Soldier is ARush, and both will be used almost exclusively in it. Now the real question is how you play the game, would you rather snipe and have a heavy AR to back you up or would you rather blast with a LMG and have a sniper rifle to back you up?? You never told us how you play, or what you like, you asked for opinion and we did the best we can considering you haven't posted a video showing your gameplay. So read the thread and see which gun matches how you would rather play, ie rambo or sniper.
I said how I play on the bottom of Page 1...

They both works with ARush. it's just matter of how you play.
Personally I prefer Mattock, because it's effective. And because its semi-automatic I find it more accurate and it's easier for me kill with it. And killing is much faster, because it has highest damage from all AR's. Now Revenant isn't that bad, but it's just doesn't fit my play style, especially on higher difficulties.
So, I prefer Mattock, but you can't really know, which is better suited for you before you actually try both of them for some time.

I'll probably use the Mattock and then switch to the Revenant.
Why will going for the revenant be a waste of time?
So...which one guys?!

But I need to know which one is better for my style of play so I know whcih weapon to pick when I'm at the Collector Ship.

This isn't an indication of playstyle but an indication you like the Soldier's class power. Try again.
And quite frankly your entire list of posts in this thread don't even make up one decent post....which you are either untentionally or intentionally verging on troll behavior. Man up grow some balls and make a choice.

However, that's only if it's your first play through or you don't like any kind of challenge. Many find this game play boring.
The Rev. would have been ideal as a squad support weapon if the AI took it seriously and dove for cover. Then it could be used to better position your squad mates for flanking or opportunity kills. As it is, though, it's just a LMG. However, it does pose more challenge, IMO, than the mattock, so for the soldier I'd choose Rev over Mattock every day.
The viper is there for the long shot, the Rev with it's high ammo count is your every day shooter, and the Evi, Geth shotty or Scimitar for those times you just want to get up close and personal.
In the end, though, it doesn't really matter. As a soldier you can complete the game with Ad.Rush and a pistol if you wanted to.

The new weapons were supposed to upset the power balance.

Revenant has its charm though. You never run out of ammo, and you can employ copious quantities of suppressing fire.
The Revenant, however, does not become truly impressive until you get near the top of the upgrade tree. At about +40% damage upgrade and with the accuracy upgrade, it becomes a seriously devastating weapon with the right ammo powers. Inferno ammo is probably the best, since it has an area effect.

Tough choice. Mattock is a killing machine under Adrenaline Rush.

Anyone know where I can find those assault rifle accuracy upgrades?

But, in light of the OP's Soldier vs. Sentinel thread, this Revenent Soldier vid shows a Sentinel like play style:
I'm playing a Mattock+Widow Soldier now and I hardly use the Widow. It's low ammo is annoying me. Each clip gives it only one round. I tend to use it on YMIR, and other big mobs, to save my Mattock ammo. I guess I would be just as happy using the Viper in place of the Widow. It's got a similar fire rate to the Mattock and good damage.
So, maybe it's worth the OP's time getting Revenent to try out.
Here is another Revenent vid:
Note the use of two drones to keep the boss busy.

Is it actually bugged? I honestly thought they designed it that way on purpose.

without a doubt, the new weapons were supposed to be OP.
For most weapons AR makes shep aim faster but does not give the weapon a massive increase in rate of fire.
Except for the Mattock, where AR magically and infinitely increases the weapons rate of fire (only limited by the number of mouse clicks you are able to generate). It doesn't make the weapon itself OP, it merely ignores the boundaries defined for the AR power.
What kind of stink would flare up in the forums if a DLC allowed an Adept to enter bullet time and fire off an infinite number of Warp's or Singularities without regard for cooldown?

The Mattock is almost ridiculously overpowered.
I always knew as much, but this-
really shows how OP the gun really is. And really, you can more or less understand why. It's semi-automatic, designed specifically to fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. I would imagine there was no practical way of implementing a delay between shots solely while in adrenaline rush.
Really, all it's showing is that the gun could theoretically fire as though it were an automatic, but we can't pull the trigger fast enough. Adrenaline Rush allows use to enter a state where time is "slowing down" and we can pull the trigger much faster.
It's amusing. I love the gun. At the end of the day, it makes sense to have a highly damaging gun like that. Not too many drawbacks; low-ammo capacity, moderate ammo reserve, missing is slightly a bad-idea. It;s biggest drawback? It is the worst looking Assault Rifle of the bunch, if not the worst looking gun overall. And I am not a big fan of many of the weapons' appearances.
That said, from what I have used of the Revenant, it's quite the beast. It's more or less the gun you want to use if you absolutely positively need to see that the last thing everyone in the room breathes is your bullets. But personal preference means I want every shot to land over playing my odds.

You don't specifically pick up the upgrade, you just need three other assault rifle upgrades for it. The link above provides a list.
