Actually most regulations in the military against long hair isn't due to what happens in combat but how hard it is to keep long hair clean while out in the field where access to water can be very limited. Also on ships long hair can get caught on machinery.

Yep Mshep needs some long hair too! I would love to have shoulder length, a pull back style, and asian spiky would be neat.

Some short styles I'd still like to pick from would be detailed buzz, and short hair that isn't all buzz cuts.

Now I get the whole military says no long hair but shep was a civilian in 2 and I'm not sure if he will be officially made Alliance again or if he'll run as a free lance contractor under their banner. There is also the spector aspect sense no humans before shep were made spectors and all aliens before who where had no hair like humans there is zero precedence or procedure on how spector shep should wear his hair so if he deems longer is what he wants then he has every say in doing so as long is it's not interfering with his job long hair would be no problem for him.

Also for the question on who made shep a spector BW did it was their plot choice no fans had any hand in it they are however putting in input and trying to effect if VS or Garrus become spectors or not for 3. Those not wanting either of those stated to be spectors are saying at least for VS they should get promoted it would be far more believable for them then spector.

Shepard seems like he's part of the Alliance in ME3, and even if he isn't Shepard is still a Special-Ops-trained marine (or former marine..hurr durrr..). Marines reaaally do not take kindly to pretty boys with long hair....go play final fantasy or dragon age for your long-haired RPGs. 

Although, I will say I would like something slightly longer than the "formal spikes" hairdo.

Pony tail or shoulder length would be ridiculous. But something like what Sev has in Killzone or what Kaiden has, long but not out of the question long.

Looking forward to see such combinations:
* innocent baby-face with no hint on a beard
* gay
* hair covering ears, eyes and the entire neck
* multi-coloured armour
* pure male squad
Add some ruthless spacer background with a renegade character and you'll get the picture of the hero of the future - the first human Spectre, saviour of the Citadel, saviour of the galaxy - the one, and the only Shepard! Hell yeah! 100% immersion for some dudes guaranteed.

But I think I'll stick with the canonic Sheploo and play ME3 like a TPS - the type of the game it was meant to be.

I understand why there are no long hair options for MShep, I dont agree with it but I understand why it was done. However that being said could they at least give us a proper ****ing beard instead of the stubble, redneck and metrosexual options Shepard is sporting at the moment?

Longer hairsytyles make little sense for male Shep because still an Alliance Marine. He's Commander Shepard, not private citizen Shepard.

As such his hairstyle options should all be short.

Shepard's not in the military anymore

Shep never resigned his Commission, so he's still a member of the Alliance. In fact in ME3 you'll be back to commanding an Alliance vessel, just as you did in ME1.

Edit: Also she keeps it in a bun even during sex.  Alliance: has this sh*t on regulatory lockdown.

We don't know 2 is actually true. So yes we actually need to know if her hair is gonna stay like that in combat. 

Plus its a damn fantasy game and Shepard's a Spectre. Why should he have to care alliance regulations.

I know that modern day militaries have different standard regarding hair styles for men and women so it's not unreasonable to assume that the Alliance military does as well. I suppose the stock response would be "But it's in the future where everybody is enlightened and progressive!!" Well, maybe they will be and then again maybe they won't.

In both ME1&2 it has been true so far, I'll admit 3 can be a toss up.
Plus it's Bioware and time= money, so making adjustments to character models to please a select few of the community<working out bugs and shipping on time.  It's just how it is.

Not really in ME2 we have Miranda running around with her hair abound (and in goddamn heels) compared to ME1s armor so things have obviously changed.

They're making new hairstyles anyway. So I just hop they'll put in a few ponytails/shoulder length for dude Shep.

She is Cerberfanservice however.  Plus she was born perfect that way, Shep has to earn his hair through skill and merit.
