I love how the main argument for this is that "players should choose how their chars look like." Sadly, this is only true to a certain extent...

Really now, this isn't a dress-up game. I'm cool with new haircuts as long as it doesn't violate the lore, but Shepard shouldn't look out-of-place as a military soldier during a Reaper invasion.

This. Also I know this has been brought up before but no one is ever really ex-military. Just because you don't work for them doesn't change the fact that you've lived a very specific life-style for years.

It's about as silly as asking to play as the stereotypical hipster in a game where you play an outlaw biker.

I'm happy as long as they update the models that already exist. All the non-default Shepard hair styles are really poorly rendered.

Only if there's a scene where Shepard gets his long hair snagged in his helmet and can't get a good seal against the exterior environment.

I'm still trying to figure out why Shepard is the only one still wearing helmet to begin with.

I'd love to see a few more slightly longer hairstyles myself. Why should Ashley get all the fun of letting her hair down?

Because Shep isn't an angsty teenager.

As for Shep having long hair, I'm for it though, however they need to add the ablity for Husks to rip it off your scalp when they melee.

The idea this thread is predicated on, that Shepard should be able to have longer hair because he's no longer in the military, seems flawed to me. I don't recall him ever officially leaving the Alliance. Add that to the fact that he apparently still believes in this hierarchy enough to submit himself to one of their courts and I'd say that sticking to shorter hair makes more sense.

So? Gerald has long hair, and he uses a sword which requires much more movement with it than a gun. I see no reason why not.

Its the future. And Shep stopped being directly part of the military after he became a Spectre. Doubly so after died.

Anyway great thing about options is that if your shep is still a soldier through and through you don't need to change a thing.

I don't know about long hair, but some more short hairstyles would be better. The selection is pretty weak and most of the current styles pretty much look the same.

I don't know if there are any regulations in the Systems Alliance, but IRL I know that there are regulations in the US Military against long hair, but som countries permit it.

I might get conscriptet by the Danish military later this year, and I know that there arn't many regulations when it comes to hair (and beard), from what I've gathered, soldiers are permited to have long hair on a few conditions: 1) The Commanding officer of the unit a soldier serves in MUST allow it. 2) The beret and the helmet MUST able to worn correctly. The same rules applies to beard.

Female Shepard can have shoulder length hair, first of all.

Second, in the universe of Mass Effect, hair-grabbing is hardly the biggest worry on Shepard's mind.

Thirdly, IF you're capable of grabbing my hair, you could just as easily be slitting my throat.
