Ah I get like 3-4 of these a week, on two different E-mail accounts, despite my marking them as the phishing schemes they are.

Oddly I got a new phisher this week though claiming to be from DHL.

It was a basic "we tried to deliver a package" deal with a attachment that apparently held the details.

Being a cynical git I scanned and E-mailed the companies customer support but I can't help but wonder how many people would just "OMG packagez" and open the darn thing.

It's sad, but one of my work colleagues got done by what appeared to be the same email. The only thing that saved her was the fact she incorrectly filled out the form.
It's like door to door sales, early on they got plenty of hits, these days people spot them from a mile away.
Oh by the way, if you email me with your bank details I can deposit 7 Trillion Bahjillion dollars from a deceased uncle whose will is in contention...

*in the voice of a CM from the WoW forums*

"Blizzard will never ask you for your password.  Also, we already have the rest of those details, and can even play your characters when you aren't around.  BTW nice mage you have there..." =]

I've never actually gotten one of these emails, guess they know how non-epic my characters are (I don't raid), and feel it would be a waste of time.

hahahaha, they are always trying to get our passwords, no?

"If you ignore this mail your account can and will be closed permanently"

wow, they are really threatening, aren't they?

Well, sometimes we just don't pay attention to it and send them our information, sadly. I look carefully the e-mail who sent it before consider reading it.

I got this email a few days ago, saying that I need to merge my WoW account with battlenet.

A ton of useless writing, then in the end, it says the following:

"How can I be sure this email is genuine?

This information will also be posted on our official websites and in the World of Warcraft launcher in the coming weeks. If you are concerned about clicking the links in this email, you can do an Internet search for “Battle.net” or manually type the web addresses above into your browser. Remember that Blizzard Entertainment staff will *never* ask you for your password. However, you will need to input this information during the Battle.net account creation and merging process."

Note what is written in the end of that......lol?

Actually, you really do need to merge your WoW account into a Battle.net account. I'm not kidding here (this is as serious as serious gets).  They're shutting down all WoW-only accounts on November 11th, so you won't be able to log-on with them.  You even get a little in-game penguin pet for doing so. 8]

<_<

Seriously though, the only place they ask you for it is once you've made your B.net account.  You need to put in your WoW account name and password so it knows which account to merge.  Very quick and painless otherwise. B)
