Some people are afraid to come out because of the prejudice and hatred of gays, so they stay in the closet and live a pretend life....but they are still gay inside....like the crew on the Normandy....that's right...The Normandy is having a coming out party....you are all invited if you want to come, if not.....stay home.

I'm Coming Out

And to the few calling me homophobic, my best friend for probably three years had been gay. My gaydar went off often but we were good friends up until he started being a douche to everyone just to get his way hah.

As I've said though; I'm all for new characters --- NEW CHARACTERS --- being introduced for the gay/bi people, thats PERFECTLY FINE! I think thats AWESOME - EQUALITY - AWESOME!!

But for the returning characters to BECOME GAY suddenly is ****ing stupid.

No, you are a homophobe because you just went on a page-long tirade on how the characters couldn't be gay because of your ignorant stereotypical assumptions of what a gay person acts like.

The only character that is a returning one that could be gay or bisexual is possibly Kaidan but I really doubt it.

And what's your criteria for this? What makes Kaidan different from Ashley in this regard? Sexuality is not personality, nor is it a latent personality-defining part of your life.

As most people will say, you can tell if someone could be gay by looking at them. Not at how they dress, not at their hair styles, but their eyes / gestures / expressions / voice / personality / actions all sorts of little kinks here and there that just says ""I'm gay"". Sometimes they may be subtle or sometimes super out there.

Kaidan to me seems like he maayyyy be VERY slightly gay because of his voice (0.1%) and due to his random bull**** storm on Horizon. He sounded like a little friggen butt hurt fan-girl during the Horizon bit even if you two were just friends...

Then again neither VS really sounded like themselves during Horizon...Ash sounded like super **** and Kaidan like super vagina.... I think the Reapers did something to them but..whatever.

Anyway Sexuality is based on where you were raised, who you interact with, the content you are expossed to, who taught you about life, and if you were born with a physical body that was different than your biological (is that the right word?..dunno..) make up.

Regardless;  -- again I state that I do not support returning characters becoming gay. New char's are fine, but old are not.

These forums make me scratch my head sometimes. This thread and many like it are a perfect example of why.

S/S romances in the Mass Effect series (and other Bioware games) has always been a hot topic of discussion on these as well as the other Bioware forums, yet any time someone posts a thread in favor or against it there are always people up in arms about it. I get it, because I get tired of reading page after page of like minded threads. I guess I could just stop coming to the forums and save myself the agony of sifting through them, but I don't. Maybe that makes me a masochist? :)

Other posters have said in the past that the "squeaky wheel gets the grease"...maybe that is what the OP is hoping for? I know advocates of S/S relationships subscribe to this theory as there are a boat-load of threads in favor of it. Regardless, almost every day I see new posts against and for, this or that gaming paradigm and detractors posting in the very same threads.

Just a small example, but there is a new thread about possible confirmation from the comic con about voice over work being done or might be done that might support S/S dialog. Well, there is a thread already multiple pages long discussing the overall subject ( http://social.biowar...5/index/7625505 ) and yet a new thread was made. BUT....if someone with an opposing viewpoint attempts to express their opinion in the aforementioned thread, they are instructed to get out because the thread is for the folks in favor of it..."let them have their moment of glory, this thread are for those people to celebrate" -paraphrased of course.

I didn't post to agree or disagree with the OP, my view has been stated in the "For the Love..." thread, I just find myself at a loss sometimes.

Raphael Sbarge just confirmed at Albuquerque Comic Expo panel that he's recording s/s roamnce lines so.

This **** is almost as bad as the action/shooter fans who want more fast paced action. Mass Effect 3 is going to be a melting pot of fan-boy/girl creations, desires, and skip allll the story / logic that made ME1 awesome and ME2 cool

Don't you think you're really overreacting?

No, I'm actually not homophobic; because I don't think you should be afraid of anyone or anything unless you don't understand what you are afraid of. I don't fear gay people; and I don't mind them. Andddd being around a few gay people in my life I know the tells.

