I am playing the game on Hardcore, and have all weapons/armor packs, and was wondering wheteher I shoud be a Sentinel or a Soldier.  For those who have played each class, which is better/more enjoyable?

Personally, Sentinel is my favorite class and Soldier my least favorite. They are both extremely powerful on harder difficulties, but I think the Soldier playstyle is just kind of boring (basically just spam Adrenaline Rush). To get the most out of the Sentinel you have to make good use of your powers and your squadmates' powers (remember that using Tech Armor resets the cooldown for your squad's powers). An aggressive Sentinel playstyle is the most fun I've had in ME2.

I recently had this issue myself. I ended up playing exactly 6 hrs (unintentionally) with each class on Hardcore before realizing that the Sentinel was a more preferred class. The Tech and Biotics are helpful in most situations ive come across; and with the locus, you are a beast of an opponent. I went with AR when given the chance due to the Mattock which gives medium and long range but that is just a preference (my big win point for soldier was due to my Mattock against enemies).

Either way, I find my self doing the same thing over and over throughout the game. Soldier, all ARush All the Time. Vanguard, All Charge All The Time. Infiltrator, All Tactical Cloak All The Time. No matter what class, it's cover cover cover, even for Infiltrators, Vanguards, and Sentinels because it's necessary while their signature power recharges. The Sentinels I found to be the most disappointing because the cloak gets stripped before I can get close enough for it to matter. And, I could just flash bang them anyway from cover at any distance.

Vanguards and Sentinels very rarely have to take cover, even on Insanity.

^ +1 Sentinel can kill w/o guns, cover, physics or damage powers! Talk about power of charisma!

Well they are not invincible, which you might think if you've been reading these forums too much.

But it's also my experience that you don't have to take cover all that much. You still need to be careful though and kill quickly if you're going to be out in the open a lot.

My actual preference is either Adept or Vanguard. I have never actually finished a game with Sentinel, the only one I haven't, simply because the game is too easy in most ways. Tech armor is so strong that you really don't have to think, the correct response 99% of the time is activate Tech armor and shoot.

^Wrong. There is always the option to activate TA and just sit there like a turkey. ;)

Not disputing that fact, but isn't the Vanguard the same way with Charge. Tech Armor is much more powerful, but both play very "awesome" one button smash.

1) There are places you can't charge, but you can always use TA.
2) You have to charge an enemy, TA is independent of combat.
3) Charge regins your shields and knocks back one or a very few enemies, TA regins your shields, knocks down enemies in a huge area when it explodes, can also give you half your shields back on explosion, and cools down your squad's powers.
4) There are places where you shouldn't charge, ie too many enemies in an area, or for instance the Praetorian.
5) I have never seen TA glitch and eat a cool, or leave you standing where you were and nothing happens after the animation plays, ie no shields no movement.

The biggest difference to me is if you make a mistake with the Vanguard then you die, odds are much better of living with Sentinel and TA, to the point of almost being hard to die if played even moderately correctly.

And so is the soldier:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdnfwGuXziY

My attempt to play a Sentinel went very much like this:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0Jf9LQRabg

I wasn't disputing the power of Tech Armor. I agree, it is stupid overpowered. And I'm not trying to debate anything. I just thought it was odd you favored the Vanguard, and then knocked the Sentinel for spamming one button. Vanguard plays "smash one button" as well. Not as powerful, but same gameplay as spamming one button. It just isn't as "awesome" as a Sentinel. Both occasionally use another ability to cover up a weakspot (Slam, Stasis, Reave for Vanguard), (Warp, Overload, Stasis for Sentinel). But for the most part I'd say 90%+ of combat is one ability/button.

To me, i'd rather not play either, AR and Tech Armor break the game for me. Either class is far too easy and I never saw any alternative configuration that would add fun or challenge :(

I don't have a problem with sentinel because you spam one button, but that button makes it so easy. You can get away with things that in every other class would get you killed. Vanguard mistakes mean death most times, Sentinel mistakes mean popping tech armor again.

But that would be better I think if you used Power Armor and focused a bit more on casting.

Maybe we're just too good at exploiting Assault Armor?
