Requirements:

Dragon Age II

=================
Description:
=================

Toughens up your faithful dog.

=================
Details:
=================

Several people at the BSN have expressed concern about Dog's performance, especially on Nightmare where he often falls quickly due to friendly fire. This mod toughens him up a little bit by bumping him up from "critter" rank to "normal."

I'm very interested in hearing people's feedback about balancing. I can modify his health and damage output as needed, so if anyone thinks he should have more health or do more damage or anything, that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. Help me make Dog useful!

Health wise I think he's right where he needs to be. I've still had him die in combat, either to friendly fire or enemy, but he's not an instant squish anymore. I feel as far as dmg taking goes, he's right where he needs to be, not a squish and not OP, still falls in combat, but doesn't get insta-killed. I'll have to pay more attention to his dmg dealing to give a opinion on that. I know he can handle holding a target while I kill something else, but doesn't get it more than 50% down before I take over from him to kill it.

I really wish the dog weren't male so I could make a bitch joke, but alas.

Personally I thought he was already good without the buff, the only real problem I had was keeping him safe around 2-handers (which should be easy in 1.03). That in mind, and keeping in mind that I used an endgame save to test (easier in general), and keeping in mind that the big enemies I've fought so far were rage demons which do fire damage (to which he is immune), yeah he does seem more 'sturdy' now. Obviously that feedback isn't particularly useful though, I'll play with it some more and see if I can get a better idea...

You say that about 1.03, but I have it installed and am still seeing plenty of friendly fire dmg.

Ok I did a little testing with a level 21 mage. Doggie is definitely stronger now and his damage output is at least decent enough to be able to say that he is contributing and not just holding off enemies. At level 21, my mage's base damage was 76 (103 dps), and Dog was averaging around 30-35 damage more or less, which I would say is a much more decent contribution than what he did before.

Thanks for making this Ish!

You deserve a virtual cookie Ish! Playing nightmare mode and my poor dog isn't kicking the bucket soon after summoning him. Thank you!

Well, since Ser Growls Barkleigh survived tanking in my latest duel with the Arishok, I would say this is working well. Thanks again!

Doesn't seem to be male, actually. Or if he is, then he's one unlucky specimen...
