on them each, and then they just got savaged.. Anyway, off topic.
ME3 = dont care how many discs, just dont cut or over compress stuff pls.
