I would make a poll, but then I'd have to either remember or look up the name of every love interest and every game.

Personally, I'm a little torn between Bastila from Knights of the Old Republic and Lady Aribeth de Tylmarande from Neverwinter Nights.  Hmm...

I think I'll go with Bastila.  I thought the romance with her was well-written, although I'm kinda peeved at what Obsidian did with it in KotOR II.  I like Tali'Zorah's personality, but she... doesn't have human feet, and can't reproduce with a human, as far as I know.

I've only done the Bastila romance once for the lulz just because my char was called John Crichton, it was funny indeed.

My all time favorite will always be Leliana, because of her sweet adorable personality, and interesting background. Closely behind her is Liara & Merrill whom I adore as well.

Best Overall...

Jaheira from BG2. I thought it was fairly well done despite having never finished it. It had a few moments which I felt weakened Jaheira's badass warrior-druid persona, but there were several great moments that sucked me in. Most of all the romance felt equal compared to other options. Viconia was too subservient later on, and Aerie was a bad stereotype until "Throne of Bhaal" when she finally got her metaphoric wings. Ironically I was able to *finish* that one. Stupid bugs... ~Grumbles~

Best Same-Sex Romance...

I have yet to play DA2 to see how that measures up. For now my vote goes to Leliana. There is some witty dialogue packed in there, and a few great romantic moments. I like that Leliana's dialogue felt down to earth. It was downright normal compared to the high drama and craziness of DA's other options. I was impressed by how much attention BioWare gave it compared to their past work with same-sex romances. My only complaints are that it was too easy to blow through it quickly, and there was an absence of romantic speech cues present with Zevran and Alistair.

Best Hollywood Romance...

Sky in "Jade Empire" takes this one. It was a classic tale of roguish adventurer meets... another roguish adventurer. I.e.; my character. >.< Silk Fox even comments on it at one point, so it must be true! Sky's romance had a good flow to it. He had more time to develop than Silk Fox. He was also not as domineering as her, or as naively annoying as Dawn Star. I also gotta hand it to whoever directed that kissing scene. It felt epic, and unlike the cheesy sex scenes BioWare is so enamored with now, I was actually moved by it.

On that note, Silk Fox's same-sex kissing scene being cut short was one of my great BioWare disappointments. I know why it was not incorporated, but I still felt short changed.

Honorable Mention...

Anomen Delryn. Yes, he was something of a ****** through much of the game. Yes, he was a pompous self righteous ass. Yes, it was tempting to cave his skull in with a rock. Wait, wait... *romance*... right. >.< What I liked about Anomen's admittedly rocky romance was that he grew as a person. He was not the same jerkass at the end that he was at the start. The player had real influence into how he changed too, being able to set him one of two paths that meaningfully changed his characterization. Of the four BG2 romances, he is almost on par with Jaheira. The reason I rate him lower is because his personality *does* grate at times; especially early on when he is in full on moron mode. Jaheira had the advantage of having likeable qualities from the start.
