I can't help but notice ME3 didn't feature that well in the E3 awards. Sites like Gameinformer, Gametrailers, IGN etc... didn't seem to pay too much heed to ME3 at all...

http://www.gameinfor...ominations.aspx

I know there is VERY stiff competition and all but gametrailers didn't even mention ME3 in their list of top xbox games. I kind of thought it would do better.

Am I missing something here? I didn't pay attention to what they showed at E3 as I am wary of spoilers...

Didn't seem to pay too much heed.....??

Mass Effect 3's E3 coverage on IGN and Gametrailers was the busiest of all the games in terms of internet traffic. Anyways, since when does E3 define how good a game is?

I dont give a fat rats arse about what game sites or mags say about games, as I'm the one who decides wether or not I like a game.
There have been plenty of games/movies/books that were panned by the critics which I loved, and plenty which were raved about by critics which I found to be completely lackluster.

So called "critics" are payed off by game author-companies to decide if the game is good or from other companies (then opinion about the game is negative).

While I do put some value in reviews, I don't pay much attention to game "journalists" masturbating in the wake of E3.

QFT

Famous movie "critic" Roger Ebert gave "The Island", the latest piece of garbage from Michael Bay studios a whopping 75.

Well thats what consumers are excited for... Not what critics and journalists are excited for having been to E3.

Getting E3 awards is a whole other thing than justifying them. They mean absolutely nothing, since they don't say anything about the eventual product.

Besides, Bioshock got the Shooter Award despite Battlefield 3. Huh?

What the jounalists think doesn't matter. They aren't the ones who decide how successful a game is. The piece of garbage called "Transformers 2" Made $830 million worldwide even though it was universally panned by critics.

I agree with you to a point... Everyone raving about a game doesn't mean I will like it. Though I would argue that it is a reasonable signal that the game is of high quality.

I disagree but I can see why you would think there is a lack of E3 love.

I would say that BW featured very little compared to other games. Having said that, the stuff they did feature was pretty amazing and really captured our attention enough for it to be called one of the most promising games.

Also, I believe that BW would have featured more if the release date was still in early December, but obviously that isn't the case.

Yeah I was shocked by  that too... but BS:I has really got all the critics with their panties in a twist. Most sites have been raving about it...

Ok well if they featured less of the game that would explain it ! :)

Yep. The way I see it, if they featured any more than what they did it would probably have a lot of spoilers. Commander Hudson already leaked something casually in one of the demo/interviews lol which perhaps isn't too big of a deal.

They showed just the right amount of content for me to be lurking in these forums almost everyday (possibly until release). I still don't know if I hate them or love them for doing that.

As the Duke Nukem PR stuff going on has started to confirm what everyone already knew, review sites, scores, awards etc are not to be trusted.

Use them as a guide, make your own judgement. Some of my all time favorite games have never received so much as a "Meh" from gaming sites.

I've come not to trust game review sites because everyone has different opinions about everything. As Samara said "If three humans are in a room there will be six opinions."

Yeah what was that about?

That's why I think sites like Metacritic are more reliable. More opinions, all of them averaged out.

Rotten tomatoes is s**t, though. since voting is open to the public, everyone votes either a 1 or a 10.

If u have watched the recent gamestrailer.com vids, the best game for pc, ps3, xbox 360 and show was bioshock. Ok, I'm going to let everyone else figure that out, then tell me why mass effect didn't win any awards. Critics are not the mass's, that's why bay's films are super popular dispute their general lack of anything besides action and cod still goes on.

What suprised me was that ME3 didn't even make the list for those awards...

Did ME3 just not show much?
Did they see something they didn't like?
Has DA2 fightened everyone off ME3?

or whats going on...

GT doesn't nominate games they haven't played themselves, which was the case with ME3.

ME3 wasn't really an equal contender. There were only a handful of five-minute demos, no hands-on, and half of what was shown was WIP, and so wasn't to be looked at as a finalized product. The only shot it had was at best trailer, but after ACR the bets were off.

The game is nine months from release and doesn't need any more hype than it already has. Personal opinion? E3 is a trampoline for mediocre projects with strong marketing backbone. Most games which come out great are the ones who withhold their cards on flashy conventions.
