Holy maker, I got it to work. Like Gisle said, just put it in your overide folde - can't do permanant damage. for Awakenings characters do like so:
ie Velanna
44 Velanna gxa000fl_velanna
Any way to edit your portrait?

Well, it´s funny how when we solve a problem help just keeps coming. But as thanks are rare, here is mine: THANKS.

You should try this with partypickes files to add animations when hiring followers. It is really fun.

Does it mean that if I have ten different modules I have to place portrait.gda in the override folder of each module?

Place it your core Overide folder - My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override\ - and you will only need one. Never ever modify the vanilla game ERFs. That is precisely why you have Override folders.

Are those mods for the SP campaign or are they custom campaigns?

portrait.gda goes in the module override folder. Putting files in packages core override is unnecessary and potentially corrupts other peoples' mods.JR_ANGELO_BR wrote...

If you have ten modules which use the same portraits, presumably they are related in some way, so you could consider making nine of them add-ins to the first. In that case, you only need portrait.gda in the first module override folder.
Even if you had to duplicate the file in ten module override folders, the storage cost is trivial.

err - no.
The background color is to help make your portrait pretty and/or unique. Maybe you got the origin description/tooltip.

Maybe you can find it in the endless mess of variables when you open your savegame file in the toolset. It is the Warden you're talking about, right?

It would have been nice to have function to change those backgrounds.
You could have them change according to approval.
more colorful at high approval and blank grey at low approval.
