And to the few calling me homophobic, my best friend for probably three years had been gay. My gaydar went off often but we were good friends up until he started being a douche to everyone just to get his way hah.
As I've said though; I'm all for new characters --- NEW CHARACTERS --- being introduced for the gay/bi people, thats PERFECTLY FINE! I think thats AWESOME - EQUALITY - AWESOME!!
But for the returning characters to BECOME GAY suddenly is ****ing stupid.
--- Some of you flamers need to learn to read instead of hearing that little voice in your head that says ""OMG HOMOPHOBNEBEEEE"".

The only character that is a returning one that could be gay or bisexual is possibly Kaidan but I really doubt it.
And what's your criteria for this? What makes Kaidan different from Ashley in this regard? Sexuality is not personality, nor is it a latent personality-defining part of your life.

Raphael Sbarge just confirmed at Albuquerque Comic Expo panel that he's recording s/s roamnce lines so.LeVaughnX wrote...

Don't you think you're really overreacting?LeVaughnX wrote...
This **** is almost as bad as the action/shooter fans who want more fast paced action. Mass Effect 3 is going to be a melting pot of fan-boy/girl creations, desires, and skip allll the story / logic that made ME1 awesome and ME2 cool

No, you are a homophobe because you just went on a page-long tirade on how the characters couldn't be gay because of your ignorant stereotypical assumptions of what a gay person acts like.
Lul what?LeVaughnX wrote...
Anyway Sexuality is based on where you were raised, who you interact with, the content you are expossed to, who taught you about life, and if you were born with a physical body that was different than your biological (is that the right word?..dunno..) make up.

As most people will say, you can tell if someone could be gay by looking at them. Not at how they dress, not at their hair styles, but their eyes / gestures / expressions / voice / personality / actions all sorts of little kinks here and there that just says ""I'm gay"". Sometimes they may be subtle or sometimes super out there.
Kaidan to me seems like he maayyyy be VERY slightly gay because of his voice (0.1%) and due to his random bull**** storm on Horizon. He sounded like a little friggen butt hurt fan-girl during the Horizon bit even if you two were just friends...
Then again neither VS really sounded like themselves during Horizon...Ash sounded like super **** and Kaidan like super vagina.... I think the Reapers did something to them but..whatever.

Regardless; -- again I state that I do not support returning characters becoming gay. New char's are fine, but old are not.

If it could be implemeted properly into the subplot then I wouldnt mind it being there, might even try it out just to see all content, however it seems like its just a fan service much like (god forgive me, I love em both) Tali and Garrus in ME2 and it wont make much since.

I've seen quite a few threads/topics full of people basically begging, crying, whining, and bothering everyone and everything just to be able to have a sexual relationship with the same sex in Mass Effect 3. Now in Dragon Age 2 this didn't work very well; as I played my Straight Male apparently all of the in-game Male Squadies thought I was gay just because I tried to be "friendly" with everyone. So I already didn't like the idea though I do believe in equality.

I really don't understand these topics. How is it rewriting or retconning the character? Did Garrus and Tali get retconned in ME2, since they didn't show any romantic interest in Shepard in ME1? For pity's sake, people.
A good friend of mine apparently retconned herself recently. She dated men all through high school and college and even had a weird old man fetish for a while (yes, someone existed who found George Bush sexy). Then about 2 years ago she started dating a woman, and they got married one week ago. It was a big surprise for those of us who had listened to her rave endlessly about how sexy certain male members of Congress were.
I tell you, I tried my hardest to tell her that she was ruining her own continuity and that she was an obvious example of poor writing. She went and retconned her entire high school experience. Such a shame.

General question: if a close friend of many years turned out to be bisexual, would you accuse him or her of not respecting integrity, continuity, and overall quality?![]()
Friend: I-I have to tell you something. I think I'm gay.
BSN User: WHAT?!
Friend: I hope you'll support me in this and--
BSNU: HOW COULD YOU RETCON YOURSELF LIKE THIS?!
Friend: ....what.
BSNU: I thought you had more respect for continuity than that! You never indicated in the past that you were gay!
Friend: Look, it's something I've been quietly thinking about for years--
BSNU: You destroyed your characterization. EVERYTHING IS RUINED FOREVER. WHO IS YOUR WRITER?!