Also - don't tell me I'm making assumptions when thats all you're doing buck-o =D!

It's funny. I see some complaining to find the same topics about romances s / ssome do not want, because of many reasons etc.

And yet these topics are not more numerous than those that create a topic to require or make the pub for s / s romance too.

While some create a topic asking for fanservice, I do not see why some might not create to reject it.

Be honest with yourself and don't participate if it displeases you. Thank you.

OP, you just keep proving our point.

Also, all this talk about how it's "fanservice" is ridiculous. The relationships in general in Mass Effect, yes the straight ones - What do you think those are? FANSERVICE. Why does one side of fanservice deserve it more than the other?

...lol what. Okay, you can't 'tell' if someone is gay by looking at them. Some gay people conform to premade conceptions of what... well, generally the opposite sex is supposed to act like. There have been a lot of people who thought I was a lesbian because I 'acted' like a dude, while I am not attracted to women sexually. Conversely, my best friend is gayer than the day is long and no one realises it because he doesn't act what people expect a gay man to act like. He doesn't hide it. Neither of us advertise our sexuality. Most people don't in their day to day life.

Tell me, what are the mannerisms associated with gays/lesbians? Bisexuals? Asexuals? Pansexuals? Heterosexuals? Demisexuals? Can you explain where these inherent differences come from?

if you were born with a physical body that was different than your biological (is that the right word?..dunno..) make up.

That's transgender, which isn't a component of sexuality. Sexuality is who you're sexually attracted to, transgenderism is what gender you think you're supposed to be.

If it could be implemeted properly into the subplot then I wouldnt mind it being there, might even try it out just to see all content, however it seems like its just a fan service much like (god forgive me, I love em both) Tali and Garrus in ME2 and it wont make much since.

All romances are fanservice. I don't see what makes straight ones less fanservicey than gay options or romances for popular characters being added.

I've seen quite a few threads/topics full of people basically begging, crying, whining, and bothering everyone and everything just to be able to have a sexual relationship with the same sex in Mass Effect 3. Now in Dragon Age 2 this didn't work very well; as I played my Straight Male apparently all of the in-game Male Squadies thought I was gay just because I tried to be "friendly" with everyone. So I already didn't like the idea though I do believe in equality.

I really don't know what special version of DA2 you may have played, but your description of playing a male straight Hawke doesn 't fit with zhe memories of my playthroughs and therefore your description seems to be a little bit exaggerated. Only Anders tried to flirt with my male straight Hawke, but that wasn't a big issue as I've already hated him from the beginning.

I really don't understand these topics.  How is it rewriting or retconning the character?  Did Garrus and Tali get retconned in ME2, since they didn't show any romantic interest in Shepard in ME1?  For pity's sake, people.

A good friend of mine apparently retconned herself recently.  She dated men all through high school and college and even had a weird old man fetish for a while (yes, someone existed who found George Bush sexy).  Then about 2 years ago she started dating a woman, and they got married one week ago.  It was a big surprise for those of us who had listened to her rave endlessly about how sexy certain male members of Congress were.

I tell you, I tried my hardest to tell her that she was ruining her own continuity and that she was an obvious example of poor writing.  She went and retconned her entire high school experience.  Such a shame.

Spoken like someone who's only ever seen gay people in movies.

No, it's just genetics. Granted, the way your raised can have an effect on how you come to accept your sexuality, but it is what it is. It's not really a question on this, it's a scientific fact.

General question: if a close friend of many years turned out to be bisexual, would you accuse him or her of not respecting integrity, continuity, and overall quality?

I think this was just a topic to intentionally flame bait many people. Also the rant is irrelevant since his whole point is to not make former part members gay and bioware really hasn't confirmed or denied that. Most s/s romance support for former party members to be bi is mostly speculation. This thread fail miserably.
