So ME2 smartly began with Shephard dying and then getting reconstructed so it made sense that you'd be able to create a new face.
I don't think they'll go the dying route again though. Do you think they'll come up with some story reason as to why you can change your face and class again, or will they just do it at the beginning and forget about trying to contrive a reason for it?
How will they contrive changing your face again?

It's probably going to be the same as ME1, with the data being corrupted.

I'm guessing this. They may not allow you to alter your face if you import, as well.will they just do it at the beginning and forget about trying to contrive a reason for it?

Well I'm more concerned with whether we'll be starting at "level 1" again. It made some sense in ME 2 to start over, and it was nice to have a few extra levels depending on how far over level 50 your character got in ME 1. But still, it would be nice if Shepard started out with some abilities and the level cap was just raised instead of doing the old low level climb back up.

I'm hoping we're not back down to lv1 again. But if the skills are going to change we may have to start at lv1 again.

Shepard accidentally cuts himself in the face with the omni-blade and is forced to go through a surgery to save his face.

You can, they confirmed it.

Could have EDI hack into the Alliance files and alter the data on Shepard.

Should there be a reason to change your face?
And I think the reason in ME2 was not smartly.

I think they should just let us do it if we want to. they don't need a complicated reason for it. also we should be able to import a completed game and be able to change our appearance and class instead of having to start brand new.

Shepard cut himself shaving.
Or she could just die again. Whatever.

I hope its this or something equally silly.
Shepard: Hey Garrus, watch me balance this beaker of conc HCl on my chin.
Garrus: Are you sure that's a good idea?
Shepard: Pfft, I'm too pretty to mess this up...
Shepard: Arrrrrrrggggggggghh!

Well technically Shepard didn't really change her face. It was just an excuse to incorporate it into the gameplay in a smooth way.
I expect something as ordinary as 'corrupted file, please reconstruct profile'. I don't think there's a reason to go overboard with this idea. Every game requires some degree of makebelieve from the player after all.

They really don't need a plot reason to let the player mess with their face.

It's a long trial. Shepard goes out to relax. Shepard plays ice hockey. Shepard get his face knocked off by a krogan on offense.

I don't care how they contrive it, so long as the option is given. ME1 and especially ME2 are terrible if you want to tweak appearances due to absurdly long unskippable cutscenes between them and I hope they expand customization options.

Or they can just make you make your face before starting the game.

Didn't Hudson confirm that we could only change our hair style? I don't remember him saying the whole face.

I thought it would be cool that during the trial, they have one of those sketch artists drawing you and bam; enable customization.

shepards been in a cell till the trial and the wait and stress of it all, along with knowing the reapers could be there any day, has taken its toll blah blah blah something.
