I hope they do it right. But the last couple of years have taught me not to trust that they will.   If they make Ash and Kaidan a new LI it will be watered down for the faithful. I have no doubt about it. No matter how good people would tell me it would be,...I would always wonder how much better it could have been.

I'm with you. I do not trust Bioware to handle this in a meaningful way. I really really want an s/s option, but the fact that it's going to be the VS is really depressing for me. I really wanted it to be Joker, because he'd be a new romance option all on his own. There would be no real worry about cutting down on content for him. Sure, you could possibly feel that the more romance options Bioware keeps adding, the less all the others will get, but at least then it would be spread around. I'm afraid that people who romanced Kaidan/Ashley from the beginning are going to be the ones getting the short end of the stick.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but Bioware hasn't been instilling a lot of confidence in me lately.

.... based on what evidence?

Seriously. Read the twitter feeds of the writing team, and Casey Hudson. The number of references to expanded romance dialogue - and expanded dialogue with characters in general - are huge.

Adding another dialogue tree to a character doesn't magically take away space from another dialogue tree for people with existing romances.

That's only true assuming that you are an optimist... which I am not.

Seriously though, this will be the first game that will have a romance that will have extended past just one game, not just with the VS but the other love interests as well. (Unless it happened in an earlier game of Bioware's that I haven't played.) I'm quite nervous about how they are going to handle it. Just adding a couple more dialogue trees isn't really going to help if they reset the relationship with the VS to match any new relationship that a new Shep would be starting. It would cut down on the amount of lines needed to be recorded, etc. Why wouldn't Bioware do that? I don't want a throwaway line about the night before Ilos and then the rest of the relationship being exactly the same as a new players experience.

It's not really quanity that I'm worried about. It's quality. (Not that I don't think the s/s relationship would be less quality, because in a perfect world we would get two seperate and very different experiences, I just have a hard time seeing why Bioware would go that route.)

WHOM am I insulting exactly? You've said this before. i'm not attacking anyone but the idea that Ashley is now bisexual.

Which I do have the right to attack, after all.

Eh I've seen worst.

The heterosexual gamer in the DA2 boards who thought he was being discriminated against. Now that was overdramatic.

I think you're overreacting, with respect.

If you do truly see something as a cancer infecting your game, then I feel sorry for you. But that's no fault of this thread or this forum.

Play the game, decline the maybe two lines of dialogue total and enjoy the experience. Letting an optional choice impact your enjoyment of what should be an amazing end to the series is taking this whole thing far too seriously.

just what exactly is the "cancer" you mention? - i interpreted that as being homosexuality , or gays having their voices heard.
and who exatly are you calling trolls ? - again, seemed like pointing to the "gays who got their voices heard" .

that is all.

Oh here we go. are you going to call me homophobic? Flag-totting, gun waving maniac?

Listen budddy. I have absolutely no problem with homosexual relationships. go ahead, have them. What my problem is, and will always be for eternity, is how you guys INSIST (LITERALLY INSIST) that all the character become bisexual. ALL OF THEM! get out. Why can't this sector of fans compromise. Everyone else compromises but you guys just have to have your way.

Again, that's a generalisation.

The vast majority of people I've seen in over a year of posting on this issue have been willing to compromise.

Bioware aren't stupid and they don't cave in to a few hundred posters on an internet forum. They have their own reasons for doing what they do.

A podcaster asked if

To me this wording does not confirm Kaidan is a m/m romance option.
It simply confirms his VO is 'all for it'.
Which we already knew as he did s/s dialogue for ME1.

Regardless I hope he isn't the s/s option, I'd rather have a new character be gay instead of tacking a new sexuality on to an already establised character.

^
This. A thousand times this. I really hope new characters are the s/s romance and they leave the establised ones alone.

I'm in the same boat (obvioulsy s/s people who wanted to start in ME1 couldn't obviously have a relationship so they don't count in my argument) I've kept faithful and I want a reward dammit

There's no way they could extend them just for s/s without making it a new relationship for new players. Obviously not s/s players fault but looks like we will probably get same dialogue or our "relationship" get rebooted and we have to start again. I'm not an optimistic person so I am hoping that I am totally wrong

Unless in a parallel universe they had an option at the beginning saying I've wanted Kaidan/Ashley since ME1 (you have to have a save from ME1>ME2 to prove it) and people who want s/s get their own start-up and new player's cant.

Oh I'm so mean <_<

But I will place my trust and hope we at least get something special. If not I'm swimming over there to kick some butt.

This simply isn't going to happen.

Bioware have been talking about the romance continuation for months now. The game will deal with your importing a save with an ME1 Ashley/Kaidan romance, as well as if you 'cheated' on them in ME2.

How could it possibly be the same dialogue? A mShep/Kaidan or femShep/Ashley romance in ME3 is entirely different (and three years away) from an existing femShep/Kaidan or mShep/Ashley one. They're completely different narratives.

Yes because EVERY FAN OF THE S/S OPTION WANTS EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER TO BE BI!!!!

I am hoping that I am completely wrong and then I shall not be disappointed :P

I don't meant exact same dialogue, it's hard for me to explain what I mean. I'm just worried as there will be more path's to follow such and they may use similar dialogue but re-word etc due to budget etc. As there are other LI's, they have to treat each one equally I feel and if there are new LI's too. That's going to a lot of dialogue/scenes.

Again it's the fact that Kaidan/Ashley could be counted as one person. I know Bioware will treat them as seperate characters but again one will only appear in every other person's game.

gun waving? of course, you and me both .. we play MassEffect.!!
otherwise, don't know, don't care.
you used 2 offensive words: cancer and troll .That was uncalled for.

i think there is confusion on the word 'bi' here.
Characters won't be bi in the way people are in real life. It's more like Shrodinger's cat : in one world he/she is hetero, in the other he/she is gay . Till you choose, he/she stays in that quantum state of being neither one nor the other .Commit to a world and the other disappears ( or becomes a parallel universe ) . I think it's brilliant in that we both get our cake and eat it too.
