Who gives a damn? Seriously? I'm buying it, you're buying it, everyone here is buying it, so the fact it hasn't been huge at E3 or whatever makes a difference how? I find my favourite games tend to be ones that most people don't really like anyway (but do still have a large devoted following, like BioShock).

Just make your own judgements and go from there. Don't just rely on what e3/reviewers/websites say.

It's not coming out until next year anyway, It'll get more showcasing the closer it is to release. They did the same when ME 2 came out, people were going off there heads around christmas time.

Have you seen thes year titles ? its crazy, one of the best years ever. Mass effect is a great game but when it comes to sales so many games from this e3 gonna outsell it many times. The gamming sites want traffic and just want to show thing like skyrim, cod and nintenos new console. because they are more popular an will sell so much more. Easy as that

Since when have these awards actually mattered?

well not to mention a majority of what they showed is 3-6 months away from release. Most of the games they showed will be out in under 6 months, and before the holiday season, therefore they need to get the hype train rolling for those games.

COD, BF3, SR3, Uncharted 3, ES5, WWE12, yada yada yada and so on and so forth. No doubt ME3 will be one of the big ones as well, but its also not coming out until next spring. So certain games will be getting precedent over it

It doesn't really bother me at all, I don't think it's indicative enough.

Though I have to admit, the presentation of E3 was really poor in my opinion.

How was it a poor showing Da_Lion? I actually happen to think it was a great showing in terms of the set pieces for a lot of the upcoming game and barring a few more details, show how much tighter combat was gonna be and offered us a glimpse at the new customization and level up features. So outside of showing us those more in depth (new powers and details on said customization and combat) I think they had a teriffic showing.

Of course knowing hte game isn't ready yet, and wont be for months, I felt it was very solid.

Have you seen this years titles?

The first graphic in this link pretty much sums it up,  the rest of the article isn't bad at showing the problems today too...especially the "Creatively bankrupt" part.

http://www.cracked.c...in-video-games/

That first graphic pretty much shows you everything that was shown at E3 this year.  I went through the lists of upcoming games,  it's 10 shooters to every one type of other game,  and even those other types of games are just RTS or Action-Adventure.  We're pretty much at the point where the only type of game is a Shooter today.

You may also want to investigate Mass Effect sales figures,  they're really not all that high.  In fact,  it's been outsold by almost all of it's competition with both releases.

This year's E3 was a very good indicator of the impending market crash.  Now everything's a Shooter,  or a sequel to a pseudo-shooter,  or both.  You can't keep selling the same game over and over and think people will buy it,  the bottom's going to drop out *really* fast.

2010 had Red Dead Redemption,  Starcraft 2,  Grand Turismo 5,  World of Warcraft X-pack,  and Pokemon,  and even with those 800lb gorillas,  the year finished with shrinkage.  2011 didn't start out much better,  even with Pokemon March finished down 15%,  and only COD has kept the market in positive numbers for only a couple of months.  There's nothing coming for the rest of the year that'll sell huge,  we're going to spend the rest of the year talking about how the market's facing double digit shrinkage month to month.

Anyways, since when does E3 define how good a game is?

I don't know, I think I recall ME2 doing pretty well at E3 but that game wasn't that great.

Besides, Bioshock got the Shooter Award despite Battlefield 3. Huh?

Yeah that was bizzarre... I mean I <3 Bioshock.... but not for it's shooter aspect (which I actually find lackluster)... but for the adventure, mystery and story it told.... The shooting in Infinite seemed no better than the original Bioshock so I was baffled it got awarded as best Shooter...

I don't care what critics and reviewers say about a game and awards that game gets doesn't matter as well.

Also it should be taken into account what the awards at E3 are really for. They are awards for best demo or best trailer, as that is all that is being shown there. They're awards for the biggest "Wow" moments. What ME3 showed was a great gameplay demo, but I never saw anything that made me go, "WOAH!". Has that lessened my excitement at all? No. With nine moths to go, I think that they are saving their "Wow" moment for later marketing.

They are all hung up on Skyrim.  Bethesda games are lame IMO

Hey, don't blame the journalists, they just thought ME3 footage was a Gears of War multi-player option. :D

No. I know Mass Effect 3 is going to be a great game. Bioware could only show bits of it's game. While Skyrim on the other hand was able to show everything it has to offer in it. To be honest I was surprised by the lack for Mass Effect 3, but then again I know it is going to be a great game so I don't care.

I think Fox news agrees with that statement.

They hold no value at all, let the game speak for itself.

I must admit i have been left a bit surprised that it hasn't been nominated for awards. So what you will about journo's and stuff but a fair part of the reason of going to E3 is to impress and wow the audience and journos on show.

It could be a case that a lot of journo's have only included games they got proper hands on with - though i'm not sure if they were allowed to get proper hands on with Infinite - or it could be that there was just too many games for ME3 to compete with - or maybe they just weren't impressed. That said, i don't see ME3 being on many, if any "biggest disappointment" award lists so i think it's just the sheer volume of top quality games that has gone against ME3's favor. It's up for RPG, Xbox and PC game of show so it obviously hasn't been a complete washout for ME3.

I must be in a minority but graphics aside i was too impressed by Battlefield.

The way gametrailers explained it in Invisible Walls was that they chose the awards based on what was shown at the show rather than what is likely to happen when the games are released. For instance they chose Uncharted 3 over BF3 for best multiplayer despite the fact that they would likely be playing a lot more BF3 multiplayer once it is out.

ME3 will have the possibility of winning some awards and gaining more attention closer to release.

Nope not worried some of the most creative and memorable games are not on the main gaming media's radar.
