Oblivion, on the other hand, seemed amazing to me when i first played it, but the more and more i learned everything about it, the more and more disappointed i was in it.

I don't see how this game was poorly written, it was a compelling experience throughout the entire game. The only thing anyone could complain about, is the lack of customization and combat because it was such a far cry from the usual BioWare game, but even then it's still a great game with great backstory.Moondoggie wrote...
Jade Empire - I came into this game a bit late with the PC version but i'd heard a lot about it from people and wanted to play it for myself. Very poorly written game with a predictable storyline that totally failed to live up to the hype it got.
I just found the story to be silly and predictable. The plot twist was obvious from the start, The characters apart from one or two have really shallow backstories and little reason to keep following you around, Side quests are meaningless and don't add to the story so there is no point in doing them. Everything about the story was not suprising i like a game to thrill me and not just plod along with a story anyone who watches Asian martial arts movies has seen a million times.
The lack of customisation didn't bother me that much it would have been better with a character creator though. The combat is pretty dull too it just turns into button mashing with no tactical planning needed whatsoever but overall it was the story that bothered me since people had hyped the story up so much before i played it.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed: as a fan of the ORIGINAL Trilogy of Star Wars, i was actually intrigued by this game's Premise, it was suppose to bridge the Prequels () with the Originals, and i thought that would be interesting, and i got it.... half of it, i'm still waiting for the other half of the game, it is a incomplete, broken, buggy, messy PoS.
I am with you, pal. And the story:(. Why ?!? Just, why ?
haha, i know, i'm pretty we are some of the few fans left, thanks to the Prequels, and the story in the game, i was often asking myself if there was a story.

Bioshock (1)- Having got into RPGs with Obivion just the year prior, I was looking forward to this RPG, because everyone said that it was an RPG. I found an FPS with annoying gameplay in a unique environment; no RPG to be had. If you say the Bioshock is an RPG, I will never listen to you again.
Mass Effect 2 was okay, felt dinky without the Mako, and it's story was very thin and short (I really hope ME3 has NO team building, just get out there and go). Fallout 3, Oblivion: went everywhere, did everything. Enjoyed it.

My opinion of Bioshock is that, as a shooter, it is decent. It's combat system is quite unique, and fun to experiment with (coming from somebody who plays a good deal of FPS games) - it offers a lot of flexibility, but not at the cost of incredible complexity. But, the real thing that made me like Bioshock was Andrew Ryan. As a character in a video game, and nothing more, he is probably the most interesting, impressive, and well-written I've ever seen. Once he died, I almost couldn't be bothered finishing the game. I guess I was somehow hoping the plot would take a different turn and you would be able to choose between him and Atlas. Instead, they did a DA2.

I'd be generous and call it an action RPG at most. And action RPGs aren't real RPGs.

Fable 3 - Shame that all the emotion they tried to place in it fell more flat than pancakes.
Marvel vs Capcom 3 - Similar to DA2, beaten to death over the internet. Reasons are scattered all over the place.
Tales of Symhonia 2 - I....don't like to talk about it!
Final Fantasy XIII - Me and just about everybody else. (Has its fanbase though)
Final Fantasy XII - It's garbage to me and it shouldn't have been.
Sonic Heroes - The fall after the awesome Sonic Adventure 2 began...

Rule of Rose - Now this was a hard choice. The game has one of the best stories I have ever experienced in a game. It certainly keeps you wanting to know more as the game progresses. The music is wonderful and the graphics are well done. So why is this game such a drag? Yes, the story motivates you straight to the ending, but the combat is just aweful. You find yourself just running away from combat so you can survive. It makes it difficult to enjoy the game as a whole. Most give up and just watched the story in parts on youtube.
The Sims Medieval - I respect the fact that they tried to go for something new. If you've played the game, you'll know just how far it falls from the famous franchise.
Fable 3 - .... I really should not have bought the collectors edition. Yes, the game has fixed several previous faults. The female protagonist (aka Princess) no longer suffers from an unfortunate She-Hulk disorder that caused so many female players to curse the second installment of Fable. The game also has an amazing cast of voice actors. That makes the game even more disappointing. The quests are lack luster, boring, and tedious. The game's enemy was far better than the usual power-hungry individual bent on ruling Albion, but I wasn't as invested in the game as it dragged on. I soon was only playing the game just so I could finish it and put it at the bottom of my stack of games.

I actually liked DA2 and have played it more than 200 hours.
Civ 5 had a lot of problems, and still does after the patch, but I still enjoy the game and I've probably played it more than 300 hrs.
Fallout New Vegas is one of my favorite games, certainly wasn't disappointed, my first playthrough lasted around 160 hours.
I truly hated Borderlands, Arcania Gothic 4 and Mount & Blade Warband, but I didn't have extremely high expectations before playing. Although I did feel ripped off a bit because I paid for these games.

Also Troika's Temple of Elemental Evil - I loved the studio and the Greyhawk setting, and there was so much potential for this game and much to love about it; but shoddy combat mechanics and bugs made it a more disappointing experience than a fun one.

I knew it was going to be not nearly as good as DAO so I drastically lowered my expectations but I was *still* shocked by the awfulness of the game.
I've played many games with bad sequels but I never felt so disappointed before (in games). The next game that comes pretty close is Thief Deadly Shadows.
